Fitbit???
I'm tempted to get one, but wondering if anyone here has experience with them? Recommendations... or otherwise?

I have a Fitbit Zip and love it! I am already thinking about upgrading to the One or the Flex. I would love to use the sleep feature. I'm just not sure I want to wear a wrist band ALL the time and with the One, I think I'd get tired of moving it to the sleep wrist band thing. The Zip is affordable and syncs automatically.

I have the Flex and I LOOOOVVVEE it. It's super motivating, I compete with my friends, I know what I've burned and what I need to burn to lose. I can't stress how much I love it.
|
I have the zip and love it because it clips inside my bra so I can wear it no matter what I'm wearing.

I got the flex wristband at Target a week ago and I love it! I had the jawbone up last year until it broke, and the flex is very similar. I use the iPhone app and it automatically syncs through Bluetooth. It's cool that it has different colored bands you can get. I do have to say though, that it doesn't always measure that accurately. It said I only went 2.75 miles even though I jogged 3 (I was on a treadmill so I know it was 3). Although that's not enough to deter me from using it as motivation.

I have the fitbit one and love it! I love the stats. I don't use it as much since I started IP, because I noticed that too much walking slowed down my losses, but I plan to use it a lot once I get to maintenance. The sleep function is very interesting, and the wristband that you wear at night isn't that annoying. You get used to it quick.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my fitbit One. I had the Ultra and it wore out a day or two after the warranty and they still sent me a free One, which is even better. It clips on the center of my bra, which I love, since it's totally inconspicuous. It has definitely made me move more, and I rarely miss my 10,000 step goal.
I'm always moving more, walking while on the phone, parking far away from stores, etc. While I was waiting for my replacement to come, I found myself being FAR less active, even though I should know better by now. It's like if the fitbit doesn't record it, it doesn't count! So crazy, but it works for me and has absolutely been worth the money. |
I loved mine...
will upgrade to the bracelet one soon. I cant stand having to remember to move it in and out of pockets.... Their free online tools are great too.. encourages to get up and moving. Tho it seems to have a hard time tracking movt on treadmills etc |
Thanks to everyone above who responded... seems unanimous from all of you that it's a worthwhile tool to get. Not sure which one to get... leaning towards the Fitbit Flex. I'm hoping it will motivate me to MOVE more! :)

I have the fit bit one and love it. I used to have the ultra.. until it died.. and had to go lut and get the one the next day. Another thing I learned is you can also linked myfinesspal to your fitbit account and they sinc together..

I just got the fitbit one this week and really like it. The reviews were better for it over the flex. I agree that it isn't totally accurate, but it gives good directional information and I am really glad I got it.

IMO there are pros and cons to each of them. I appreciate everyone's comments.

I also have it linked with Spark People so whatever food, exercise I log in Spark to goes right to my fitbit stats and Spark People has all of the IP food in their app so easy to log food. I love love love my fit bit.

I personally think these types of devices are fantastic. I owned a gowear fit for three months and learned a lot. They are extremely useful in that they show you how small movements over the course of a day add up.
Having said that - one needs to recognize the limitations of these devices. They proclaim a high degree of accuracy but the reality is that they are all using base line formulas which may or may not be accurate for you so the total number of calories it says you're burning in a day may or may not be true. Still - seeing how light activity and moving around adds up is really motivational to take the stairs - park a little further away at the grocery store - get up and move around every 15-20 minutes rather than sit at your desk for hours at a time. You know what I find fascinating? When you look at the data - people who have lost weight burn fewer calories than those who never have. Most of us would like to think it is that we have slower metabolism but the data shows that our bodies are simply more efficient with our movement. We are simply less active. NEAT and SPA are lower. Whether it is adaptation in the face of lowered calories or just how we were it not clear. Having a device like this allows you to get into the habit of moving around more - and speeding up weight loss or making maintinence easier. |
I just started using my fitbit and would like some fitbit friends!
If anyone would like to be my fitbit friend please friend me. www.fitbit.com/user/26LY33 Is there an ideal protein fitbit group? Thanks, Shauna |
Wild wire there is an app Spark People that you can link with your fitbit. It has all of the IP foods already loaded so it is easy to track food and since it links with fitbit whatever you track will automatically go right to your fitbit journal. I had to order the flex fitbit and have not got it yet lost my fitbit one 2 weeks ago and really miss it.

