  • I keep almost buying buffalo at the store, but I am just not sure I will like it (I do think I tried it years ago), and my evening 6 oz (I do 2 oz at lunch) of protein is something I look forward to, and I tend to have my old standards that serve me well.
  • Where would one even buy ostrich? So random! But intriguing all the same.

Buffalo tastes like beef to me. Not bad. I tend to stick to my old stand bys also. Costco chicken is my favorite!

My supermarket occasionally carries ostrich, it's usually in the "specialty" meats - near where they keep the Angus beef. There are usually a few varieties of game meats that I'm always eyeing but haven't tried yet
  • Quote: Ostrich? Hmmm... I guess you wouldn't be having 4 of THOSE eggs for your meal! LOL
Especially since that would be about a $200 dollar omelet

Oh, and Ostrich is worth trying if you ever get the chance, very lean and all of the times that I've have had it... it was pretty good...
  • Well if we are going for the more exotic meats, then yes bison / buffalo is a great choice. We have a lot of it around me and I prefer it over most beef. I also get Elk as an option, it is a very lean meat as well. They are more challenging to cook right but worth it.

Mmmm....bison burgers are yummy. We took a vacation in Maine with the kids a few years back and the campground we stayed at was right near a bison ranch. The local diner served the most AMAZING bison burgers! Bison Big Mac in a bowl?
