I have always exercised and have done so since day one on this diet. I just backed off the intensity. About 6 weeks ago, I started experiencing horrible knee pain and inflamation. I went to my chiropractor and had xrays....my knees are fine, its the muscles having issues. The way he explained it to me was I was a fit overweight person whose muscle were in "Position A". I lost the weight which brought my muscles to "Position B" but they really need/want to be in the proper "Position C". I'm doing some specific stretching exercises daily but at times have terrible pain. I've been in a knee sleeve for the past few days but tonight....all is well.
I am a big proponent of stretching. I believe THAT will be my key to being an active elderly woman. I read an article in one of my yoga magazines about KNEEHAB, a series of gentle stretching exercises specific to knee and legs that might be of some benefit to you. I'm sure it won't stop you knee replacement but it might help you get some walking in and prolong the surgery? Let me see if I can find the link and I'll send it to you. |

I had an off weekend for the first time in 18 weeks. I started phase 2 on Friday and it was going great. Then I decided, after many people pulled the "you need a free day every now and then" "one night isn't going to make you gain 50lbs back" "blah blah blah", that I would have a few drinks for my hubby's birthday. It wasn't because of the things they said, more because I had been stressed with school, work, his party, the diet, and I just decided a few wouldn't kill me. I had been thinking about it in the days leading up but thought I would be busy enough to just not do it. Boy was I wrong. I had 3 12oz cups and that's it. The problem is, I forgot to eat! I was having fun and chatting with people I hadn't seen in forever and just didn't get hungry. At about 11 I went to the snack table and grabbed a few pieces of cheddar cheese and a deviled egg. Then I grabbed 2 bottles of water and sat back down to make sure I didn't have anything else I wasn't supposed to.
Yesterday was a weird day too. I got up later than normal since we still had company at 3am. I made coffee like always and put half my shake in it and drank it. I was bound to get back on track after the night before. Well, I took a nap and never finished the other half of my shake. Then I had a big salad with 2 boiled eggs and a tiny bit of ham for lunch. I started doing homework and next thing I knew it was about 7 or so so I ate a 4oz burger. I wasn't in the mood for veggies and was just plain lazy. I fell asleep before having my bar. So, this weekend has been a bust for me. I'm up 2.4lbs from Thursday but I figure it's mostly sodium. I'm going to drink my coffee and my whole shake now and get back at it. Enough is enough. So, 18 weeks straight and not one weekend got the best of me. Believe me, I've been through weddings, funerals, parties, holidays, my husband's band playing various bars, and much more so I'm not sure what was different this time. It happened. I'm not mad. If I wasn't so determined to get back at it today or if I had ate yesterday away, then I would've been upset. I know what I need to do and that this week may be a total bust, but I did it to myself. Life goes on. On a good note, I got to see a lot of people I haven't seen in forever and they all had great things to say about how I look. I heard, "where's the rest of you" and "did you give up eating" quite a few times. ;) |
Sandy, I am going to continue phase 2 as long as I'm still losing. This experiment week may be shot to heck so I will try again next week. I am hoping to do it until Dec 8th when I need to move to phase 3 though. Good luck to you!

I have followed phase 2 since Wednesday the 19th and when I had my weighing this past Wednesday, after two weeks, where one week I followed phase 2 and one week phase 1, my loss was exactly the same as the previous two weeks where I followed phase 1 entirely. I am back to weekly weighing. So this week is the true test if I am losing more or less the same in phase 1 vs. 2. I am a slow loser. So I am expecting a loss of around a pound give or take a few ounces. if I don't lose, or if I gain, then I know I have to stay in phase 1 until I reach my first goal. |
:haphal: Hope everyone had a great weekend. We all know how mine went. :dizzy: One thing that doesn't bother me is the Halloween candy. Thank you Lord! I am down a little this morning but still up 1.8 from Thursday. It's actually surprising me how long it's taking to get rid of the weight. I will drink water ike a crazy lady today and hopefully by Thursday I'll at least be back at square 1. What a good lesson for me.
Good luck to those who weigh in today. Everyone stay strong while passing out candy or trick or treating with your little ones. :sklol: |

I do know that going back on this plan at the same time I was having my oral surgery was probably really foolish because I'm feeling like I got hit by a train and all I want to do is sleep! (Which is not me!) |
Good morning all!!
Took off for the weekend and man was that an IP disaster! You'd think that if you order a salad that you'll get enough veggies in, wrong! Lesson learned. I'm not up much if at all but I feel like I'm retaining and I'm having a small issue with big C atm, hoping to get all that sorted out by tomorrow. The big question being...do I move to Phase 2 tomorrow as planned or stick with Phase 1 another week and hope for the best?? |
