  • Just thought this would be interesting and maybe motivational for people.
Answer all questions or as many as you want.

How did you come up with your goal weight?
Do you have a particular date in mind to reach it by?
Do you have any mini goals?
    Who is your biggest supporter?

For me, all the charts and computer stuff say my goal weight should be 140lbs. I was once 140lbs, a size 8, and I couldn't get into any smaller clothing because of my large body frame. I then was told by my dr. that I needed to gain 10 lbs and not to follow those charts to the "T" because not everyone is built the same. So, I am 5'9", large framed and well muscled, I could pass for a guy. So what I did was look at the men's chart and take the low weight in the normal section for my height and came up with 170 but moved it down to 165 for a buffer.

The date I want to lose this by is May 5, 2012. 2 reasons why: 1. My birthday is just before that and I want to bring in my 35th birthday in a healthy way. and 2. I graduate from college with a teaching degree on May 5th and want to start my career healthy and energized.

Mini goals, yes and no. I want to lose 40lbs by thanksgiving. I havent seen my mom since starting this weight and I really could use some ohh's and ahhh's.
By Christmas I want to get to Onederland.

Supports: You all for the most part. A co-worker/friend is also doing this but we have hardly any time to see each other. Spouse too although he quite often forgets and offers me a pepsi.

So thank you all here for being my biggest supporters
  • Great post! My goal weight is based on my weight when I felt the best. I keep an old driver's license of me at that weight and I actually like the picture!

No date in mind to reach my goal... my bigger goal is to be at my goal weight 3 years from now (maintaining).

mini goals? 10 pounds at a time. Also I'm running a 10k in November and have a time goal for that.

My biggest supporters are my boyfriend and cousin. My cousin is the person who introduced me to IP, so I keep her updated and she is great. My boyfriend does all the cooking in the house and has made wonderful changes in our hosue to accomodate me!
  • I came up with my goal weight (which is a little heavier than I truly want to be) by considering my age and where I feel my best. I am happiest in a size 4 or 6 and my goal weight will get me there!

I would like to be at goal by New Year's Eve. Not that I have huge plans, but I have a rockin outfit that I have had for years that I want to wear...it is a size 4!

My mini goal is 145 lbs as that is where I am in a healthy BMI range. It is just surreal to me that it has been 4.5 years since I have been there. My neighbors have never seen the "normal" me...and I am excited about getting back to a happy place!!!

My biggest supporters are my mom...who is amazing and a friend. This friend, strange enough isn't really a close friend but we are from the same hometown and she always txts me on the day of my weigh in to check in and throughout the week just to see how I am doing!

Maybe by New Year's I will have a nice man in my life...hopefully one that can cook as I am getting sick and tired of doing all this cooking myself!!! LOL

The license is a good idea. I will have to see if i can find an old one of mine, maybe put it on fridge for motivation to stay out of it.
10k is great! I barely made it through a 5k but maybe when i get to my goal weight I will be able to do a 10k.
That is awesome that your bf cooks and is so supportive. I cook for hubby and kids and it is hard to cook meals for them and then another for myself

Wow a size 4! I can't even imagine. I am aiming for a 12 or 10 but mostly I want my flexibility and energy back.
  • Hi, my goal weight is between 130 and 135. Its funny, I would have considered that "fat" in my 20s. If I only appreciated then how skinny I actually was! I chose that weight because I feel good there, and it is realistic to maintain. I would like to reach this weight no later than January 1, 2012. If it takes a little longer, that's okay too. I will start to feel much better once I am in my 140s.

I am not choosing too many mini goals because I find they may just set me up for disappointment. My goals it to try and consistently lose an average of 3 pounds a week, and workout a minimum of 3 times a week as well.

My family is by biggest supporter, but I havent found it too hard yet. I do miss the wine with friends while socializing....but it is only short term and worth it.

GOOD LUCK to everyone! Its great to share and read about others success. It keeps me motivated and makes me feel like I am not in this alone. I have yo yo dieted for 15 years now and am really hoping I have the strength to make this the last diet I ever do!!!
  • I came up with my goal weight just really based on charts and my age. But what I'm really going for more than weight is a healthy BMI. My mini goals are to get out of the present decade and into the next. Right now I have four more pounds before the next decade, and then I will work on the next one. As for my main supporter, it would be my daughter as she is on IP with me. It's really been great to do it with someone else. However she doesn't need to loose that much weight, so she will be done long before me. We are just both so excited to see each other lose weight. She's excited because she wants her mom healthy and around for along time, and I'm SO excited for her because she is only in her early 20's and I don't want her to go through what I have gone through.
  • Wow great post, Ryuu. Really makes one think. I picked 145 b/c I was happy when I was there. And it puts me at the higher end of my weight range. I just want to be realistic. Sure 135 would be nice but I'll see when I get to 145. I figure I must be a larger frame. I am 174 lbs and I am just barely in a 14. I'd like to be a size 12 at the very most. At my heaviest, I was 196. I hated looking at pictures of myself. So that is another reason, I want to look at a picture of me...and say hmmm...that's nice or even that's ok. Not OMG!! My best friend is on HCG but struggling. She cheers me on like no one else...she and I support each other. We both know how hard it is.
  • I picked my goal weight because it was a clean hundred pounds away. When I get there I will evaluate and see if I need to go lower. I have never been thin so I don't have a former number to use

