I had my 5 week WI today, and was thrilled to learn that I've lost 18.5 pounds since the beginning, and 13cm off my waist! I wasn't expecting much of a loss this week because of a cheat, but I'm doing my best to get back OP now.

I'm finding it frustrating that my BF is less and less supportive about the diet. He's liking the results, but he's starting to bring junk food back into the house, eating it in front of me, and sometimes encouraging me to eat some too.

I'm feeling a little frustrated about that today. Also the fact that cutting back on the junk food was good for him too. I wonder how the rest of you deal with the BF's change of attitude throughout the program?

My weight is the same as last week, but I had started switching to Alternatives last week and am afraid I might have screwed things up. Plus my coach told me that if I don't have bad breath I am not in Ketosis - well I have not had bad breath since I started this program 7 weeks agao so does that mean I have never been in Ketosis. I know some of you say that the sticks don't work is there any other signs I should be looking for to know if I am on track with Ketosis?? And also if you are doing alternatives - I watch the sugar, fat and carbs but what should my carbs be for ketosis? Sorry for all the questions but if I have gotten off the track I want back on fast!!

I have heard if you have no strong cravings, that means your in ketosis

Congrats on the loss lilone.
Sewmam: Wow! You've accomplished so much this week! You must feel so satisfied with yourself!
Sno: I think you've made a wise decision. Wishing you well with it. Please keep us posted.

Is the "gentle detox" the same as the "novi lax"? and is it the "cleanse" my coach mentioned that I should do the week after next?

Wishing everyone a great day OP!

OMG! I woke up this morning after the most vivid dream that I was eating vanilla ice cream with fresh strawberries. I was so upset I had cheated and it took a while for me to wake up and realized I didn't really do it. I guess better in our dreams than in real life.

Hi guys! Weigh in #5 today - only down 1 lb (and the days of TOM are over!). I'm more confused than I am upset. I've been 100% OP - even went over my meals for the week with my coach, and she couldn't find any red flags. One thing I have NOT done yet though, is get any kind of activity. I had planned (famous last words) to start walking and just haven't yet. I have no excuses for that. So, that is my goal starting today - get at least 30 min of walking in.

One more thing - in the past, having 'stayed on my diet' for the week and then only losing 1 lb would have thrown me into an all-out pity-party followed by a "what the heck, I'll start again tomorrow" binge fest. I credit this forum for changing my way of thinking. To me that 1 lb loss just makes me more determined to figure out what I need to do to step it up for next week! I KNOW, because of all of you, that this is just part of the ebb and flow of this diet and that I CAN and WILL reach my goal if I just stick to the program. Which leaves me with a much more empowered feeling than my old response would have!

It is amazing how this diet can change ways of thinking for sure! I used to be an all or nothing person especially on diets....if I slipped and had a chocolate bar, well I would convince myself the day was a write off and gorge on take and other sweets.

Good for you not letting the 1lb get you down, we all want it off quickly, but a loss is a loss. I find it easier to stay on track, because I feel so much better on IP.....thankfully, I've heard some people aren't so lucky that way.

Keep going, your doing great!

Great on the weight loss.....sorry your BF isn't as supportive as you NEED him to be. I am lucky that my husband is very supportive......but he does sometimes question the diet like "aren't you ever going to have a cheat day...or no fruit...at all...what kinda diet is that" lol then I explain and he shuts up! I still have lots of junky foods in the house....tons of chocolate from Easter and I am a chocoholic......but I don't crave....sometimes I think mmmm but the thoughts and cravings are no where near as strong as they would be if I was eating a load of bad carbs. I am just trying to get myself to a place where I have control and it doesn't matter what is around.....food is not controlling my life any more.

Holy rant....not sure if any of this jabber helps, but try explaining that his support will help you in this journey.....and take his crappy junk food some where else.

Visit this site often.......you will do great!

Hello again everybody! Active day today!

I had those food dreams too, especially in beginning of Phase 1 - I'd dream that I forgot and ate something forbidden. When I started the phase-out process, it happened again, like I gained every pound back. It was like the dreams I still have of being in college and forgetting to go to my final or realizing I never went to class and now it is time for the final. after all these years...

