What's for Dinner??

Okay everyone, the last what's for dinner thread has been buried in all the activity on the boards. I for one love hearing what others have for dinner because it gives me ideas when I get bored.

Tonight I'm having Big Mac in a Bowl and I have some chicken marinating in the fridge for Chicken Shawarma with peppers, zucchini & onion tomorrow night!

What are you having?

wuv2bloved 09-20-2011 05:58 PM

HEY, I am having Big Mac n a bowl as well!!....my son loves it, its quick and easy!

NavyMommy 09-20-2011 05:59 PM

I'm trying Big Mac in a Bowl for the first time tonight :) Tomorrow night will be leftovers and then back to white fish. I have discovered McCormick spice blends and I love them. Use them on everything to give it a different flavor. Some have sugar though, so you have to read the labels.

I think I read every label that goes into my shopping cart. My "creole" seasoning that i used to use all the time had sugar so I had to find a different one with no sugars. When I saw it had sugars I was thinking to myself why on earth would you put sugar in with peppers and such, no wonder it taste so good. My son says I take too long when we go shopping now....lol

DThieme 09-20-2011 06:09 PM

great minds think alike!

Big Mac in a bowl here! got all the ingredients today. making with 3/4 ground chicken and 1/4 ground lean beef. so excited!

That's how I am, it's ridiculous. My FAVORITE pickles have HFCS in them. I'm sloooooooooowly finishing the jar (no more than 1 a day and they're mini pickles) because I hate wasting food, but really? (BTW I got the Vlassic bread and butter w/Splenda ones you've mentioned, YUM!)

And the spice was one I have used FOREVER, it's a lemon pepper and herb one, I was devastated when I saw the last ingredient is sugar. Makes no sense, and you would think they would be required to carry a nutrition label on them since they are no longer just dried herbs. Grrrrrrrrrr.

stolaf 09-20-2011 07:28 PM

I had ground turkey meatloaf and mashed rutabags....yum!

Dancer456 09-20-2011 11:11 PM

Salmon and spinach MMmmm :D

murleya1 09-20-2011 11:35 PM

Tilapia with Garilc Broccoli.

workerbee57 09-20-2011 11:42 PM

I am new to this thread and would love you know what is Big Mac in a bowl is? I am on maintenence Phase 4 of the Ideal Protein Diet. I am always looking for new and different recipes.

Paint Lady 09-21-2011 07:29 AM

Last night I had pan-seared talapia and okra. I smothered the okra down in about 1 tsp olive oil, adding bits of water when it looked like it was going to stick. I love okra, so made enough to take for lunch today. I have no clue what I'm cooking tonight.

High fructose corn syrup! Some dill pickles also have sugar in them. It may not be reflected in the nutrition info but it will be in the ingredients. Just keep an eye out for those two things.

I cook my whole chicken in the crockpot, put it in early in the morning or when I get up and let it cook all day....meat comes right off the bone, no pulling needed it just falls off :)

That's a great idea. I have to pull out my crockpot, it's around somewhere. Gonna make a roast on the weekend.

I love endive, core and all, raw. It's a great finger food when you want something with crunch and it's equally good chopped, as a salad, with a light cider vinegar dressing, ground salt and pepper. Or if you're roasting a pan of vegetables, cut an endive in half, spray it with olive oil, and roast; or just spray the surface and roast. Again, go light on the oil because endive tends to absorb oil easily.

(N.b., my endive is actually the real thing in that it comes from Belgium. A big change from eating it in Hawai'i after it travelled 2,500 miles from CA.)

alexandallismom 11-09-2011 07:26 PM

Tonight we had BBQ steak, mashed cauliflower (first time I made this, yummy) and ceasar salad, well just the lettuce and dressing.

auntdee 11-09-2011 09:04 PM

Chili - ground beef 97%, peppers, zucc, and WF katcup and spices - very good

tykesplace 11-09-2011 10:22 PM

FinnSteve's chili verde made with pork loin rather than chicken. Cooked all day in the crock pot.

shelly ann 11-09-2011 11:34 PM

Had a large chop chop salad and chili made with veggie burger and lots of hot pepper.

Gaia 11-10-2011 07:07 AM

White fish (Basa) topped with lime juice, grated lime rind and chopped cilantro. It's delicious!
