I guess this is more a "phases" question, but I couldnt' ask my coach the other day because my boys were being loud and I just wanted to get them out of there. I am transitioning into phase 3 and my question for this phase, is "am I now allowed ALL vegetables"? My coach just said over her shoulder, everything is the same except breakfast which means all veggies and everything for lunch and dinner would be the same for phase 2. I looked in our stickies here and there is a page that says ALL veggies are now allowed.
Question 2. When I get into phase 4 and have to separate my fats and carbs...can I ever have a ham and cheese sandwich? Isn't cheese a fat and bread a carb? Or a slice of cheese pizza? or do i have to save pizza, sandwiches for the one day a week "cheat" day that you are supposed to do in phase 4. Thanks everyone...just needed a little clarification.

Check out the "experienced" thread and the "maintainers" thread. Lots of useful information.
Not sure about the veggies, I think I read somewhere that it is not until P4, but I am not sure.
As regards to your sandwich question, I do not think a ham and cheese sandwich here and there is going to kill you. Would I do it everyday? No, but once a week and not counting as a cheat, sure, as long as there is maybe only 1 piece of cheese on the sandwich. If you really can't live without sandwiches, you could always have a ham sandwich with mustard and veggies and be totally good to go for dinner.
Pizza is most definitely a cheat (unless you are talking about something other than pizzeria pizza). If you are planning on making your own, you could always make a pizza with a protein, veggies, tomato sauce and go cheese-less, or just a small sprinkling of cheese.
If you have time on your hands, I would do a forum search for "Life after Phase 1". It is an incredible thread with tons of answers to exactly these kinds of questions.

You can do fat free (or low fat) cheese as well. Also - that sandwich would be absolutely fine for breakfast (even in phase 3).
I have been on maintenance for 10 days, and was told phase 3 is identical to 1/2 with the exception of breakfast - all veggies are good once you're in phase 4 though
You could have it for breakfast. No, I'm serious -- so long as you keep the fats to 15 grams. I think that makes sense. (PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong. I've been working on Phase 3 breakfasts for the last 2 hours and going crazy.) Haven't you ever made an egg sandwich for breakfast?
I am 52 years old with 3 daughters and 3 grandchildren. I have been overweight most of my life but usually wear a size 14 jeans. My highest weight was 218 but was 207 when I started IP 53 days ago. I am down to 182....that is good, but man I am having a hard time with this diet. I am so bored with the food choices and always hungry. I haven't cheated EVER, since I started IP! This is my first visit to this website so am hoping to get some food suggestions to help with the boredom. Anyone have similar problems with hunger? Still in Phase 1 so have to be careful and stay with that. My coach didn't say anything about not using bars or restricted foods to begin with like I have been reading here. I have 1 restricted food each day.....maybe that is a bad thing? If any of you could give me an example of your daily menus that would be very helpful to me.....remember phase 1 please! Thanks!!!!

Your loss is great and very sorry about the hunger. I've BUMPed Steven's recipes for you. ALL Phase 1 and luscious. If you gave us an idea of what you eat a day AND how much water you drink, we might be able to help with the hunger. Please include everything with amounts. Do you weigh the food?
The latest research is showing that people who eat one restricted each day actually do best on the program. The coaches who don't allow them are following old information.
There was a video clip somewhere about this but I can't remember where I saw it now. It said that having the restricted helps people to stay on the program longer and did not slow weight loss.

I definitely have, but I love a ham and swiss, turkey and swiss, roast beef and havarti, a delicous monte cristo....I could go on about sandwiches for days! I'll have to figure something out. Monte cristos in the morning would be ok even though I would have to doctor it a bit. If you aren't familiar, they are ham with strawberry jam sandwhiched between two pieces of french toast. The other kinds of sandwiches just aren't breakfast to me.
Thanks for answering back Linden! I drink 100 oz of water a day, every day. I have it measured out so I always know and don't have to guess how much I have drank each day. Usually have a vanilla pre-made drink for breakfast. Lunch is harder for me but I sometimes have sauteed veggies (I keep a tupperware container full of these veggies cut up and mixed together in the frig....onions, green pepper, zucchini, cauliflower, broccoli....I always measure 2 cups) and an IP omelet. Or these veggies with some lettuce raw with WF dressing and either a choc drink or crispy cereal. Lots of water throughout the day....sometimes I add a MOI to flavor it. Then for supper I usually have these same 2 cups of veggies sauteed with thin pieces of pork loin fried in olive oil, or chicken breast ( I go by the weight on the package and do 6-8oz of meat). And usually an IP bar for evening snack. Just learned about the big mac in a bowl and had that the last 2 nights for supper. 1/2 pound of hamburger fried. That was a nice change! I have been pouring over this website and getting more ideas so am excited to try some new things! The boredom has really gotten to me as I feel very deprived and hungry but new things to eat will help. And I can kind of see the end of the tunnel....only 15 pounds to go! Hope I can get to the point that I can eat on Christmas day?!?!?! Love to hear any suggestions you have!
Thanks for the info patns.....I have eliminated a restricted food for the last 2 days. My WI is always Wed am. Only 2 pounds last week, and I have been on point always with this diet so kind of disappointed with only 2 pounds But.....since reading this website it sounds like that isn't too unusual. Seems like I have a week of 3-4 pounds and the next week is around 2, then back to 3-4. Weird how the body freaks out and holds on to weight.....can't it see I am fat????!!!!! I am so glad I stumbled on to this website....it is helping alot! Wish my coach had given me this as a tool....

15 pounds! That'd keep most people going. And, except perhaps for the sauteed onion, you're right on the mark as far as I can see. Recently, when I roast a vat of vegetables I sprinkle wafer thin slices of uncooked onion on top a little after they come out of the onion. Wilts the onion, infuses the flavor, but doesn't really cook it. And the variety will help a lot. I know there are recipes I've used on Phase I that I'll continue to make the same way in maintenance. It's good to build up a repertoire. And GOOD LUCK.
About the hunger. Sometimes when I drink a lot of water with a meal, or shortly after, it feels like I'm hungry. Might that be it?
