Newbies Unite... again! :)
just starting a new thread as the old one had reached it's limit... thank you Wayward for the reminder!
how is everyone doing? check in if you can! :) |
hi Everyone, I'm from Alberta Canada and heard about IP through my boyfriend's sister who is having success with the program.
I'm 39 years old, no kids and live with my wonderful supportive boyfriend who is helping me pay to join IP. I have my consultation on Saturday. I was wondering though if you're allowed to have eggs in PHase I for breakfast and can you divide your meat between lunch and dinner? Also are you allowed to make your own soup with the allowable vegetables instead of buying theirs? I'm really happy I found this site |
I have made my own soup using the allowable veggies, low sodium broth, I also added chicken and I put in tofu noodles to make a yummy chicken noodle soup-made enough for 2 days. I also made a veggie stew, same soup concept, very good. I also used meatless(tofu) hamburger in my soups.
|
Thanks June, I like to make my own meals as I'm quite fussy about prepackaged ones, I find it hard to stomach to be honest. I really would prefer making most of my own foods. Never tried tofu but I might have to give it a try this time for some variety.

The Ideal Protein Program centres on using very high grade protein isolate -- soy, whey, and egg proteins primarily. They are much more easily digested than raw and cooked food proteins and they contain essential nutrients, particularly the amino acids. You can't get those from eggs or meat and fish alone, and even less from tofu although it is a good vegetarian alternative. You need to eat three packets every day along with the supplements, vegetables and romaine salad. Soups are an excellent way to eat vegetables, if they aren't salty, and combining meat or fish and vegetables in a soup for dinner is fine with the added advantage of keeping you hydrated. If you commit 100 percent to the program, from the onset, you'll do really, really well. It is so simple. 2 salads, 3 packets, 4 cups of vegetables, 100 grams of water, supplements, lots of sleep, and no stress, mental (worry) or physical (exercise at the beginning). If this is your strategy, you should be off to a flying start. It really is that easy. :D Just one word of caution. If the cause of your weight gain is hypothyroidism, avoid soy, particularly packaged soy, soy milk, etc., and raw carcinogenic vegetables. Hope this helps. Bon Voyage. |
Back on Track
Well, Im back on track, I fell off a bit as I had a family situation here - then a Royal Carribbean cruise and Thanksgiving! But I did very well and am still losing weight!
Not as much as I would have if I had been true to IP the whole time, but today starting with my shake and no pies!!! might Wii fit a bit to get a boost! :smug: |
Good morning! Today starts my third week on IP. Normally I would have my weigh in today but will go on Monday. I'm made it through Thanksgiving without any cheating. I make a sweet potato casserole for my kids and it's the one thing I look forward to every year. I was good and resisted the urge to take even one bite of it. I was so proud of myself so while the family was chowing down on all those carbs I ate my turkey, cucumbers, lettuce and cauliflower. Not once did I feel left out. My husband is working out of state so he wasn't home but next year I'll make a feast we can both enjoy. Lately, I've given a lot of thought to what my eating habits were like before I started IP. I can honestly say I will never eat the way I did before IP. I mean over indulging is not worth the extra weight. I feel awesome , I look healthier and this is just two weeks into the program. I can't wait to see how healthy I look at 3 months.

Good Morning Newbies!
I hope you (U.S.ers) all made it through the Thanksgiving meal OP and are feeling a healthy sense of accomplishment today. I stayed OP, yay, and what was as sweet as having dessert was watching as my carb-overloaded coworkers suffered the after effects and the fact that I was feeling normal this year...a NSV if ya ask me!! For all our non-U.S.ers, I hope your days are going well too! I'm at the start of month two on IP and things are going well. My face is not as puffy, my jeans are looser and I know I'm doing something positive for myself. All good things as a result of following protocol and being kind to myself. Having a mindset of "I'm not missing out on anything, in fact I'm gaining something good" has helped tremendously. For those just starting, I say stay the course and trust that relief is within your grasp. Come here to read read read and ask questions; it's a great place for support. Hugs around the room. (and thank you Bugs for starting a new thread!) |

To all the newer newbies... you will not be disappointed with your results! Keep up the great work everyone! |
Good Day
I have been on IP for just about two weeks, second weigh in tomorrow. Two of my daughters joined around the same time in other cities in Alberta. We have had so many different things told to us about the program that confusion is ongoing. I am so thankful to have found this link. So much information though and had to grasp it all. Linden thank you for the basic concept of Ideal Protien. All your informtation was new to me. You are all inspiration. |
Lettuce
I don't care for lettuce. Is it required on the IPD?

