Ahhhhhhhhh I'm running out of my essential packets and will be left with restricted and things I didn't like. HELP!!

Hi! I'm also from NJ and boy, I can't believe what Irene has done to our state! I'm in Morris County.

Ok, so to help you get through if you can't get to the clinic you might want to think about mixing in some alternate products. In a pinch I use the EAS Carb Control RTD vanilla or chocolate. I actually use them every morning for my coffee and sometimes if I'm stuck and have nothing else. I have found them at Walmart, Target, Stop and Shop....hope this can help you get through a day or so until you can get in your clinic.

You don't have to go off plan to try and shake things up. But I know what you mean, I would love to know if I did a cheat day if I would have a big drop, but I don't want to risk it, so I just stay OP.

So, now that I'm home today I think I'll take a walk and enjoy my time.

Have a super day everyone!

Glad to know you are ok. Which state are you in?

Good Morning,
First I wanna thank everyone who helped me out yesterday with your suggestions on my LBP(low blood pressure):( problem I was having for a few days.I did exactly what you suggested I took 1/4 teaspoon of my Himalayan Salt in the palm of my hand and chased it down with tons of water, all I can say is that it saved my life and I had one of the best days since starting IP energy to spare :) :)

:) It is truly amazing to have the salt impact you so quickly. It is like that though. My sister is very effected when her sodium is off. She needs to start every day with the salt or she ends up fatigued and weak by afternoon. It is similar for me. I especially need the salt with this much water. I think the excess water has made my LBP much more apparent.

If it is the salt, if you drink more water it will come off.

Something about losing 30 sounds much better than losing 20 to me for some reason. And I'm sure 40 will feel even better and so on. So, I'm just a little excited this morning. Crossing my fingers it takes a few friends by official weigh in Thursday!

Have a great Monday!

WOO HOOO!!!! I am so happy for you. Congratulations and I too liked the idea of being at a 30 mark more than a 20. :)

And thank you, because your post made me realize that with yesterday's weigh-in, I am now more than halfway to MY goal, too! I am now 56 pounds into a planned 100 pound weight loss for me. ...

....

NSV - I DO NOT have to shop in the "Women's" plus size section anymore! WHOOOHOOOOOOO!!! Thank you, IP! :D

How about anyone else? Getting closer to goal?

Congratulations on the great NSVs and on realizing a half way point. :) You will be at goal in no time.

Another attempt at keeping up with daily chat - hoping to be able to!

Good morning and welcome to another week! Week 16 for me so officially 4 months on IP. Been a little bit stuck lately. With reason - lets just say that. I had a 2 day (planned) cheat. Not this past weekend but the one before. I was completely OP with food but cheated with alcohol. We saw concerts two different nights and I can say it was amazing and so much fun/totally worth it but gosh I am still paying for it. ...

....
Gosh that pancake is good. I'm finding its starting to become like the bars - almost too good and leaving me wanting more.
I started having the Target brand, Archer Farms, spring water. They are just so delicious and fend off cravings that I've been having lately. (they are sucralose, not aspartame)
...
NSV that I realized happened last week. My waistline is smaller than my husband's since…NEVER. I have never been a smaller size jean/pant than him. That is kind of neat.
....

Nice to have you on the daily thread! It has been crazy on here today. :) Congratulations for sticking it out 4 months. It is pretty amazing how your taste buds change in that amount of time. I am sure you are noticing it a little.

WOOO HOOO for the smaller waistline! I bet that is truly fun.

I think I mentioned a few weeks ago about getting my body fat tested at the gym and I finally got it done. They test with the calipers, so it is fairly accurate. Not as good as a dunk tank, but much more accurate than a scale. Last time I was tested I was 167# and 35.7% BF. This time, I was 145# and 29.4% BF. So I lost 6.3% body fat and I am FINALLY under 30%! I would like to get around 22% because that would be right in the middle of "healthy". I am going to go back when I hit 130#. I am really happy with the results and with IP. Such a tremendous drop in such a short time!

