Question ? about alternatives

I know there is a lot of information out here regarding using alternative foods in place of IP foods. I would love to see some of your food journals to get an idea of what you are eating. When you shop for the alternatives, are you trying to get as close to the same nutritionally as IP?

I am not to the point to stop IP foods totally but I am averaging over $100/week and being a single mom, if I could even make a few adjustments here and there, that would be great!

I just worry that it will effect my losses.

Any insight would be awesome!

Hi there,

I am still a newbie (been OP for 4 weeks tomorrow) but I have been using only alternative products. I have lost 17.8 lbs as of this morning.

I researched the alternative products post on here until I was blue in the face and then decided to go with ProtiDiet products as they are nearly identical to that of IP.

There are tons of alternatives out there that have worked for many people... good luck!

I went on IP for 5 months and decided to switch to alternatives due to the cost. I use alot of ProtiDiet products as well, have ordered them from Nashua and proteinwell.ca (Canadian) I use the Premier Nutrition shakes from Costco and the Pure Protein peanut butter bars from WalMart. I haven't found my losses have changed at all with alternative products. I still buy the IP vitamins as I haven't found any suitable replacements.

I'm another one who's had great losses with alternatives. I order ProtiDiet products from Nashua Nutrition. It's made a great difference in my bank account.

I switched too. As I am a very slow loser I couldn't afford to keep paying for a long time. My first order was for proti thin, very similar to IP. The next order I got some Health Smart. I don't find them as filling. I'll stick to proti thin from now on. I also use the Premier Nutrition drinks from Costco.
There is a sheet on this site comparing products. It is under the stickie about alternatives at the start of the daily chats.

I wonder if I switched to alternatives if my clinic would still allow me to weigh in once a week? I am assuming no, so maybe I could get just one of the foods there...maybe the chocolate shakes. Hmmm...

Do clinics allow people to go in for just some items if you haven't phased off
with them? I would think not but I noticed some people say they are still using clinic supplements with alternative food.

I like the Pure Protein drinks and EAS AdvantEDGE drinks. I like some of the Supreme Protein Carb Conscious bars. The calories are higher on some but I like to eat it before I work out in the morning.

I've also used non flavored protein powder and added it to water with flavorings (MIO) or tea.

Just compare the nutritional facts of your fave items and check out the grocery store, vitamin stores or gnc. I know they have protein pudding AND jello at some of my stores but I have not tried them yet.

I've always been on Alts. I use Premier Nutrition shakes from Sams and the Pure Protein peanut butter or chocolate supreme bars. I've also tried the Atkins bars too but find that the pure protein keeps me full longer.

Here is a few choices on my menu:
Breakfast: Shake or scrambled egg omlet with vegi's

Lunch usually consists of 2 cups of a mix of vegi and a bar or a mixed salad with vegi's and a bar

Dinner: 8oz meat, 2c. vegi or salad.

Snack before bed: shake

My vegi's consist mainly of eggplant, zucchini, turnups, rutabaga, Romane lettuce, cabbage, brussel sprouts, califlower, broccoli. I make a stirfry of 2 or 3 of them with some garlic and sea salt. Usually I make 4 c. worth at night and eat the left overs for lunch the next day.

I use EAS, Designer Whey and Syntrax Nectar. I like Designer Whey the best and Syntrax when I am tired of chocolate and vanilla.

Has anyone used Unjury protein? Also has anyone here made their own bars? I know there is Youprotein, but I am wondering if I can make my own.
