Default Is Anyone "Nesting" since beginning IP?

I have to admit, I'm a packrat and have always had an issue with my organizational skills. Don't get me wrong, My house looks fine unless you look in cabinets etc. LOL. I've recently noticed that I'm on a mission to organize many things in my home. I bought these adorable storage boxes at the container store and have begun going through all of my papers and dumping where necessary. The closet cleaning has been a necessity of course to get rid of the too big clothes and to find something to wear in the weight loss interim. I have now cleaned out and organized my master bath vanity, and this weekend it's the garage.

What is this new feeling that I'm having? Could IP be the catalyst to simplifying my life. As I lose the weight, I also want to lose the extra stuff? Anyone else have something like this happen to them? Just curious.

OMG! Me, too! I think for me it's just the fact that I have more energy and so have the push to actually do the organizational stuff I've been putting off for months. But I totally get what you're feeling -- you are not alone!!

I'm totally purging and organizing, too! Like FormerTexan, part of the reason is having more energy. I think the rest of it is entirely psychological - I feel like I'm finally getting control over my weight and health for the first time in my life, and I want everything else under control, too. Including the cluttered closets and drawers!

Funny you should mention that...I have been cleaning and painting and hate everything in my house! ha ha. The other day I realized I am acting like I did when I was pregnant and expecting a baby. Since that is related to hormones I assume the release of estrogen from fat loss is the reason. Kind of a nice benefit, except I am exhausted. lol.

Yes, Yes, Yes. I'm not going crazy and it's not only me! LOL. I'm so happy to hear that others are feeling the same way. JenJen, I think you're correct with the finally getting control over weight and wanting everything else in control.

Is that why my clutter has been a problem for my entire life and now that I'm taking control over the weight that has always plaqued me, the clutter is also finally being controlled? Such a revelation for me. Scary thing is I can't stop myself. What next, my neighbors yard? It drives me crazy that they are not landscaping and making their yard look nice. Think they'd be angry if I planted some pretty flowers? Just kidding. It never used to bother me until this year. Haha. Will need to figure out a way to channel this new energy.

I would say you are increasing your energy level. I have the same thing going on too!

It's not just a girl thing. I have remodeled my kitchen, installed a sprinkler system in the yard, organized every closet in the house, bought clear plastic storage boxes so I can see everything in there, emptied the attic and organized the garage. My energy level is on high...LOL

I'm not doing IP, but since starting my weight loss and eating healthy I have been cleaning crazy too! I've cleaned out most of my entire house, and my housework has been kept up great! I think it's just the extra energy, the extra feel good.

Yes I've also been bitten by the cleaning a d organizing bug since I started IP. Even the first two weeks when I was was exhausted I had to battle myself to resist the urge. It was basically clean something, take a nap, repeat!

Yep, I have totally decluttered my "junk" room, reorganized the kitchen and my bedroom and have cleaned/decluttered 2.5 closets and under my bed. Plus getting rid of all those "big" clothes. I hope it continues, LOL!

I'm not on IP, but I've noticed that whenever I get rid of high glycemic carbs, my energy goes through the roof and I find myself trying to do every neglected chore or project - which would be great if I didn't try to do it all at once.

Especially around TOM the "nesting" aspect is more likely. At other times of the month, the excess energy tends to be focused more outside the house.

Hubby's the one who calls my TOM puttering "nesting," and at first it irritated me, but I had to admit, the home-improvement aspect really does tend to be hormonally fueled.

As I'm getting closer to menopause, I notice, it's even more intense and often. I never had much interest in domestic skills, and so it feels weird to be channeling my inner Martha Stewart.
