Default 5 K run

Hey everyone,
I know that this topic is going to get my yelled at quite a bit......lol
I am almost done my journey on Ideal Protein and it has been incredible! As a personal goal I have decided to run my first ever 5 k run (huge deal for me as I have never been a runner)
I have exercised since day 2 of this diet and have never felt any dizzyness or outdone it at all. My coach has totally praised me for doing so well and I think because I worked out so much before, this has allowed me to continue exercising throughout my journey.
My question is for any runners out there. Have any of you ran any 5 k runs while on IP?
Again I do not want to get yelled at here lol I am only asking those who have ran or exercised throughout the program as well for any advise they may have.

Thanks again
T

I have run 5Ks I have also exercised throughout the IP program and ran 5Ks before starting the diet.e

It wasn't bad at all. I didn't feel dizzy or light headed. I just made sure to drink plenty of water the night before and in the morning before the race. I also made sure to eat a restricted food before the run. I had plenty of energy.

I'm sure you can do it. What does your coach think about it?

my only other advice is to PRACTICE before the race. When I was getting ready for my first 5K (I wasn't a runner either) I signed up for the race and found out the race route. I practiced for a good two weeks before the actual race date. That was the best thing I did! It gave me I good idea of whether or not I could run a whole 3.1 miles and made me ready for what to expect race day.

Do you know where and when the race is? Have you been running while you have been exercising? Running on a treadmill is WAY different then running outside.

Good Luck!!!!

Check out the book 'running start to finish' - my mom used that book to start running and has run 6 marathons since and numerous 10k's and half marathons. There are training plans in the book that suit all runners and all plans (at least 5, 10, half and full marathons)

I didn't exercise like that during my IP journey...but I am SOOOO excited to start...I really can't wait to feel the burn.

And I'm sure you and your coach have talked about making sure you have extra packets...you don't want to run out of calories and eat something you shouldn't.

PS - sorry that you felt the need to ask not to be yelled at...:/

Aww thank you! The whole "getting yelled at" is sort of what I thought would happen. So many people are against exercising on this diet! Thank you so much for the name of that book!

OMG thank you so much for your reply!!!!!
I am glad I am not the only one! I have been running on a treadmill for the last 4 weeks but been doing intense cardio the whole 11 weeks on IP.
I assume running outside is soooo different so I plan to run about 3 times a week outside and do interval sprints and stuff at the gym on oppposite days.
My coach isnt the greatest....she is ok..just not great.
I feel I educate her on this diet not vice versa......lol

I cannot wait to do this race as I have wanted to for so long just never got around to it!!
Thanks for your support!!
