Default Sloppy Joe in a bowl

Okay so I was inspired from the Big Mac Bowl... kids wanted homemade sloppy joes tonight and so did hubby and I! So I made ours with a few tweaks and then served it over lettuce, HUGE HIT!

okay so here is what we used, brown it all together:

1 lb of lean ground beef
1/2 - 1 tsp Onion powder
1 Tablespoon Vinegar
1/2 cup WF Ketchup
2 tsp mustard
1 packet of stevia (or splenda)
Sea Salt and Pepper to taste

Brown the meat and once browned add everything else.
I just served it right over lettuce and it was great!

Great idea! Thank you! I will try this tonight. Hubby is suspicious because it doesn't come in a can (which is a good thing IMO), but he'll get over it.

Ha! We never make our sloppy joe from a can (unless you vpcount the tomato sauce we start with as the base)
It's way better homemade!

Yeah our recipe is from when my mom was in high school (I am 36 to give you an idea) and is from their cafeteria! Always a huge hit with the kids and places I take it. Same as the one above except I use 1/4 cup brown sugar for theirs and 1 cup real ketchup lol

Homemade is WAY better, never been able to do the can kind!

OK, I know was posted a few months ago, but I just tried it last night.
YUM!! Very close to a traditional sloppy joe...thanks, Calisto! I put it over lettuce, and it was awesome. Next time, I might get motivated and make some potato puree "buns" to put it on.
Only problem was, I was very hungry last night and it was so good I wanted to eat the whole 16 oz...but I restrained myself and only ate 8 oz.

Default Nachos

We had friends over to watch a basketball game (my college team is in the top-ten)
I served Nachos. Just chopped up extra lettuce & all my toppings went on the lettuce, including the asparagus "guacamole" ( I posted in recipe section).

Another great way to serve ground beef

Great idea. I might need to try this tonight with the ground turkey I've taken out. You should add this to the recipe threads so it doesn't get lost in future.

Am going to tweak this just a bit, I can't stand the taste of WF ketchup so I will puree a tomato in my food processor and cook it down with a bit of splenda and the other seasonings. This will help get in my veggie allowance and even with tomato being limited I could have it once a week.
