Default Hello, need some help here!

Hi I just started Ideal Protein 4 days ago, feel great! I've been reading this forum for a few weeks finally decided to join! I have a quick question, I want to have 8 ounces of steak tonight. When you normally see an "8 ounce steak" it is fairly large. Usually you see this in a restaurant. Is a 8 ounce steak really that big or are my eyes just overlooking all this. I guess really what I should say is, how do I know how much 8 ounces of steak is!

You need to invest in a good scale, digital or otherwise!

if it says 8oz then you are good to go!...8oz is a rather large steak and you CAN HAVE It ALL!!!.....I will be honest, if there isn't an 8oz steak on the menu Then I have to choose between a 6oz and a 12 oz....I am going with the 12oz!....of course I don't do this very often cuz I rarely eat out. To me more protein is better than not enough when it comes to the meat!....cuz remember when you order at a resturant they measure the meat BEFORE its cooked

If you are going out to eat at a restaurant, they usually tell you how many oz the steaks are. You can't always find an 8oz steak at a restaurant, so if you end up getting a 12 oz steak, just cut off 1/3 of eat and don't eat that portion.

If you are eating at home either measure it on a scale, or buy a single steak that weighs 8oz.

ok, thanks for the input. I just wanted to make sure if the 8oz steak was really large for sure. I don't want to have a slip up. especially in the first week.

Agreed, I went with a larger portion a few times in Phase 1 when out to eat. Usually gave some to hubby anyways.

I usually go by the package weight. Bought 2 steaks the other day and the butcher's label said about 1.5 lbs, so I figure each was .75 lbs. or 12 ounces. Cut off about 1/3 and saved 1/2 of that for a lunch salad the next day and gave the other 1/2 to the dog.

Like the others, I would not worry about being a bit over 8 ounces. I usually have a very small meat portion at lunch and then 6 - 8 ounces at dinner.
