The Canada Thread

Without wanting to create a segregation of sorts, I thought it would be a good idea to establish a 'depository' for all things Canadian in relation to our collective IP-Passage, that is.

While I truly enjoy this forum, the fact that it's predominantly American poses a bit of a disconnect when it comes to products, restaurants etc...
Walden Farms products for example, are sold in Canada but in limited locations http://waldenfarms.ca/

I welcome all Canadians to participate in this thread - it has the potential to be a useful resource for us Northern Folk :]

Cheers,
Élise

I've found Walden Farms products can be bought online at a lower cost through:

http://www.thelowcarbgrocery.com/cat...ath=132_74_393

http://www.lowcarbcanada.ca/waldenfarms

FYI, both of these online shops are located at or near Toronto, Ontario.

Thanks for that! I'm not big on ordering online - but it's clear that I should get with the times lol For anyone who seeks a more visual/ tactile experience, I've been finding lots of Stevia products, dairy-free mayonnaise/aioli in Ottawa.. Here are some of my favourites:

Hello from Alberta! I too have seen many differences between the US and Canadian programs and info. End of week 2 and very happy with the program so far.

A quick hello from Montreal. I think it's a great idea to have info regarding products / restaurants that can be found in Canada.

Great thread.

You can find low sodium President's Choice dill pickles at Superstore/ Extra Foods/ No Frills. These are so good with Dill Zippers.

Great Lakes Gelatin

I always thought these were the same company, lol, thanks for setting me straight.

How interesting! So, you just add this to any food | beverage and it increases your protein intake?
The site says that each tablespoon (7g) contains 100% Pure Bovine Collagen - does that translate to 7grams of protein?

PS: What part of Canada are you from?
PPS: Could I possibly ask you any MORE questions?! lol

Central Alberta

I am from Central Alberta. This is my first time posting. However, I have maintained a 115 pound Ideal Protein loss for just about one year.
I have tried and like the Simply Bar sold at Superstore.. not found in the
pharmacy section, but rather in an aisle with other protein things. I really like
that they are made in Canada and aren't full of artificial things.

I have used Proteinwell.ca with success and savings compared to a
specialty store in Red Deer. I also like the ChocoRite powder drinks.
I am pretty much using alternatives now as I try to lose another ten
pounds.

I love 3FatChicks forums, but it is frustrating to hear of items that are
strictly US. I tried Direct diet once, but the shipping cost was terrible.

Kudos to you healthmatters. 115 lbs lost on IP - and maintained for almost a year now. You are definitely an inspiration and an excellent role model for us.

I discovered The Simply Bar and ordered online through Well.ca. I had no idea they were available at Superstores. I bet they're more reasonably priced there as well. I'll make a point to investigate our local Superstore for them this weekend. I also have ChocoRite's cappucchino protein powder mix, which I find a reasonable replacement for the IP cappucchino - especially if I mix in some instant decaf coffee granules.

Healthmatters.....congrats on your amazing loss! Are you doing an alternative program or IP? I'm from Red Deer as well!

Chikara 05-10-2012 09:59 PM

For Ottawa Folks...WF products at the College Square Loblaws at Baseline and Woodroffe in the Kosher section...most products there. Miracle shirataki noodles at T&T Asian Grocery on Hunt Club.

I am using a few IP things sometimes now. I buy the jello, still, but I might look at that Great Lakes collagen as mentioned earlier. Mostly I use Proti oatmeal from proteinwell.ca for my breakfast and a juice from Protidiet, for lunch. For a snack in the evening I use a bar - simply bar, or slimdown bar from Shppers Drugs or Superstore, or Pure protein bar from walmart. Then I am mixing in chocorite and isofemme powder sometimes. So, I guess in answer to your question, I am doing alternatives. I really want to get to a healthy BMI.... a place I have never been. I am going to keep losing until the end of June and then I'll phase in like I did on IP.

willsmashfat 05-10-2012 10:36 PM

I am in Lindsay, Ontario (near Evepet).
Where do you get Chocorite products?

Ei8ht 05-10-2012 10:59 PM

Hello fellow Canucks!
I purchased the new Ideal Protein Cookbook from my coach yesterday (which adheres to Phase 1 & 2) and it's pretty awesome - my only point of contention is that 85% of its recipes call for Walden Farms products.

So, I went on a bit of hunting trip today and was successful at larger Metro's. When I got home, I couldn't help but taste test a few.... and um.. barf. What is the big deal about these products?! I'm planning on using them for cooking purposes only that's for sure.

Now, a product I did find absolutely amazing is Wildwood's Zesty Garlic Aioli http://www.wildwoodfoods.com/product...garlic-aioli-0 It's honestly so tasty!