Got more done on the vines today. It was cold and drizzly out so it was harder to do. My hands were cold and numb, even with gloves on, but we got alot done. My brother came out and used the pressure washer. I'm glad he did it, because I tried to handle it and it was like a machine gun! Almost knocked me over! ;) The washer took care of the carport loose paint, but those darn ivy vines are stubborn. Still, it looks alot better than it did.

I may just take the day off tomorrow to let my hands recover a bit, or find some inside work to do...

Just made my dinner of my usual stir-fry on a salad, but with brown rice and a sweet/sour sauce I made of the WF apricot spread, vinegar and tamari, and some 5-spice. It was really good, and will be on my favorites list. Am finding that even though I can have meat twice a day, with the complex carb at night, I am quite satisfied to not have the meat at dinner. I feel like I should put on my love beads or something, eating brown rice again... ;)

Well, I'm pooped...will keep trying to read all these posts, but welcome to all the newbees and congrats on everybody's progress!!! Yahoo!!!

Welcome prettyone! You'll love it! I really didn't know how I was going to loose all my weight, and this program saved my life. I'm eternally grateful. I really like how they try to teach us what the body is doing - that will help us long term to make the wisest decisions on food.

Anyway, good luck!

I thought i was in ketosis yesterday but i woke up starving. I can't wait for the less/no cravings part to kick in. I know it should be soon. Maybe i kicked myself back out yesterday with a restricted and too much splenda. Not sure but not happy today.

Sorry just venting......

Good luck everyone.

hang in there Mickeymom. I'm thinking that if all you had was the eggs and ham, it should not kick you out of ketosis. It is the carbs that might do that. At any rate, don't beat yourself up too much, just pick yourself up and keep going. Not much else we can do, and we've all been there, believe me....:carrot:

Just started phase 2 this week. Had to work today and didn't have time to pack a lunch so grabbed some veggies and a bar. Anybody have some days on phase 2 where you just did a phase 1 day? It seems to be more of a habit breaker than really relevant to weight loss. Any thoughts?

Morning!

I'm a little frustrated this week. I've been 100% OP since starting, and have had great losses so far. But since my last WI on Monday I lost a pound, then gained it back, plus another half pound. I'm nowhere near my TOM, I have not encountered the "big C", and as far as I can tell, I'm not retaining water. I suppose I could be losing inches, but my clothes haven't felt any different recently. I'll just hope for a big loss next week and (hopefully) just write this one of as an anomaly.

In more uplifting news, I made it through a couple of first-time challenges this week, too. The first was going out to a bar with my friends. I'm usually a social drinker, and I...well, socialize a lot. :p I made it through the evening with lots of water and some decaf coffee, and ordered a dry skirt steak and nixed the garlic mashers. And deflected plenty of smart*** comments from my friends.

After that, I had to go to three days of meetings at a hotel and went out to lunch with co-workers 2 out of the 3 days. I, too, did the salad with EVOO and lemons that I saw mentioned above.

I'm proud of myself for not even being tempted to cheat, but I just wish my iron willpower was rewarded by my scale. Haha!

Wow! You sure deserve to be proud of how you handled the events - that really speaks well to your ability to keep the weight off when you get into Phase 4. You've probably heard it a zillion times here, but don't let temporary stalls deter you from your goal. It WILL happen, and your health will be vibrant for it!

Good luck!

Happy Friday Everyone!!!
As usual, I could not wait to come home and check every one's success stories for the day! I find it so helpful to see others who have the same questions and daily struggles. Thank you everyone.
Tomorrow is my first WI. I am so worried. I have been 100% OP all week. I still worry that I will not be happy with my results, it's weird, I know.
This has been a VERY difficult week. I will be glad when the vivid dreams and nightmares go away. I am still waking up sweating. Otherwise, I feel good. I do notice that I feel like I am retaining water every evening. It goes away during the night...odd!
YAY! Week one is GONE!!!!!!!!!YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who knows why people act the way they do? What I do know is that through this process, you will find that you are doing it for YOU, for YOUR HEALTH and future, so those little slights will matter less and less because you know you are on the right track. They are just bugs on the window screen...