So, in continuing the conversation from the weekend thread regarding Acidophilus. I have taken my 2nd dose and have had my 2nd "movement". Thank goodness because the Penicillin was really binding things up.

...

Congratulations on the weight change and body fat loss! That is really great for such a short time.

Which type of probiotic acidophilus are you taking. We just had this conversation last week (pxlkitty, itsabouttime, and I). PxlKitty and I both recommended the UDOs probiotic line for Itsabouttime.

She thinks that for some reason, my body just isn't eliminating anything. I told her that in the past few years, any diet i tried, i just couldn't lose any weight so here we go again. As much as i don't want to give up....i'm starting to wonder what's the point...

YOU are doing GREAT! I wouldn't worry. You are moving down and you had 2 very shocking weeks in a row. It might just be your body catching up. As for weigh in and measurements, my coach did them every week. I think you should insist on her doing yours anyway. I would lose major inches even when I lost nothing in weight.

I am not a big vegetable person, so when I got my Phase 1 sheet I memorized the few I would eat and then looked at the restricted vegetables and saw that the 2 a week would be easy because there were only a few I would eat there too.
..

You were losing because you have the calories to burn and you added a healthy lower carb fat. I would expect you will lose even better without it!!

You can use atkins products and eas if you can get them at walmart. Just watch to keep the carbs and fat low like ours are.

You can go to phase 2 to stretch your unrestricted packets a few days more. That way it will only be 2 packets and 2 meals a day.

You can stretch it even more by doing a phase2 concept with egg whites (about the equivalent of 4 large eggs) for breakfast, have a phase 2 lunch and dinner and have 1 packet. You can mix it up. As long as you work it out something like that you will stay close enough on track to make it to the clinic and shift back again.

Options for real food are: egg whites, lean white fish, tuna, chicken breast. Go for a quality protein low in fat.

Just wondering if anyone knows if Atkins shake is equal to Ip shake?:)

No, the atkins shake is not equal to the IP shake. It has more fillers in it. BUT, nutritionally it breaks down to a similar fat, protein, carb level so people can do very well using them as substitutes.

My coach is a naturopathic doctor, so her recommendations that I used were stimulant laxative free: increase spinach at night, castor oil pack 3-4 times a week (never had time to do that more than twice in 5 months), Miralax, tryphala capsules, and my favorite solution...a colonic. I went to a naturopathic college for a more reasonable rate and felt so much better (when all else failed).

What are castor oil packs and how are they done?

Looks like its sweetened with Splenda.
My birthday is coming up soon and I'm considering gifts to ask for ;)

Thanks!

The reason we can't have soda is because of the phosphoric acid and the impact to our supplement benefits and change in our body acidity levels (the diet tries to keep a specific acidity level if you follow it as written).

I would say, if you are tempted to get this, carefully read the labels of the mix you are interested in. The carbonation is not an issue. Just watch as you read the labels and pick ones that do not have phosphoric acid.

I looked at your stats and you have great weight loss, I am not sure why you think you need to have it shaken up... when you are at the same weight for month then I would start experimenting... phase 2 for a week bootcamp for a week, etc you don't have to CHEAT to make a change.

Thanks!

We had a discussion about this quite a few months back, IP does say no soda, but they especially say no Dark sodas and in the Dr's book it tells you why. Would be something I would try when I am in maintenance.

Hey everyone you all were busy while I was out. I went for a walk with the dogs and picked chokecherries and tomorrow I am making chokecherry syrup with splenda... will be my second batch this year as they are huge this year.

So went to my wi, I don't think my new coach really cares one way or another, she thought I did bootcamp last week, I had to remind her that she put me in Phase 2 so then she said oh yeah... so we will continue with you in phase 2... nice thing I have lost 3 lbs this week so I am happy and I am so close to 150s it makes me very excited, and if we decide to leave me in Phase 2 I am okay for that as it was way easier than I thought it would be. Oh and she didn't even ask how the cleansing is going as she made me do that as well... but I must say not really enjoying the cleanse and it is a month cleanse.... great

And now because I wi on Mondays and there is a holiday I will no not wi for 2 weeks. so I am for sure on phase 2 for 3 weeks...

