Day 2 and I'm not doing well. I am craving a diet coke so bad. I have a headache, I'm sleepy, and cranky.

When can I expect this to go away? HELP!

Stay strong! It will get better soon and it will be so worth it! Day 2 was my worst. Day 3 started rough but I felt great by the end of the day. I believe I had finally reached ketosis then and my appetite changed. I used to LOVE pop and crave every day. The only pop I have indulged in since April was a diet root beer at an old fashioned A & W this summer with the kids and it wasn't as great as I remembered. This will pass! I PROMISE!!!!

Welcome to carb and sugar withdrawal! It's tough for a little while but it WILL get better! Drink LOTS of water, get lots of rest, and know that all those awful feelings are just your body's way of reminding you NEVER to go back to that stuff again!

The 2nd-4th days were the worst for me. The whole first week is poopy, but it will get better. Drink water, rest as much as you can and just get through it. You'll be glad you did.

Drink some water with salt and crushed ice. Chew on the ice and that will distract you from your craving. Then, put on your most comfy pj's and go to bed. Get a good nights sleep and you will feel better in the morning. I think that diet coke withdrawal is worse than carb withdrawl!!! You can do this! Tomorrow is another day! You're almost there!!

Default Veggie question

I'm cooking spinach and I was wondering if I should be eating 2 cups of cooked spinach or 2 cups the spinach before it is cooked (which ends up being 1 cup cooked)?

I always measure 1 cup packed raw before cooking. Spinach cooks down a LOT!

I have tried for three weekends in a row to make waffles out of puddings. I always do something wrong. I really really wanted the waffle maker three weeks ago. I have made so many great dinners out of all the recipes.. but the waffles or the new waffle maker hate me! lol. So I told my husband the waffle maker is grounded. I will go to pancakes (I even told the evil waffle maker this to make sure it knew I was on to its game!). We like pancakes too luckily! In other 'tragic' news... I made an awesome turkey 'chili' with cauliflower and some tomatoes for dinner, I pared it with our new favorite baked turnips. I freaking love these turnips... its like mini potatoes (I thin slice put ranch seasoning, salt, pepper and bake). Here is the tragedy.. The first time I made them, I got a strange feeling, like creepy crawlies on my arms and legs... I thought I have never had a food allergy... maybe the oil in my spritzer thingy went bad. Nope... had them again this week with just pam, and same creepy crawly feeling.. :'( So very sad! My husband said but they are soo good! I guess he will have turnips and I will have rutabaga! Oh well- they work too!
Have a great weekend OP!

Texting can b fun!
Today's SIL sent me a text to let me know that they had bought some lobster at Costco and since we were out of town they would put them in the freezer for a rainy day!
I texted back that we were on our way home and inquired if it was raining there?
She replied 'no just a bit cool'
My DH and I were laughing that they missed our inference.
I sent back 'please reread. Would you like steak with that?'

So yum yum my brother made me lobster! And my husband bbqed steak!

What is important? If you are not a good cook, you should know one!!

Help!! I'm getting very frustrated with this "change in lifestyle"! I've been on IP for almost two months and I still don't feel better and actually had a weight gain last week. I see people posting that the feel "awesome" and to "just be patient" and the discomfort will get better but I just don't. I feel hungry all the time and have chronic lethargy. Am I alone in this? Is it just me or do other people struggle all the time like me? I know that I am in ketosis so shouldn't I feel better and be loosing weight? So frustrated and confused....

It took a couple of months for me to get past the hunger and lethargy. I feel great now.

I think adding in the egg whites for breakfast is what helped me with hunger. i wait to have my first packet until i feel hungry now. I actually feel real hunger now and don't have the emotional hunger.
