Maybe the rules are different in Canada? I don't know, but I stick with the 2 cups vegees at lunch and again at dinner, with 5 oz of meat, not 8. I always have my snack at night too. I'm thinking you want to follow the protocol because it deals with the pancreas and a steady blood sugar level, and that's why it can work.

I have made the mushroom, brocoli or chicken soup everyday for many months, but I boil my vegees first and then use an immersion blender to puree them, then add the dissolved soup to heat it up. I water them down alot because I don't like the really thick consistency. I also add parsley and whatever spices I feel like. It makes a huge bowl that is filling and great in the cold winter.

I am lucky, in that I've had some terrific coaches who are not doctors, but very knowledgeable and if they don't know the answers, they find out. I went to a presentation at two clinics and at one, a nurse gave the talk and she spent most of the time talking about how people cheat. I thought, do you really need to talk to us like school children? So I went with the other clinic and have been very happy.

Hang in there. Over time, I've gotten pretty creative with the packets. Otherwise you go nuts eating the same thing over and over. )

Billster you may want to look into getting a new coach. You are right. No reason to pay for them. If you spend enough time on this site, you will probably get all the answers you need but see if you can get a better coach. IP wants to know about their bad coaches and centers.

I think your supplements are fine. Omega's are good stuff and so are the other ones. I never heard of cinnamon before though. But, when you get a good coach, you will go over this with them. I would be more concerned about taking too much of something that already exists in the IP products.

Always take your evening snack even if you have to force it. Our body needs that extra protein overnight to do the good stuff to our bodies. I know. I am often full after dinner. You can take your evening snack any time, even before bed. I will say this, that protein can wake you up. I will be dozing off and then I remember I need to take my snack and it wakes me up for another hour or so.

I see the chicken soup as a base. Loved it week 1 but could not stand it after. Tastes like chicken fat and milk to me. So, I add a lot to it. My fav is leftover mashed cauflower and curry powder. I add other things but that seemed to help a lot. Also blended some cooked brocoli into it once. I believe the soups are high in potassium. And sodium.

And most importantly, there is nothing wrong with your weight loss, you are doing fine. It takes time for your body to adjust and not everyone loses or has significant loses every week. Some alternate weeks.

A typical day looks like this for me-
Breakfast- IP Shake or omelet with ¼ cup veggies BUT this week I got the IP crepes and I add a lil WF apple butter to it and the WF syrup.
Lunch- (this is the hardest for me, since I HATE the soups!) I have either a shake again or the soup with ½ cup veggies and salad with another cup of veggies.
Dinner- 8oz meat (mostly chicken and fish), salad and however many cups of veggies I have left for the day.
Snack is a pudding and sometimes a few pickles.
I’m not a fan of the food to be honest. Its starting to grow on me but I have a hard time with the soups. I am getting much more creative with my veggies, so its nice to change things up that way. I have also found a store 45 minutes from me which carries the whole WF line, so I spent a good $50 there and got some stuff. The sesame salad dressing makes a GREAT stir fry. Some days I’m just NOT hungry so I only have 2 IP packs and my dinner (no snack) I just think if I’m not hungry why would I eat? The only thing I can think of is maybe some of my supplements I take could be affecting the weight loss. I told my “coach” what I was taking and she said not to stop. I’m not sure if I should spend any more money and buy all of their vitamins. The ladies at the clinic I go to are ALWAYS trying to sell me more and more. Like come on, I’m a social worker I don’t make millions!! I take the following;
-IP calcium, potassium and multivitamin
- Cinnamon and garlic supplements, omega (fish oil), green tea supplement, vitamin D and a vitamin B complex. None of them have any calories in them.
A good coach can make all of the difference for sure, and thankfully I've got one of the good ones. As Lisa said, make sure you get in ALL of your IP foods for the day even if you aren't hungry. This is already a low calorie diet and if your calorie count drops even more by not eating your 3rd packet it can stall your weight and loose muscle mass as opposed to fat. So eat ALL of your food hungry or not. Also start eating one restricted food in either the morning or for lunch. Many of us eat one every day and loose just fine. And last but not least, make sure you are drinking all of your water. Not drinking enough can slow down your weight loss too.

I have to disagree regarding the protein portions, The newest protocol sheet calls for 8oz. of protein at dinner. A few days a week I will take 3oz. and have it at lunch and the remaining 5 oz. and have at dinner. My coach told me that was fine to do if I wanted to spread it around.

I agree with Dana, you should be using the higher of the protein 8oz. This is why the protocol changed...5oz wasn't enough with the combinations of the products we use. Also, when it comes to the restricted, I have had one from the beginning 42 weeks now and have had one since day one, I have mine for breakfast.

I increased my protein to the 8 oz based on the updated sheet being posted on this site. The supervisor of my site wouldn't agree the protocol changed from the 5 - 8 oz recommendation but now my site is recommending their clients to get 8... just another benefit of relying on the information shared on this site...

I hadn't heard that yet about the increase in protein...I go in tomorrow and will ask. Since I'm on Phase 2, it may not matter much, but it's interesting how the info is not disseminated uniformly to the 'ranks.'

The protocol sheets are not different in different countries. Some coaches are not using the latest ones.