As a male who has been fighting weight since puberty (now 26), I gotta say IP has been like finding a hidden treasure. I never was obese but have been fluffy for a while lol.
I started my 3rd week yesterday and I am already down 10 lbs in TWO WEEKS. My goal is to lose a total of 24lbs and I'm almost half way there. Should I have known about this diet , I would not have been killing myself in the gym for 2 straight months last year. Tips for those who want to excercise. DUMP THE CAR. Walk to work, I do every day. As a matter fact, I used to be hooked on coffee, but the excercise and the cool air in the morning helped me ditch that addiction. Maybe it will for you too. Can't wait to hit my goal of 190Lbs, I plan on getting a fitted suit as a present for all this sacrifice (peanut better sandwiches, oh how I miss you). Good luck to everyone! You can do it. I would be lying if I didn't think about quitting but keep your eyez on the prize and before you know it, you'll be there! |

Anyone else noticed how different their fridge looks lol. Mine used to be filled with beer and bread. Now it's full of green veggies and healthy stuff. |
Soo happy I found this site! It has been so helpful. I started the plan on 11/1 and have lost 15 lbs so far. My next WI is Monday and I am just trying to make it through the long weekend. (weekends are always the toughest as far as timing and planning meals)

went for my consultation today, coach is very very nice, but she herself is quite heavy, not sure what's up with that but I joined any way.
Wish me luck, I'm scared to go into Ketosis and feel icky:( but I know I have to get pass this stage to succeed. |

As far as being in Ketosis, I had none of the normal things, I never got sick or felt icky. Maybe you will be lucky too. I recommend keeping your sea salt handy, it will become your best friend. If you begin to get a headache put 1/2tsp of sea salt in the palm of your hand and lick it then drink some water and withing 10-15mins it will be gone :) Never be afraid to ask questions here someone is always around to answer :) |
she said she lost 54 lbs in the past, got married and is finding it hard to get back on track since her wedding two weeks ago. She said that the best thing is to do the program 100% all the way to phase 1,2,3,4 and not stop in between (which is what she did), sounds like she regrets doing that now.
I will definitely try the sea salt when I feel light headed. Do you know if I have to cook my meats/stir frys with sea salt too? or can I just use regular salt for that? Thank you. |

I had a very hard time on days 3 to 5 the first week because I have migraines but after that I have felt great. I am glad you shared that advice from your coach about not stopping and to go right through all the phases. I had been sort of debating with myself if I should phase off before Christmas and then go back on phase 1 after. Other people have phased off and have done well. But I had such a tough time starting phase one that I would have difficulty restarting. So I know I need to just keep on trucking as the phases are laid out. At our height what seems like a small loss on a bigger person makes a big difference right away. So you will be pleased within a few weeks. My before pictures below are not all from IP but IP has been the easiest and most effective of the many ways I tried to lose weight. |
One more day and i will be home away from temptation of family dinners! I did get off plan once, hopefully it won't slow me down too much. It wasn't a plan cheat, more of one of desperation from a 230 am migraine that nothing was helping, not salt or 2 glasses of water or excederine. So dr pepper saved the day. I seriously thought i was dying. I know there is no excuse, and i have to admit, it didn't even taste good! Cant wait to go home!

I wonder if I too will lose slowly, I did WW for some time and lost a bit before this, but it took a very very long time for me to lose weigh on Weight Watchers and I"ve been trying to get to my goal for years and haven't been able to on it. So I decided to try this instead. I'm scared I'll waste my money and won't like the taste of the food. I haven't even tried any yet. Tomorrow is my first day. Went grocery shopping and stocked up on lean meats and veggies, already cut up my veggies for the next 3-4 days and my bought romaine and bok choy and cut that up too to have as my salad. It's alot of work lol. My boyfriend helped me. Will definitely need to try new recipes. I was thinking I would divide my meat between lunch and dinner but when I weighed my chicken breast it was almost 8 ounces!! So will probably stick to having my meat for supper alone and have the IP packets for lunch, hope I like the soups:dizzy: |
good morning everyone and happy Monday!
I hope you're all doing great... post when you can, I would love to hear all about it! today was weigh in number 6 for me and I lost 4 lbs which puts me at -20 lbs total since I started the program on October 17th and -48 lbs since the beginning of the year. LOVE this life style change!!! :D |

Sounds like you might both go to the same clinic and have the same coach. Morning everyone, welcome to the next group of newbies! |
Good Morning everyone.
Had a crazy windstorm here yesterday and so today had to walk to work thankfully its not freezing out today. Hopefully all the Southern Albertans out there didnt experience any damage. Hope everyone is having a great day so far. I had a total cheat on the weekend and I am feeling really guilty and having a hard time getting back on track. I had a Christmas party on Friday night and when I RSVPed to it I wasnt on IP yet so I didnt really plan to have a no carb meal so I ate what was given to me which included stuffing and potatoes and I figured what the heck I had a glass of wine and a few vodka sodas. I am really regretting it because I felt aweful on Saturday and Sunday. I woke up this morning and missed my bus so I went to Macs to get a coffee and all they had was cream so I put that in my coffee this morning and now I have prolonged getting back into ketosis. But that is it! I am 100% on plan from this point forward. No more Cheats, definately not worth it! I didnt weight in last week becuase my coach was not available so I have my first weighin in 2 weeks on Friday not really looking forward to it. This will be my 4th week on plan, however I am sure I am going to have a low number because of Fridays cheat. Anyways hopefully you are all doing good and staying OP. |
