Proti-Diet is the brand. I ordered some alternatives from Nashua Nutrition after researching ingredients. The alternatives thread has a ton of info on alternative products. Here is what I go and my opinion:

HealthSmart Protein Chips - BBQ. These are good, the portion is small and they are restricted. Very good alternative if you want chips
Syntrax Matrix Cookies & Cream shake - Good, would order again

Proti-Thin Crispy treats. These taste a lot like rice krispy treats but are very high in carbs, super restricted I guess

Proti-Diet Oatmeal Maple brown sugar. Not bad for a mix, but IP oatmeal is better. I like saving $2 a packet so I will use these.

Weight Loss Systems Pudding Chocolate with Marshmallows. Good flavor, it didn't get thick like IP, and I measured the water.

I have also tried the EAS Advant-Edge chocolate and vanilla shakes. The vanilla is better than IP, I never tried chocolate IP so can't compare, but it tastes like slim fast to me.
  • I switched to alternatives at six weeks. I order from Nashua, with their lifetime membership you get an additional 10% off anything you order, I am In Ontario and I generally order one month at a time. I just started back on the IP protocol last week, tomorrow is my one week WI, and I've already lost 8.2 lbs. There is some criteria for using substitutes. They should not be more than about 200 calories, no more than 30% of calories from fat. 8 net carbs and under are non-restricted, 9-15 net carbs are restricted, and they should have at least 15g of protein. That said, I do not usually order Proti-Diet, they don't taste as good to me.

My husband uses the PD bacon and cheese omelet and the chili, and we both use the chicken flavour soup.

Some of my favorite alternatives that meet the protocol are:

WLS Berry yogurt smoothie & Strawberry yogurt smoothie
Healthsmart blueberry pancakes, maple brown sugar oatmeal, apple and cinnamon oatmeal, peanut butter bars(R), chocolate pudding, instant chocolate drink (prepared either cold or hot), amaretto cappuccino, cheesecake, and lemon chiffon pudding.
Proti-thin chili and lime soy snacks, sour cream and onion soy snacks, Broc n'cheese soup, and Dark chocolate wafers(R)
For bars I love the 50g Pure Protein Chocolate Peanut butter(R), Chocolate deluxe(R), and Chewy Chocolate chip(R), these can be purchased at Wal-Mart and Costco. Posted from 3fatchicks.com App for Android
  • I like their Maple Brown Sugar oatmeal better than IP's. Pretty tasty!

Maple brown sugar oatmeal (i order the large tub and use for zucchini muffins)

Old fashioned strawberry and peanuts bar

    Peanut surprise bar

Peanut butter and smooth caramel crisp bar

I'm so happy I switched to these IP lower cost alternatives through Nashua Nutrition - much tastier and costs so much less!!
  • Proti-Diet
    Hi, all!

I really enjoy most of what I have ordered from Nashua.

    Proti-Diet Chicken noodle soup-Yum!
PD Banana Bread bar- Yummmmm! My fav
PD Honey Nut and choc soy cereals are both good- for some reason, the honey nut is a smaller serving size
PD Choc and van shakes- yum
PD Crispy Caramel bars- not my fav, but hubby likes them
PD Minestrone- not my fav, but tolerable
Proti-Thin Sour cream and onion soy snacks- YUMMMM
PD Pancake- it is okay, cannot compare to IP cuz I have not had the ip version
  • So glad I found this thread! My hubby is doing IP with the clinic but, as you all well know the cost is too great for two people to do it..at least for us!

I have been doing an alternative but having used Whey protein shakes for my breakfasts and lunches. Dinner is with hubby as per IP protocol. But...as much as I like chocolate, these shakes after 5 weeks are getting boring! So your recommendations have been a lifesaver

Hubby has had great success in 5 weeks with 37lbs lost. Me with 28lbs lost! I want to keep up the success so having options is very important.

    Thanks again all!
  • Hi guys,
For those in Canada where do you get the alternatives from? Proteinwell.ca isn't a website anymore
  • I met with Debbie at Nourish Studios in Simcoe, Ontario recently. She's a wonderful lady and will ship products to you. The website is http://www.nourishstudios.com/ She doesn't have products listed on her webpage, but if you contact her, she'll give you a list of what she carries.
  • Availability of Alternatives in Canada
I reached out to the people at Pro-Amino in Quebec, who are the makers of , as far as I can tell, a number of the alternative IP product. I asked where I could purchase their products in Canada - especially on-line. They replied that their products are only available through clinics in Canada. As far as I can gather , given all the brands that are made in Quebec, this company makes a number of the brands for the programmes: IP, Proti-well, Proti-Life etc. They package for those brands, and then it is up to the brand owners how they sell. In Canada that appears to be almost exclusively through clinics.
