I'm new - day 4 started a few hours ago - my second time around and I must say, quite motivated and excited now that I've found this site - you guys totally rock! I did the Tran Tien plan about a year ago, lost 40 pounds, no variety (actually, more lack of imagination than anything else!).

If my goal was to gain my weight back by falling back into old habits I would be able to say that I had been successful... Unfortunately that was NOT my goal!!

New start, new day, new to site - tell me how it can get any better than that!!

Have a great day everyone!

Welcome!! This is also my second time and I've noticed from reading the "Maintainers" site that some of the folks who posted regualrly at one time aren't posting now, haven't updated their ticker in a long time, and it makes me think I had better stay close to this website for long term motivation and maintenance. Sewmam is a great example; she's lost the weight and stays in touch here and is maintaining well. She's my role model, along with Wuv!

You have very nice, steady weight loss. Don't they say, "Steady wins the race"? Mine also seems slow compared to others, but I'm a little older than most (mid 50's), in menopause, and have hypothyroidism.

Have to say yesterday I heeded the advice posted yesterday regarding keeping 4-5 hours between meals. I typically have no restricteds. I did a little bit of simple exercise. My weight is down 1.4 pounds from my WI three days ago. Not scientific, but perhaps the 4-5 hours lapse is the key. Also drank 1 gallon/water each for the last 3 days. Will be keeping 4-5 hours between main meals now and watching carefully. One thing that is great about the 4-5 hour lapse between the meals is that it is retraining me not to snack between meals. I think snacking has been a slippery slope for me prior to IP.

:woo:

I am leaving for a trip next week for 5 days at a conference in a hotel. I am planning to bring along my food in my suitcase for the plane. Any suggestions/experiences that others have had traveling they could share with me?? I am nervous about having to eat out all week!!:?:

Happy Birthday to your little man and good luck with the party.

I have not travelled any length away, but Denny's has a fit fare veggies skillet, I substitute the potatoes for extra broccolli and ask for little olive oil if it is used. They put in tomato but is allowed twice a week and they put in 2 egg whites with spinach, so you can count that as some of your protein for the day. It is awesome.......Good luck

Congrats on the loss lilone.
Sewmam: Wow! You've accomplished so much this week! You must feel so satisfied with yourself!
Sno: I think you've made a wise decision. Wishing you well with it. Please keep us posted.

Is the "gentle detox" the same as the "novi lax"? and is it the "cleanse" my coach mentioned that I should do the week after next?

Wishing everyone a great day OP!

I remember dreaming lots about cheating with food about the first 3or 4 weeks........ Thankfully waking up and realizing it was a dream....lol. I haven't lately tho....weird

Re travelling, I keep a zip lock bag in my purse (obviously not taking that bag onto the plane in my purse) filled with some WF indiv packed salad dressings, a berry pomegranate Mio (I'll use this in place of wine any day!), a soup packet, a chocolate liquid stevia bottle. I can eat out comfortably as well as handle being at cocktail parties, happily.

WI tonight! Can't wait! Although I usually WI on Sat am, so I know it may not be as big a loss. But by my home scale I am down 5.4 lbs.....so we shall see. Thought about curtailing my water today as I do not want the afternoon bloats...... any thoughts?

I know what you mean. You realize that drinking all the water is really the best thing but we so want to see that lower number on the scale! I'd probably fight the urge to not drink the water and just go ahead and drink it since next week, you'll see a bigger loss most likely and this diet is about teaching healthy habits and a long term perspective. It's tough though, but you are worth it! Do what you know in your heart is right for you. (And let us know what you decide.)

Hey everyone, read the post from yesterday....lots of rhubbard talk going on...lol. I have looked here for fresh but didn't think to look for frozen.

Had WI#6 and down 2lbs. Pretty happy with that, obviously I would love a visit from the whoosh fairy to take it off quicker, but every little loss is getting me closer to my goal.

I am thinking of doing the cleanse recommended, but not sure. I haven't read too many who have done and have read some that have done it, it didn't do much????

I can't believe 6 weeks of this diet and haven't cheated once......that has never happened before.