I have had a for about 9 months now and I love it. I wear it all the time. Originally bought the model prior to the one...actually wore it out, luckily I bought Geek Squad protection at Best Buy, and was able to upgrade to the Fitbit One for no charge. I'm definitely a fan. Added plus, it syncs with MyFitnessPal!!

I just got a fitbit one and fitbit aria scale for my birthday. I am so excited. So far it seems to be pretty accurate. I haven't mastered using it for the sleep mode yet.
I love that it is integrated with My Fitness Pal. I really like seeing the charts and reports. I know they will be helpful for the long run. |

You can also keep a fitness journal online, and being a diabetic, it also allows me to track my blood sugars on the fitbit.com site.

I have been using fitbit one for years. Love it.

I have the Fitbit One. Love it! I haven't used it for awhile. Time to charge it up. I love that you can challenge your friends on it. Also like that you can sync to My Fitness Pal.

My hubby's company bought fitbit ultras for the entire staff and their families and we are all totally in love. Hubby's ultra died recently so he bought himself a fitbit one. His company is always doing friendly competitions and we get discounts on our health insurance premiums, etc, thanks to the amount of steps he gets. (Hubby is a marathon runner who is always training for something or other, so his steps are insane.) As soon as they do a contest for weight loss, we will totally win that one. My steps aren't what everyone else's are at this stage, but boy is my weight loss exceptional! (Thanks, IP!)

You rock! |
I left my 'bit on the bathroom sink this a.m. and was almost in a panic about it - until I remembered the gps feature in activities. I've used it for two of my walks (to work and along the riverwalk at lunch) and it still counts steps. Or more likely guesses at the steps based on mileage. Not that that is accurate - it has me walking on water part of the time and I definitely don't remember doing that!

Officially obsessed!
Hi all,
After reading these posts about fitbit recently, I decided to get one. I purchased the fitbit zip and I have been using it for a few days now. I love it! I already walk a lot and this is so helpful to keep track of how much i am actually accomplishing. Yesterday was a 17,000 step day, woo hoo! Thanks to all who posted! |
For those of you who can't live without your fitbit... even when at a fancy event... Tory Burch makes a gold bangle fitbit holder... looks awesome, lol. I just saw it in the September Elle Canada magazine.
|
Just bought my fitbit flex today. I'm already really excited to get started. This is literally day one of my journey to a healthier me. I've been overweight for a long time, but the scale hit 192 and there is NO WAY I am ever letting it hit 200. Unless I get pregnant sometime soon but barring that, ain't no way - ain't no how.
|
I have a fitbit flex. I was addicted to it at first, but then realized I did the same workout/routine every day so my stats were pretty boring. My husband has been using it recently to take on his mountain hikes which has been neat to see how many steps he takes up/down a mountain. He lost my small wristband though (he uses the large band and we just share one flex unit) so I just ordered a new hot pink one because I'm now using My Fitness Pal and would love to integrate the two. I also love that they have a bunch of colored bands available now. I wanted a Tory Burch band, but they are getting TERRIBLE reviews - peeling designs and clasps that don't close (lots of people have ended up losing the entire unit and having to replace it, yikes!).
|
I just got a fitbit yesterday, and I love it! It does everything for you, which is so nice. And it seems to be fairly accurate with activity. Every food I have tried to enter (even off brands like great value) are in the app as well. Highly recommend!
|
For anyone looking to buy the fitbit flex, I JUST saw it at Costco today for 97.99 plus you get 3 bands one black and two colored - good deal!
|
Yikes, darthkitten, after paying good money for a Tory Burch bracelet, I'd be pretty pissed if it didn't close properly and started peeling! Too bad it's crappy...

For those tracking on their fitbit- what is your average calorie deficit per day? Under 1000 or more than 1000?
