I have canned tuna but haven't used it. The lunchmeat I've looked at all has sugar in it, so I haven't been able to find anything that is on plan. I also looked at those pre-roasted chickens, but the ones I saw also all have sugar in them.

Have you found any that work?

I like having canned tuna and salmon in the cupboard for a quick, easy protein option. I've steared clear of lunch meats.

Lunch meats are a no no but pkged tuna is ok as well as pkged chicken. My coach said white meat only for both. Also, just cuz the can or pkg says it has 6 oz don't believe it. that is 6oz with water included. its about 3-4oz 8oz of tuna is ALOT of tuna!!!!!!!!

I use both not regularly but for travel and emergencies. I like the tuna in a pouch. It's easier to open and packs/travels well.

I got some turkey from the deli counter, hoping that it's better than the prepackaged meat. I don't know if it has sugar in it though, I'll have to ask I guess.

I use the tuna in the pack. It just seems fresher who knows. Also, I don't know if Boar's Head is available to you but it seems to be pretty good as far as "lunch meat" goes.

Canned tuna (in H2O) is fine. Other lunch meats (from the deli) are off limits for 110% Ipers.

LOVE the tuna in a pouch too. It is so nice to add to salads to get through long afternoons. Lunch meat I only use on occasion because of the added sugar.

I learn so much here. I had no idea about the added sugar. I am having a hard time finding fast foods for lunches. I really don't like tuna but I'll try it again. My taste buds have changed, maybe it won't be so bad if I do 6 oz. of tuna with 2 eggs for my phase 2 lunch. Does this sound right to you?

You'd only need 1 egg with 6oz tuna (1 egg = about 2 oz protein), but tuna and eggs go great together!

What about the frozen pre-cooked chicken? I haven't bought any but would that be an option?

I only do lunch meats when I'm in a pinch. I get the low fat, low sodium chicken, turkey, or ham.

I think the key to the pre-made chicken is to check the ingredient list. I found an entire roasted turkey breast at costco in the prepared section that did not contain any sugar or other no-no ingredients. It's a huge turkey breast, so I cut it up in to proper portions, froze some, and kept some in the fridge for grab and go. I ate it with mustard and pickles (kind of like an open faced sandwich) but you could use it chopped up on a salad.

I also found sliced, pre-cooked chicken breast (it was a 1.5 package in two pouches) at costco. No bad ingredients. Would work good for salads and such.

Both of these items were in the fresh packaged cold foods section.
