Newbies thread continued aka Wayward's group.
Just because we are getting close to 500 posts again, so before they shut the old thread down on us, I moved it.
Have a great day everyone. |
Thanks Wayward! Glad to you know your survived the homemade cookies, that would really get me! Also great job on the exercise, that is quite some distance!
|
Thanks Coliep, and the body glide is still doing it's job great, I have used it biking a couple of times and the last 10 miles we walked without incident.
I wish I would have known about it like 10 years ago, I always pay the price after golf lol. Hope everyone is doing well since it's so quiet in here today. |
I know, right?! I had some unfortunate incidents after my long runs while training for the half marathon and was so grateful when I discovered teh body glide!!
It has been quiet and I suspect we have lost some. I am feeling a bit lost, but still here, stil trying to find a working solution with alternatives and a little more flexibility that mirrors most principles of IP. Being that the scale is up, thinking my approach is not working so much. Have you heard of / looked into Primal Blueprint? |
Amen for body glide!
I had a hormonal stall last week, hoping to see some improvement this week... went back to the gym today, broken toe and all, because I couldn't stand being sedentary one more minute... I looked into Primal Blueprint a few months ago... seemed like a lot of meat to me, but I don't know how different it is from this (sans little silver packets)... Thanks for starting up this new thread... and hope you had a great weekend! |
Good morning everyone.. i jumped on my scale..and it didnt move..im not disheartened by it because i know i stayed on plan yesterday and the day before..its day 4 and plus the scale already jumped down 3 pounds this week in 4 days so im not worried if i dont lose another pound this week..though i would like to.
So its officially day 4 and i did in fact survive the past few days..it was horrible!!! i wanted to eat everything in sight! But i didnt.. i survived..so...yay!!! Oh and if its not too blunt to say so...i went online last night and found me some motivation...I went and bought some naughty sleepwear to suprise my hunny on our anniversary weekend...he has never seen me in anything like that before..nothing pretty and sexy..so i figure if i got it in one size smaller it would give me the motivation to keep losing weight..cause 1 size should be 12 pounds..and i should be able to do that in the next 40 pounds..so yah..there is my motivation for the month to stay on plan.. Glad to hear your doing beter Wayward...thanks for starting up are new thread again.. Hey Coliep..Why not try a atkins style..you can still have sweets..and penut butter...but just watch the calorie count ...so you could do nut butters and eggs and meats and bacon(in moderation) and try like whip cream on top of sugar free jello or even your pudding from IP? Dont give up...you can do this! I believe in you! Well the good news is.. i think im gettin back into ketosis again..i dont feel so hungry..yesterday i had to remind myself to eat ...ive really been bootcampin this week..i dont actually like the bars all that much..funny hey? |
You know, I am just not an atkins fan. I don't eat a high fat diet, I am not a big meat eater, don't really like cream etc. I like the IP idea, but it is just costly and I have concern for me over the low calories considering how active I want to be. So, I figured I can tweak it. In theory, it should work but I have hit a roadblock of some sort. I am also suffering with some bloating and abdominal discomfort the last few days. And water retention. Not quite sure why or what is going on. I am thinking of going Primal, which is similar to IP in the low carb kind of way, but that requiers too much learning/research for now so I am going to do my best to do IP but with alternatives and some flexibility. I mean, I may not lose 4 lbs per week if I have a vodka and diet soda on a Sunday night but it shouldn't kick me out of ketosis either. Those are the kinds of compromises I can live with - reasonable calorie, high protein, low carb, healthy fats, water, exercise. I am just still stumped about the weight gain . . .
|
Thanks for starting the new thread Wayward. Seems so far everyone has survived the weekend without too many slips.
I had WI# 3 this morning. I'm excited to see a new number on the scale which means my clothes won't be as tight at the end of August when I'm back to work (aka school) as they were at the end of June. I lost another 2.3 and am so pleased to keep going in the right direction. I am used to gaining on all the conventional diets such as WW. Have a great rest of Monday all. Pat |
Great job =)
|
I was wondering what happened to the other thread.....I was lost for a minute glad I found it and glad to see everyone is doing great!
|
I'm brand new around here so I thought I would introduce myself. While I'm brand new to IP, I've been working on losing weight for close to two years. I had been losing steadily until 3-4 months ago when I hit a plateau that I have not been unable to get past.
Tomorrow is my first IP WI and I am looking forward to seeing some progress. I've been lurking around here for a couple of days and I look forward to learning from all the great people here. I'm still reading through the newbie FAQs so I'll try to keep redundant questions to a minimum. I do have one question :). As a guy on a site clearly directed primarily to women, is there anything a I should be aware of beyond the obvious, normal rules of decent conduct? - John |

Welcome.. your a sweetheart for asking if there are other unknown women conduct rules..all i can say is: as a women.. i have my beefs about guys occasionally..but then again..i have beefs about women too..haha..point is: we try really hard not to bash are DH or are DW -dear husband or dear wife or dear anybody..but occasionally it happens..BUT we do support each other..and im sure if you step out of line..well Wayward may just kick your butt...(kidding) :p Nah its all good..your good..just keep truckin away at your weight loss.. Oh..wait..there is 1 rule.. You MUST say hi every day to everyone! Cuz were one happy big weight loss family..:dizzy: |
Well...another day down! and another one begun! today is day 5 woot...100% OP... and im totally into ketosis now..cause ive lost my appetite like none other..and it sucks in a way cause i hate eating when im not feeling hungry..but whats a girl to do??? eat..lol..I bought this cool super duper microwave egg poacher so i dont have to pull out the frying pan at 11:30pm to make my dinner..so now i do it in the micro for like less than a minute and i dont end up with an egg explosion inside! yay!
