Red face Is Lettuce Necessary?

Hi IP friends, Iam not a fan of lettuce without my ex_ favorite dressing, I still eat it but not everyday. I'd tried all WF dressings but don't like any of them, also olive oil, vinegar and sea salt and even though I don't like it a lot, I still eat it like that =(. Any suggestions to make it taste better are welcome, but do I have to eat it ,Or it's optional?

I almost never ate it - only with my "big mac in a bowl" - I had my 4 cups of approved veggies a day and lost very successfully but I don't know if that is the "right" answer .

Honestly, I do not eat a lot of lettuce. Its a filler and to help things "move". I believe it is optional that is why it is unlimited Have you tried putting a pack of splenda in your dressings? sometimes that helps

If you want the by-the-book answer, lettuce is required -- unless they've changed the book very recently. But you shouldn't be eating lettuce with a small l. Romaine (with a big R ) is important not only for the fiber but because of the nutrients it has, particularly potassium and amino acids.

You don't have to use dressing on it. Use it as a wrap or when you want something with some crunch to chew on.

Not on IP but I find that lettuce works very well in a stir-fry!

Thank you very much for you advice on splenda, I will give it a try., I even dislike it more with no dressing as other friend mentioned. When you wrote (to help things move) did you meant it will speed up weigh loss?

Not sure if this fits in the IP diet but I love my asian chicken lettuce wraps! Also good to wrap around burgers and other sandwiche meats.

For my salad "base" I use a variety other other mixed greens, spinach, and romaine.

I second the idea of using it in a stirfry. The WF Asian salad dressing works well in a stirfry too.

Hi JellyMae87! I've only been here in the forum for a short time, just in my 2nd week of the program. I don't even have enough posts to send a pm or add a siggy.

I just wanted to congratulate you on your success! I can't believe your results! You look fantastic! Says you've been a member here since May 2011, I was just curious when you actually started the program or what week you are in? I have over 100 pounds to lose and I find everyone's progress very motivating but especially when I see 100+ weight loss goals being acheived! It's always been my dream, but now I see it as a reality!

Hi Biggirl86-

I love this basic salad dressing:

whisk together 1 Tablespoon Dijon Mustard (0/0/0) and 3 Tablespoons apple cider vinegar until blended. Slowly add in 2 Tablespoons of Olive Oil, and salt and pepper to taste.

I make this at the beginning of the week, and then use it in 1 Tablespoon doses, which ends up being 1 tsp oil per serving.

Try it- you might like it!

Hello. I am now almost finished with my 14th week on IP. I started IP on August 2nd. It's been a wonderful roller coaster ride... I think that Wuv and I would both agree. But don't look at it as 100 lbs. Take it 5or 10 at a time... Set many mini goals for your self. And keep at it... And you will see the same results!!
