The Canada Thread
Without wanting to create a segregation of sorts, I thought it would be a good idea to establish a 'depository' for all things Canadian in relation to our collective IP-Passage, that is.
While I truly enjoy this forum, the fact that it's predominantly American poses a bit of a disconnect when it comes to products, restaurants etc... Walden Farms products for example, are sold in Canada but in limited locations http://waldenfarms.ca/ I welcome all Canadians to participate in this thread - it has the potential to be a useful resource for us Northern Folk :] Cheers, Élise |
I've found Walden Farms products can be bought online at a lower cost through:
http://www.thelowcarbgrocery.com/cat...ath=132_74_393 http://www.lowcarbcanada.ca/waldenfarms FYI, both of these online shops are located at or near Toronto, Ontario. |
Thanks for that! I'm not big on ordering online - but it's clear that I should get with the times lol For anyone who seeks a more visual/ tactile experience, I've been finding lots of Stevia products, dairy-free mayonnaise/aioli in Ottawa.. Here are some of my favourites:

Hello from Alberta! I too have seen many differences between the US and Canadian programs and info. End of week 2 and very happy with the program so far.
|
A quick hello from Montreal. I think it's a great idea to have info regarding products / restaurants that can be found in Canada.

Great thread.
You can find low sodium President's Choice dill pickles at Superstore/ Extra Foods/ No Frills. These are so good with Dill Zippers. Great Lakes Gelatin http://thehealingcanopy.com/brand/great-lakes-gelatin |

Central Alberta
I am from Central Alberta. This is my first time posting. However, I have maintained a 115 pound Ideal Protein loss for just about one year.
I have tried and like the Simply Bar sold at Superstore.. not found in the pharmacy section, but rather in an aisle with other protein things. I really like that they are made in Canada and aren't full of artificial things. I have used Proteinwell.ca with success and savings compared to a specialty store in Red Deer. I also like the ChocoRite powder drinks. I am pretty much using alternatives now as I try to lose another ten pounds. I love 3FatChicks forums, but it is frustrating to hear of items that are strictly US. I tried Direct diet once, but the shipping cost was terrible. |

I bet they're more reasonably priced there as well. I'll make a point to investigate our local Superstore for them this weekend. I also have ChocoRite's cappucchino protein powder mix, which I find a reasonable replacement for the IP cappucchino - especially if I mix in some instant decaf coffee granules. |

Hello fellow Canucks!
I purchased the new Ideal Protein Cookbook from my coach yesterday (which adheres to Phase 1 & 2) and it's pretty awesome - my only point of contention is that 85% of its recipes call for Walden Farms products. So, I went on a bit of hunting trip today and was successful at larger Metro's. When I got home, I couldn't help but taste test a few.... and um.. barf. What is the big deal about these products?! I'm planning on using them for cooking purposes only that's for sure. Now, a product I did find absolutely amazing is Wildwood's Zesty Garlic Aioli http://www.wildwoodfoods.com/product...garlic-aioli-0 It's honestly so tasty! |

I'll keep looking though because I need to find their sauces which is a major ingredient in the cookbook! On a similar note, I received the following message back from Walden Farms Canada: "Thank you for inquiring about our products. The following stores should have some of the Walden Farms product selection in your area. Please note that often not all Walden Farms items are stocked in the same area within the store. Loblaws Supermarket 980 Baseline Road Metro **this is untrue** 3310 McCarthy Rd Alternatively you can request our products from the store manager at your local supermarket or specialty store and we will gladly work with them in getting it closer to your area.**I'm thinking about doing this** Our site offers the full selection and you can shop within Canada at http://www.waldenfarms.ca P.S. We introduced two all new products! Chocolate Peanut Spread & Cinnamon Raisin Peanut Spread available on-line at http://waldenfarms.ca/categories.php...Peanut-Spread- Hope this information is helpful. 1. Purchasing their products online is the same cost as purchasing from my coach, except their price is $USD; 2. After contacting their customer service with respect to shipping costs to Canada, I received a vague answer revolving around the cost shipping to Anchorage, Alaska ($16) plus the cost of shipping to a Canadian address. Anyway - I just wanted to mention that their site is garbage, at least in relation to Canadian customers. |

The only thing that I really like from WF is the thousand island sauce, that is good. |

Hello to all my fellow canucks!! I'm in SW Ontario (Oakville-Hamilton corridor)and thought I'd share some of my findings.
I've been to just about every Metro store in this area and can say that the Metro store in Burlington at Millcroft (Appleby Line/Upper Middle Rd) has the largest selection of WF products - I have also found the Shiiratake noodles in the vegetarian fridge in the Metro stores. There is also a LowCarbGrocery sub-store inside the Nutrition House in the Longo's Plaza at Walkers Line/Dundas St. Here you can get the DaVinci Syrups, some WF products and even Heinz 1-carb ketchup. |

So they they said for future orders I would pay the difference between what it would cost to ship to Alaska and to here. That said I still got dinged with duty.It is quite annoying to pay duty and then all the packages say made in Quebec on them. But then again we have no way of buying IP products in Canada without going to a clinic. That is too time consuming for me due to distance and hectic work schedule. Americans can use IPtogo. So my experience with this company's products and service was very positive but as always the cost adds up quickly when ordering out of Canada. I am not sure what the deal is with this company, they said they "used" to offer IP and are selling off excess stock put they are offering the new products as soon as they are available in the clinics. Forgot to mention MIO is on sale at Superstore for $2.99 - still the same 4 flavors as Walmart but almost $1.00 cheaper. Stock up.

Hello my Canadian friends
This is actually my first post but I have been reading most of the IP threads since the end of January. I am from Central Alberta as well. I have lost 56 lbs since Christmas and I am feeling awesome! I am starting to use some alternatives as I get closer to goal. I did my first Nashua order last week. Got 19 boxes of various IP comparable products for 219$, 46$ shipping. Will let u all know in the Alternative thread how it is when it comes. I go to sugar free and more in Red Deer about once a month for WF stuff, pure protein at Walmart or superstore and lite muscle milk at Costco.
You are all so inspiring to me and when I am feeling the wind leave my sails I just start reading posts. Thanks! Hope I am doing this post right.... |
