Good morning ladies! I looked thru past posts for this answer to no great avail.

But, during the TOM when you are ravenous and feeling low energy, what sort of tips can you share to make it through while staying OP? Adding another packet, focusing on the packets with more carbs, eating more protein, etc. etc.?

I was so excited to see the scale go lower this week and now I'm sidetracked. :-(

It's probably in myriad daily chats so wasn't easy to search.
Bulk up! I put lunch & dinner veggies on a huge bed of romaine.
Drink hot beverages
Go to bed early
Have the packets that satisfy you the most.
And I eat red meat.

First TOM right now since starting IP...I am up 1 lb...no losses in the past few days. I am also having a day surgery tomorrow so I can not have anything to eat after midnight tonight...and wont get lunch either due to anesthesia....what is going to happen, will it effect my weight loss????
Second thing, for the first time I have plans straight from work into the late evening and I didn't come prepared for dinner, just brought my lunch as usual. I am thinking of just going to the market and picking up some deli meat and a veggie...is that OK?

Red meat (or any meat) would certainly do the trick if I ate it!

Does anyone add another packet or perhaps do two restricteds on the first or second TOM day?

Thanks.

I add another packet of food when I'm starving and getting a headache-seems to work for me.

I tend to bring all 3 of my packets with me to work during TOM. Work is harder for me to get through during this time, so I'll have a packet at 9a, 11a and 1p(these are all ish times, pretty much whenever I feel the urge to eat throughout the day).... This pretty much keeps me on track. Not to mention, they are usually chocolate based! LOL. I have a salad in there somewhere, too. I'll save up my veggies for my dinner and have one big plate with my meat protein. Hope this made sense and helped!

Hi RuthAnn - Welcome to IP & 3FC! You've taken a huge step in the right direction by reading so much on here prior to beginning this great journey!

Hi Erica - I'm sorry, but I can't address your first question about Tom as I'm way past that. RE: today - typically deli meat is quite fatty, so that really isn't a good choice. If you don't have time to go to a restaurant to order and eat something more appropriate, perhaps you could hit a Walmart and buy some Pure Protein Bars and a salad? The bar would replace your meat for the evening. The one thing about this weight loss program is you need to ALWAYS plan ahead! Keep an RTD shake in your vehicle in case something comes up and you can't eat at the right time, etc. Life happens and it's best to always be prepared for anything.

Just wanted to say that I am a 'maintainer' and back on P1 to lose a few up lbs. Had my WI this morning and lost 7 lbs & 4" in the first two weeks! Another 2 - 3 weeks like this and I'll be back at goal

Yes! That definitely helped - and makes total sense to eat so many close together as that was how I was feeling this morning - like a hungry vampire.

My coach is adamant about spacing out meals every 4 hours, which I know others have not been told, but her damn tape is in my head now, which I'm trying to clear out. If I only relied on her versus this forum, I'd probably quit IP by now. LOL. :-)

Well just put in a huge order with the quest bars! I hope I enjoy them as much as others do. My bar is my treat for the day! Right now my fav is protidiet peanut surprise(restricted)! So if I get these bars and they are unrestricted!!! I think this will get a little easier for me! I can't wait to try!

I gotta say I made cauliflower rice... It was just ok. I used sesame oil. I don't know but I have like 13 packets from the 2 cauliflower heads I did. Any hints? I also made kale chips with dehydrator not as good as the ones I did in the oven at a lower heat too. Oh I also made a celery cucumber zucchini soup yesterday..also disappointed. I guess more practice is needed to cook like this! Here's to a better OP cooking day!

I know how you feel! Sooooo glad I found this forum! Like you'll hear a lot here, it's not when you get your packets in, just make sure you're getting them. My days are always different with my flucuating mood or TOM when I eat. Sometimes I have 2 packets at once. It hasn't slowed my losses down one bit. I'm at about an average of 4 lbs a week and I started on Feb. 25.

My favorite quest bars are chocolate brownie and apple pie! YUM!

For the cauli rice, I process mine then throw some coconut oil in a pan let it heat and toss in my cauli rice, curry, garlic, and salt. I usually cover it and cook til I think it's done. Sometimes, I'll add in some zucchini that I run through the processor and shrimp or chicken. DIVINE! But then again, I've always been crazy about coconut and curry!

I count Quest Bars as restricted. They have calorie counts similar to IP restricteds. Carbs on some of them are lower tho, so you can make your own determination. Many of the IP packets are much lower cal than the lowest cal Quest Bar, FYI.

I use caulirice ALL THE TIME but I don't eat it alone. I usually put something on it (chili, stir fried veggies, pork carnitas, to name a few). I'm not sure I'd like those flavors in a soup, either. Maybe it would be good pureed in with a soup packet (to use it up)?
