I hate rutabagas -- or at least the way my mom prepared then when I was a kid -- and have been hesitant to try this but if they taste similar to sweet potato fries then I will have to try them again.

If you like sweet things and find the rutabaga too sweet as fries, then try cooking them with just the olive oil and when finished toss them in a bit of cinnamon and stevia powder. Makes a great dessert option. I do this with the jicama fries as well.

No it's electric too. Glad to know I'm not doing anything wrong.

I make these at least every other day. I use my Actifry (found it at a discount store for $35.) My kids even love them and we were never french fry people.

I had no idea what an actifry was so I googled it...I'll have to look into one of those... |

I made mine with sea salt and pepper and a little but of EVOO, and tossed it all together in a big bowl, baked at 450 for 25 min and flipped them halfway through...I used two different pans and the ones on my non stick pan burned a little while the ones on my newer jelly roll pan were perfect...a little soggy in some parts but crispy on the end.

This is funny.
I posted the recipe that I found online...but now that everyone is talking about how good it is, I'm going to go buy me a rutabega today to try them! :D I do very much miss my french fries (I'm a potato addict) |
I want to get the Pampered Chef chip tray and try and make them into chips.... hubby liked them as fries but I didn't care for them.
