Holy trolling flaming thread batman!!! Ok I'll probably get sucked into this, but I skipped a billion posts to get to this point and post:

I don't actually use IP products, as I'm broke, however, I've researched until I was blue in the face about them and their weight loss method. The alternative approach I am taking is a hybrid between Atkins, Weight Watchers, and IP. I've only lost 15 pounds in 5 weeks (yeah, cuz that's not impressive! LoL) but have not been constipated ONCE, the few times I got light headed I understood it was blood pressure issues, and licking some salt and chugging water has fixed that, as well as any headache I may have had. Headaches went away after week 1 and the light headed only kicks in on days I'm too busy to remember my salt. I use more olive oil than recommended (note from WW :First things first: oil isn’t the enemy of healthy eating. Contrary to conventional wisdom, oils (which contain about 120 calories per tablespoon) are actually essential for proper body and brain function, and are essential for helping the body absorb vitamins A,D,E and K.) so my olive oil intake when I cook is probably closer to a tablespoon a day, my WW coach had told me years ago the extra olive oil helped the body "pass" stuff through.

Is this diet healthy long term? Heck no! Is SLIM FAST or SOUTHBEACH or ATKINS healthy? Again, I think it's a balance of good vs bad. Is it better for me now to have my kidneys work a bit harder processing protein, or my heart work harder to pump blood through clogged arteries from too much fat? Is it healthier mentally to get headaches and be dizzy, or to panic looking in a mirror? Everything in life, including this diet, is about balance, compromise, and moderation. Does this diet work? Absolutely. Can you fail at this diet? Absolutely. People can fail at anything, easily. Succeeding is something altogether different.

OK, Yoda-out!

kaypix, that was the one thing I had to change too. I upped the olive oill to 1tablespoon a day and did not use that amount to cook so I was sure I was getting the full amount. I know we are all different but until I did that I was stalled for a month.

When I saw the small amount they allotted, mixed with the EXTREMELY low fat content in the diet, I knew I'd be having big C issues in no time, because I did when I accidentally forgot to have my EVOO during WeightWatchers 3 years ago. So I've been on the 1 tbsp of olive oil every day since day 1, and I cook with probably at least 3-4 tbsp but I don't drink the sauce out of the bottom of the pan, so I'm pretty confident I don't end up with that. My loss is usually around 2 LB / week and I'm good with that. WW was more of a .6, .8 loss/week so I know I'm a slow loser.

Good summary of key things to try for the symptoms described and I'm sure it will help some. All your points are right on, and are solutions to most people most of the time unless one or more issues persist even when using the solutions. IP is not for everyone which is true of all diets. We are all different and our bodies react differently. For some adapting IP is the best answer for them. For others the solution is finding a diet that works best for them and their balance and being successful. For many, IP will be the solution and the fastest way I've found to loss weight. Regardless this is perhaps the best group of members and community I've found on any diet site and have learned so much. The tone of a few lately is changing and I hope that gets better.

Maybe I'm a tad naive, but I was surprised to see the word sabotage. Not saying there aren't some that the word applies to but many times what I may see are some member's voicing frustrations, sharing issues to seek solutions, etc. At Curves I did experience another gal who had weight loss surgery and she was competitive, etc. How one loses weight is a personal decision and I respect individual choice. However, this individual seemed to be struggling and I certainly understand that losing weight can have it's bumps and successes. So many great members on this site who genuinely want to share information and support one another.

When someone encourages you to eat or drink something that is specifically off limits to your diet, I call that sabotage. Sometimes it is unintentional, but other times it's not. I am referring to the post that said to drink red wine, it's good for you. People who aren't familiar with this diet have ignorance on their side. Others... not so much.