Have a great OP day everyone

Good morning IPeeps! I woke up in a cranky mood...just really irritable, but then I thought, "I must have lost a lot of fat this week and so I have some extra estrogen floating around!" That helped, along with checking in here...just hearing from people on the same journey is amazingly helpful! I took Wuv's challenge to stay off the scale (although I did try the Omron when it arrived but that was a few days ago) so I really have no idea where I'll be for my WI tomorrow...excited to find out!

salmongirl 04-20-2012 09:34 AM

I miss my scale! I had DH hide it after my last weigh-in and now I can't find it! It is like driving without a map! I want to be surprised at my next weigh-in but what if it is not the surprise I am expecting! Deep Breath! I can do this.
I think it is going to be a great day here in Idaho, lots of sunshine! I am still building my retaining wall in my garden but hope to finish this weekend. That keeps me busy and my mind off of my scale!

I hope everyone has a great day and stays 100% OP so the fat just melts off.

MaggieD 04-20-2012 09:42 AM

TGIF, my IP friends!

Congrats, kelly, on another successful WI. Keep up the great work!

Grat job, salmongirl and LSJ100, on staying off the scale. I keep saying I'll do the same, but haven't found that extra bit of willpower to do so.

Last night I ate out for the first time since I started IP. Because it was an upscale restaurant and a business dinner with one of my most important clients and my boss, I felt a bit awkward and conspicuous about being so specific about my food order. However, the restaurant was great about accommodating my requests (grilling the salmon dry and with no sauces, serving the house salad without the tomatoes, replacing the corn salsa with steamed asparagus, etc). Given the situation, I didn't want to whip out my WF single pack dressing, so I just had the restaurant bring me some EVOO and lemon slices and used them to make a tasty salad dressing. So I managed to stay OP! I owe this site TONS for giving me the courage and ideas on how to successfully eat out while in Phase 1.

It's another beach weekend for me too. I'm planning out my menus now and will head down to our beach house soon. I'm not sure the weather 's going to cooperate 100% though!

Fortunately, I have lived near all of them at various times, so I got to spend time with my nieces and nephews and watch them grow up. It formed a bond that I treasure and I love them all dearly.

wow you are getting tons accomplished sew. I am also one of 8 children, I am #7 I have 3 sisters & 4 brothers. 18 nieces & nephews and 5 great nieces & nephews. I love being in a big family.

Good morning IPers! Happy Friday!

I find it so much easier to stay on track when I check in here so will check in everyday (added to my reminders on my phone :D) .

We picked up the organic veggies from the food co op. The items I cannot eat at this time, DH and my mom will have. DH likes to juice the beets & carrots which used to be one of my favs but given its glycemic levels and it is non OP I will pass.

Thank goodness I wasn't the only one having strange food dreams..Every other day, I dream that I'm eating candy or chips or ice cream and after a few bites, tell myself, "OMG, I broke my 100% OP", only to wake up that it was all a dream!!! :p It doesn't help that the kids eat pizza and ice cream in front of me..last night, I found myself sniffing at pizza and ice cream and swore that I gained a few lbs just by sniffing :dizzy: 2 weeks and still 100% OP, yay!!!

Happy Friday everyone..

WI is tomorrow morning..

Morning. I am on Day 4 of my restart. I am struggling today. Headache and hungry. I ate eggs and ham for breakfast. Not a great start i know but i was STARVING. I thought i was in ketosis yesterday but i woke up starving. I can't wait for the less/no cravings part to kick in. I know it should be soon. Maybe i kicked myself back out yesterday with a restricted and too much splenda. Not sure but not happy today.

Sorry just venting......

Good luck everyone.

Any suggestions for water retention? Every morning I wake up with swollen fingers. I only eat recommended amount of sea salt and plenty of water ( about 100-120 ozs ) my coach said to drink at least 80 ozs so figured more was better. Am I drinking too much?

This happened to me reeeeeally badly for the first few weeks, but I haven't had them in a while. The guilty feeling is the funniest part!

Anyway, I had my 6th WI this morning and am down another 3 pounds. Hooray! But here comes the tricky part: I am currently waiting in the airport to board a flight to Las Vegas for my best friend's bachelorette party. I have all my food packed and ready to go, but I am really nervous about this weekend. The nature of a bachelorette party is not conducive to disciplined dieting, and I am worried about going too overboard.
