Ok, so there was some discussion on the daily chat a while back about going directly from phase 1 to phase 3. Now that I am getting close to goal, I am wondering what you all think about this idea? I have been dreaming about a big breakfast, since I started IP in July and it sure would be nice to be in phase 4 before Christmas.
I think Wuv even mentioned that they do this at her clinic.
I have no experience. However, after reading Dr Train's book and researching how IP has evolved over time I have come to the conclusion that there is no need for phase 2 from a physical standpoint. The only reason for phase 2 was originally to make the diet easier for people to stay on in the long-term. However, as others have pointed out from a psychological point of view it is a nice step as you are not going from complete structure to having to plan 2 whole meals.
Lizzy63 - I asked the question a while back. I wasn't sure how to send you a link to it................ It is currently on page 4 and the 4rth Thread from the top titled "What is phase 2's importance? (phasing out for vacation)" Good Luck. Let us know what you decide to do! Jen
My clinic is still putting people thru phase 2. I think it's an important phase to get your body ready for more food, I don't think it has to be done for two weeks but they do recommend one week.
All of my people I put straight on Phase 3 and I will do the same with myself..SOON....really SOON....lol
Wuv - If I'm phasing out for a pre IP planned vacation (1 week), would you recommend that I do 2 weeks of P3 or do you think 1 week of P3 is sufficient? When I return, I will go straight back to P1 (100% OP pre vacation and will be 100% post vacation). Thanks, Jen

I'm starting on phase 2 today and I'm only doing it for one week if all goes as planned. I'm glad I'm doing it because it will take me at lease a week to figure out how to get 16 oz. of meat in a day!
I've been toying with the idea of one week of phase 2 as well. It just sounds awful to me with all the cooking that will surely be involved. I will only have done five full weeks of phase one so I can't imagine my body being too shocked by upping my calories again.
Thanks all for sharing your thoughts! I'm going to push my coach to let me skip it entirely, but if I can't make that work, I might just compromise on one week of phase 2. (Or maybe I'll just tell him what I'm doing - LOL!)
