I have 16 lbs to goal, but I have decided I need to get off IP. I got the jump start I needed, but have been struggling for 3 weeks now daily to keep myself on plan. I have stayed on plan, I just have come to hate it! The thought of another packet of food makes me throw up a little in my mouth
I've decided I don't care if my weight loss slows, as long as I'm happier with my daily lifestyle.
My fear is how to do this? Should I just phase off like normal? I plan to continue eating lower carb, just with real food. I also plan to resume my normal heavier exercise routines. Just worried that if I eat normal food at this point I'm going to suddenly gain 10lbs!
Advice would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely phase off! You can choose to do phase 2 first or jump right into phase 3 but do your 2 weeks of phase 3, before moving into another plan.
If you stay low carb, you won't gain 10 lbs! People who regain after low carb resume too much of their "before" eating ifestyle.
Good luck!
I have just increased carbs after I realized an IP-style diet messes with my thyroid and liver. I was a bit alarmed at the time and did not care about gradually adding carbs back. I dived in massively, though so far I added mainly fruit back to my diet, dried or fresh. In a second step I will add pasta and grains. I am now actually back to loosing. No weight increase here. I anyways think the idea that your glycogen stores do not replenish under low carb regime is wrong. I think glycogen in your muscles gets gradually accumulated, though the levels are likely to be lower than on a regular carb diet and may require exercising. That might explain why I did not experience any sudden weight gain due to glycogen reaccumulation. I am even less hungry now and eat about the same calories than before (I always was at 1200-1300 because I do some strength training) without trying. The only thing I noticed is that I have problems digesting some food. I am not sure whether this reflects the lack of enzymes used for carb digestion or a still unhappy liver. Gradually carbing up may help with that issue as it will probably take a couple of weeks for your body to switch and turn the carb machine back on, so to say.
Thanks everybody! I'm so conflicted on what to do! The thought of going through the summer without being able to enjoy fruit kills me! Plus, I really am tired of the packet food. It feels as if I'm still eating processed stuff instead of real whole natural food. I just don't want my weight. Loss to stall, but mentally I'm having such a hard time, not to mention I'm tired of paying for it. I probably have about two weeks left of packets.
Am I just in a slump?

Only you can decide whether its just a mental slump or not. For myself, I have experience stopping a plan before goal and I'm determined not to do that this time.
There are certainly other ways to lose weight if IP is too tough for you. ,nothing has worked as efficiently as IP for me but we are all different and are all walking different journeys.
Trinkets - have you considered switching over to IP's Alternative Plan? I'm referring to the plan that they recommend diabetics and dieters with other health issues use? It follows the same protocol as the regular IP Phase 1-3, but at each meal you alslo incorporate a serving of either dairy, carbs, or fruit. You organize your day's eating so that you end up having 1 serving of each by the end of the day. You might find this more 'do-able'... and you'd still have the structure of the program.
If you do decide to leave the program, it's important to phase off properly.

I haven't thought of that. That might help. I've been telling my coach for the last three weeks how bad I'm struggling with the food and my thoughts of quitting program. She keeps telling me its hormones, or need more water? Seriously? I get all my water, plus more, and the hormones, well I don't know what to do about that. I really think summer has something to do with the way I'm feeling. I don't want to QUIT on my goal, just afraid I'm going to reach a breaking point and go on a crazy binge and eat a whole watermelon one day
My coach just hasn't had many helpful suggestions for me, but maybe I just need to approach her with the idea. Thanks