Good luck everyone, those of you that think you are slowing down, give it time I have had weird weeks and then real good weeks, so take it easy and don't stress as that doesn't help either.

Glad you all made it through Irene.

Thanks for the help stolaf. I'll try to get a hold of these tomorrow. I hope you didn't have too much damage up in Morris county. I'm in Somerset county and oh boy what a mess. I work for a doctors office that did not have power today, will not tomorrow, and possibly until Sunday!!!! I can't wait until things get somewhat back to normal. I am thankful though that not one I know of was hurt. Oh, and even with no power I stayed OP!

Feeling nervous about this week

Hey all...late to the party but just wanted to say, I'm really hoping for big results this week but not feeling really confident about it since I've changed things up a bit.

Wk1- 5
Wk2- 6
Wk3-1
Wk4-1
Wk5-3

Week 3 and 4...don't know what happened...coach and dr. think it was the broccoli and cauliflower and said to stay away.
I did and wk4 u see I did lose BUT I had spinach dip and forgot to eat salad wed-fri...so what happened??

This week... I wanted something to tempt my taste buds so I tried the WF peanut spread and grape fruit spread on these appetite control bran things....I needed something...not the taste I was looking for but I don't feel like I'm dieting by having it.

I don't know...guess I'm rambling and I know only you guys will get some of it at least!

Ok...have a good night...just me babbling :-)

Now that I think about it, you have been saying that about the "good shock = good drop" phenomenon. I was fortunate that the off plan meal was light; the portion sizes were small (actually normal for a decent maintenance diet plan) and the foods were reasonable with the exception of the chocolate cake, which I resisted. I was afraid if I started with the cake I would have eaten everyone at the table's cake and then scrounged from the nearby tables - I do love me some chocolate cake - someday I'll have another piece of cake - just not today!

Stay Strong!

hmm what do you mean by appetite control bran? crackers? bread? things we aren't suppose to eat? also spinach dip??? did you make it? if not what were the ingredients? Do you normally go away from IP rules? has your diet choices been approved up by your coach? you are really early into your weight loss, you have lost 13 lbs in the first month that is really good. Was any of your weeks during tom? that affects me all the time. I think if you get back on track then you should do great. I don't eat salad every day, but it really does help. If you are doing alternatives I would follow IP phase sheet as much as possible...

okay had to edit as I see you are vegetarian, and I am not familiar with the vegetarian protocol, but I would try to follow that as much as possilbe.

Stay strong and keep working it.:^:

You are really early into this losing process so, without more information about what you ate each day of the 2 weeks you lost so little it would be hard to pin point.

On the other hand, something I can't say enough, weeks 2, 3, 4, and 5 are ALWAYS reported as off weeks by people. Some do poorly on just one week others do poorly on a week or two. Your body is making some significant adjustments and many people report that they feel strange or have slow downs on these week. Other weeks that are common to have "something is wrong" questions are weeks 7, 9, 11, 12 and week 16. After that things seem more stable or people seem more familiar with what is going on.

Pretty much, every week or series of weeks can be a problem for someone. Not everyone has the same issues but, at some point, everyone has a slow period and the longer you are on the more likely it happens.

I would say you are doing fine.

I didn't know it was phosphoric acid that was particularly the issue. Thats good to know. I thought it was the sugar.
I suppose I could use it to make Italian sodas with the sugar free syrups, or even just flavor it with lemon juice. Its a system that would last me far past the diet, so I'm considering it.
Of course my mom is telling me it's fine and it shouldn't harm my diet. But then again, she's the one that ALWAYS tells me to cheat with just a little bit of rice with dinner :(

The sugar is part of it be we aren't even allowed diet soda. The reason for that is the phosphoric acid.

Try using the flavorings made with sucralose or stevia (acesulfame k is fine too) and you should be fine. It will me not choose anything cola, dark brown soda, and maybe not even the cream soda (have to double check that) the fruity flavors appeared to be fine.
