Unfortunately, this is not always going to accomplish much - remember that clinics are franchises, not employees of Ideal Protein. The corporate branch of IP cannot force clinics/coaches to attend training, only send them materials to review. The only definitive action they can take is to pull a franchise's license, but that would only happen if they violated something in the franchise agreement.

I don't even really talk to my coach. I come in, she measures and weighs me, sells me food and sends me on the way. I don't think we've ever really had dialogue. Its just a redundant process where its like a robot. She seems a bit cold to me.

I know all clinics are different and all coaches are different.

I LOVE my coach! She's very supportive and genuinely cares about each of her clients. She comes to work on holidays and is available by phone whenever needed, although I would never take advantage of that. She looked at my journal for the first 4 months, but I don't show her anymore. She spends at least a half hour with each client every time, discussing the past week and issues that might come up the next week. I choose my food when I'm there, and I can mix up what I order.

I know I could do it without her at ths point, but I enjoy going. It's great to have that support - and there s no additional charge. I only weigh myself at the clinic, but I guess I'll have to buy a scale for maintenance.

I've only recently finished week 2 here but I really like the coach. She happens to be the PA in my physician's office. My doctor actually runs the IP program out of her office. She (the PA) is very very supportive. Actually hugged me.

Well this is a hard one to decided. I did IP last year started at one clinic and switched to another because of the coach at the first clinic she was so rude and just out right nasty. I switched to a different clinic and had a super wonderful coach! She was very supportive and always ran late because she spent time with her clients. When I went back to restart in November she had moved out of province. I did not like the new lady that replaced her, she didn’t understand the program. I have to drive over an hour one way to the clinic and I didn’t see it worth my time to drive for a program that I knew more about then the woman running it. I went at my weight loss solo and have been successful at it. I do find it hard at time to make sure I’m accountable however a girl I work with was so impressed she is doing it as well now and we keep each other on track. I know in Canada its much different than the USA. All coaches I have met do not have ANY medical training the only one that might kinda count she was a massage therapist…. Enough said. Leaving the clinic was the best choice for me. I save money on products, don’t drive 2+ hours one evening a week for WI and I found someone supportive to help out, and I have all these ladies here. Find what works best for you.

I just decided this morning to stop seeing my "coach". Although she is friendly, she's not very helpful and some of the questions I asked her she has answered differently than the info I found here. When I ask her the same question again, with the info I have learned from this board, she agrees with it...even if it's opposite of what she originally told me. This afternoon I will go to get weighed/measured, then I'll be ordering my IP products online for next week. I can get all the support I need on this board, from our office manager since she has already completed the program and from my hubby who has been sooo supportive.

NinjaNurse,
I see you are from Mass, do you go in Franklin? Because your description of the chiro next door made me wonder. If so, that's where I go and, although, it's only been a week, I, too, have dealt with the opposite ends of the spectrum consultants.

AAA no, I am in Fairhaven. The chiropractor is Dr. Dennis Barley. He gave the speech at the info session. He was KNOWLEDGEABLE, PASSIONATE, and CHARISMATIC. It blows my mind that what I have experienced with his coaches is anything but.

I am envious of those who are having great experiences, that's the way it should be.

Yep... I am envious of those of you that have great coaches too! I am the type that really gets motivated when someone seems like they actually CARE how my week went.

Joy and others who have great coaches,
I'm truly glad for you, it's important to have solid support to reach goal and then maintain. It makes all the difference in the world.

Alternatives are products that are used in place of the actual IP products. They have comparable nutritional values and ingredients. Actually there are some that are exactly the same as the IP ones, just sold under a different name ( i.e. Proti-thin chocolate soy puffs are identical to the IP ones, down to the silver packaging.)

There are many products out there that are very similar nutritionally to IP products - we call them "alternatives". People who use alternative products still follow the IP protocol, just instead of IP products we use the other products we've found that are similar.

No, Plain Protein only sells IP products. If you search the forum, there are several threads about Alternative products that detail where to buy them, what people have tried, and what products are and are not OK for the program.