I want to be there my the end of April. That would give me time to go lower if needed before my birthday in June. I really want to be think before I leave my 20s.

My mini goal is to be out of the 200s by the new year. Also I want to get off of my BP meds. I will also start training for another marathon or triathalon too.

My biggest is my mom. She really wants to see me healthy and will try to help any way she can.
  • How did you come up with your goal weight? This is what I weighed 25 years ago. Once I am there I will probably go to 200 but we will see. It will just depend how I look and feel. I am also a large frame, my mom is as well and she is done to 149, she needs to stop now her bones are starting to poke out.

Do you have a particular date in mind to reach it by? I don't have any date set I just want it off. Christmas sounds like a good time to be at goal though. It will be a nice Christmas present to myself so I can go shopping...haha

Do you have any mini goals? 10lbs are my mini goals, ONE more lb and I will be in a decade I haven't seen in years. I should hit that next week!!...WOOHOO!!!

Who is your biggest supporter? my mom and my brother but mostly my mom. She buys my food for me because I can't afford it and wants to help me get this weight off. Along the way she has loss 45lbs and my brother loss 52lbs. They are both at their goal which I am very happy about. They can figure out what we can and can't have and by the time I get there They can tell me all about it....haha

I officially start on Monday but here ya go!

my goal weight right now is 150 lbs.... I am 5'4 and have a large frame so my 'ideal' weight based on the above is between 134 - 151. I was a young teenager the last time I was 150 lbs... never as an adult!

I would love to be 20 lbs lighter by Christmas and would be happy to reach my goal in the early new year

My husband is my one and only supporter at this point as I haven't told anyone else about my plan
  • Great thread! I'm glad you posted it, because I haven't quite charted out my goals until now. My goals are based upon Holidays because I think that will help me stay OP when the tough celebration days come along. Here's what I'm thinking:

    Current Weight: 164

    2.5 weeks to Halloween: 10 lbs off/ 154

    6 weeks to Thanksgiving: 18 lbs off/ 146

    10 weeks to Christmas: 30 lbs off/ 134

    11 weeks to New Years: 32 lbs off/ 132

spcnme- I too want to rock it on New Years Eve with an awesome outfit and toast with my first glass of champagne in months, celebrating a new year and a healthy me.

My biggest motivator is my boyfriend of five years. I want to be back to the weight I was when I first started dating him, when I felt strong and sexy and happy. He's the only one that I've told about the program, and he's supporting me all the way!

    These are great questions!
    1) Goal weight has been hard for me and I'm not totally solid on 140. I don't have a scale and have never really weighed myself over the years. I weigh myself more now on this diet than I ever have. I've always judged my weight by my clothes. I've spent most of my adult life in 10's or 12's with a few years of 6's or 8's (when I was in college). Over the last few years I have steadily gone up and up (after 35 years old). I was a tight 14 (probably a 16) when I started this diet. I've lost 26 pounds and I'm fitting a 12 easily and moving into a 10. So I'm thinking should I keep going??? Is 140 realistic? I don't know. I'm still moving forward and will see where I go.
    2) I was hoping to reach my goal by Thanksgiving, but that is unrealistic. So I don't know. I've read some posts on here and apparently as you get closer to your goal it is harder to lose (just because you are getting so thin). That makes me wonder when will I be done?
    3) I don't have mini goals. Maybe I should think more about this.
    4) My mom is my biggest supporter. My husband has started more now that he sees how serious I am and that my clothes are getting baggy.
    Have a great weekend everyone!!!
  • Wow these are some great posts.
Seems like lots of people have goals where they just want to feel good. I like the decade for mini goals, that is a good idea. Sometimes people get so worked up and use the "only" word instead of seeing the big picture. But look at all those silly dancing figures that represent each 10lbs lost at the bottom of peoples posts (how do you do that btw), It is amazing.

all you have to do is use the smiley's ....if you click the blue where it says more there are a lot more there. I have my for every 5lbs. As far as the "O" word, that is why every time I see someone use it I say its NOT ALLOWED to go in front of lbs loss. ANY loss is a good loss and NEVER is it ONLY a loss!!