My fav IP products are : choc drink, pre mixed mango, choc pudding, southwest cheese curls, white cheddar crisps, choc puffs. I just got the potatoes to try. I dont like the soups either. For veggies I eat alot of cauliflower, broccoli, green pepper. Im trying out some new veggies like rutabaga to make fries with. When Im not feeling up to eating lunch I blend up a choc drink with 2 cups of frozen spinich. Its filling. I also just started drinking my choc drink mixed with my coffee sooo satisfying and yummy! Lots of great recipes on here. Im going to make those pancakes tomorrow for breakfast! But you have to put it in your mind that this isnt forever, its like medication that you are taking until you are done losing your weight.

You have to eat to lose. Dropping your calories too low by not eating everything on the plan will result in your metabolism slowing down, which will slow your weightloss even further.

The plan is the plan for a reason....if the packets were optional, they would say optional (and they don't). Why pay money and not follow the plan?

They'll take all of the time you want with them (my first consultation I was there for over 2 hours) and anything they don't know the answer to, they find the answer and either call or email me. I don't know if you want to have that drive every week but I could PM you the info if you like. Even if you don't, this site has such incredible leadership and info and the coaches here can help you out with anything you need. I believe you'll do beautifully on IP just learning from them.
I would love the info! I drive to red deer to go to my clinic. I just moved out here from Calgary and the place I go to was the first one I found. I guess you know about the store on Gatez that carries the whole WF line??

I started IP 17 days ago and have lost 5lbs but I still have YET to meet my coach! For my first consultation I met with the “back up woman” she does IP but doesn’t know IP, she couldn’t answer any of my questions and told me just try it out for the week and talk with the normal lady next week. Well my first WI I lost 4.4lbs and I was really happy BUT it was the backup lady again! So I held onto my questions for another week. I went to my WI on Thursday and SURPRISE the regular lady forgot about my appointment, so the receptionists took me in (REALLY??) so I didn’t get my inches done, only my weight and lost 0.6 which I was SO UNHAPPY with. I have really stuck to this diet and have done everything I should be, well ok I might eat an extra cup of veggies a day from time to time when I’m really getting the munchies. I bought the ketosis sticks to make sure my body is responding and it sure is. My co-worker is on IP as well and she cheats all the time and still loses the weight, I just don’t get it! My co-worker did say that my period could be causing the lack of weight loss. Well don’t get me started on that (if only my coach told me), this might be too much information but I’m 12 days late (blood test done and yes I’m NOT pregnant) doctor said that periods get really out of wack for some women in ketosis.
I guess what I’m trying to get at is that I really want this to work but at $90 a week and only 0.6 lost, it is hard not to get frustrated….
On another note, I'm SO HAPPY to have found this site! You are all wonderful xoxox
As you can see, you've got lots of willing coaches right here, from all the responses I've read so far!!!!
I agree and so will everyone else who has had success with this program. We've all had to force ourselves to eat at times. Ketosis will do that to you. Your coach sucks like so many of them (don't mean to insult the good ones here) we all know who they are and who they aren't. That's why you'll learn more here, than from your coach. We all must be pro-active on this plan.
So...congratulations for reaching out and asking your questions. They will all be answered and we will make sure you do this right even if your lousy coaches don't. Sorry for my rant...but I am sick of people who deal with these products without proper training. They need to be reported, seriously.
Stick with us kid...we all keep each other informed and positive!
EAT EAT EAT and PS....the ketosis stick does NOT have to be dark or anywhere near it for you to be in a mild state of ketosis. That's all you need, so don't worry about the color. I had a wonderful coach who is also a scientist besides being a nutritionist, so when my stick didn't turn color....he put me at ease. I lost the weight just fine and have been maintaining for over a year.

I'm in the US (Boston) and my first coach was a joke (she was more into the HCG diet than IP). My second coach has barely achieved puberty and is thin as a stick.

I told them I'm done and doing alternatives... I've been creeping that way lately since I found Nashua Nutrition.

Thank you!

I was going to private message you so I don't thread hijack but I can't seem to find that option here.

Remember these are changes for life. During maintainence I didn't need to log all the time and because I had done it slowly, many habits formed naturally. After awhile, it really was almost second nature. I did continue to weigh to monitor it and I logged my foods for a week or two when I felt I was getting off track too much nutritionally or every few months. As I got better at all of these weight loss strategies, my body became an intuitive eater. I trusted that more after training it than prior. I began to let slowly be my method but continued to use monitoring strategies periodically. Want to hear a shocker? I didn't even realize I did it! This past year I moved to a new country and went on vacation mode. Because I knew what it was I was doing and didn't want to stop, I was in denial mode. So when I made a concious effort to go back on a diet, quite honestly I was shocked to realize that I had logged in periodically over the years including a month before I made the move. I don't even remember doing it! Of course I am not suggesting you forget about maintence strategies. I'm just surprised after 3 years how routine it became. I looked at my patterns and realized why I did it that way each time. Amazing really. In the beginning I am willing to bet I had to think it through more but over time it became more intuitive. Whether or not this happens to you, the key is continuous monitoring strategies and continuing to use good habits you worked hard to develop.

Sorry Op for the thread hijack. Please continue.