Im hoping hoping hoping to jump on that scale and have moved down this stupid pound ive been waiting to lose to get to 20 pounds lost.. i hope i do it this time.. Okay enough chatter..time for bed.. |
Just getting started!
Hi! I'm Carrie aka ianmeghanmom (two kids Ian and Meghan) and I found IP because a couple of physical therapists who have been working on neck and shoulder pain have been through IP and had wonderful things to say about it. The D.O. who is the coach for it was going to be the doctor to do my hystorectomy a few years ago before she injuried her own back/neck and could no longer do surgeries. Full circle!
I'm actually starting Phase I at breakfast today, went to the grocery yesterday to buy veggies and proteins for lunch/dinner, and ended up ordering online some of the WF products because I could not find them near me (I live near Austin TX) and I didn't feel like driving all over town. The recipe suggestions have been very helpful. I don't work fulltime anymore, but I do stay very busy outside the house, and substitute teach, so I guess I'll always have to be very very organized. Having exactly enough food for 2 weeks (but the same packets for those 2 weeks) is killing me. I have a checkup with her on Thurs and I'm going to inquire if I can go on and get another week just so I can have some more variety to make the mixes that have been discussed. Eventually I'll figure out how to make my post all exciting with smileys, and ticker tapes (I don't think I can do that till later) but directions to anything that will make my first week appetizing is helpful. I am reviewing all the FAQs, etc. Thanks for everything! Carrie |
Good Morning!
I'm back to week 1 again after taking 2 weeks to let my weight loss settle. I generally rebound quickly and was pleasantly surprise that I'm only up 1 pound. I started again yesterday to tackle the next 5 pounds and hopefully won't have major upheavals to derail me again. I want to hit my healthy BMI and keep going from there. I never thought I'd be this close. Have a great OP day everyone! |
Welcome Carrie and John and welcome back Calee :)
John no worries about it being a women's forum, they don't seem to mind here. We have a pretty good group of supporters, and there are 2 of us that started at almost the same weight as you so you should fit right in. Went walking again last night and I expect my new computer for my bicycle to be here today, so I think I am going to start keeping track of all the miles of exercise I am doing. I need another ticker I guess lol. Hope everyone is doing well, my clinic finally got their order in yesterday so I ran down and bought 6 boxes of cappuccino lol. Coach wasn't there, which was good because she said she wasn't going to let people buy a bunch of one thing anymore, but the owner's wife said you can get as much as you want  Stay positive everyone!!! |
tomorrow morning I have my WI! Today was a NSV......I got into a size smaller jeans and now at the end of the day they feel loose! How awesome is that!!!!!
:carrot: I went for a mini bike ride last nite:) |
Hiya everyone kind of a late post but the site was giving me fits today and wouldn't let me on but I think it was the site totally not just me. Looks like everyone had a great day. Tomorrow is my WI and I talked to my cousin who I got to start last week and he is down 6lbs!!! he is super excited so tomorrow is his official WI I will let y'all know what we both do!
|
Goood early morning..its day..its day 5..right..my days are meshing together.. I too had a fit..cause something was up with this website all day..i couldnt access it..it kept saying that there was a problem with the site and it was un-available..which made me mad and at the same time made me realize just how much support i rely on from this site.. i was like "noooooo! im going to go banannas if i cant talk to someone who understands about my not losing a pound!"
Yes, this indeed was my rant...i didnt lose a pound.. i jumped on that friggen scale and i cant seem to get my body to lose that 20th pound..and im like "if i cant get it to lose the 20th pound, how the heck do i get it to lose the 30th pound..." I dont think i did anything to make it happen that way cause im doing it right..I wanted to cheat tonight..but i didnt..i didnt give in.. i convinced myself it wasnt cool to have to start all over again and try and get back into ketosis after being in it just now.. Yes! Ladies and gentleman i have in fact hit ketosis..I forgot to eat my late night snack...the hunger signal never kicked in..Guess im going to have to watch the clock a little more frequently...but its good...cause im going to offically graduated as of tommorow..from 4 packets..down to 3...yay!!! Anywho.. hope everyone has a great day.. |
Unfortunately, Port, I don't think it works that way. Just because you've made it 4 whole days OP doesn't necessarily = automatic weight loss. The initial whoosh of weight loss won't keep occurring because now its down to the nitty gritty of hard work and diligence vs. the disappearance of water weight. At least this is what I tell myself.
I have been in ketosis, even with my cheats (go figure). I have kept my calories at an eat to lose of 1 - 2 pounds per week. I have been taking my supplements, drinking my water, eating my veggies, getting exercise. Yet, I am up 3 pounds. The 3 pounds have been here for days and I don't know that they are going anywhere. If I don't miraculously drop 4 pounds by tomorrow (my official WI day) then I will have to consider it a gain. While this is discouraging on SO many levels, I have to look at it this way: I have to diet / restrict calories no matter what because I still have 8 - 10 pounds to lose. My lack of weight loss is probably not related to the IP way of dieting, but something else going on with my body and I could've very likely hit this plateau no matter what I was doing. I know that I am not content at this weight, and I know I like the idea of burning my own fat stores for fuel so I am doing my best to keep going in the face of discouraging results. And my other method?? Beg the whoosh fairy to come soon =) |
Very rough week as far as food was concerned. Seemed to be hungry all the time and ate lots of junk which of course did not satisfy. Emotional time for me also. Back on plan but realize that the next 3 days are starting over! Will still do weigh-in on Thursday to assess the damage and go from there. It is not that I do not know better just chose not to do right. No excuse just wasted money and time.
|
Justamom - Don't worry, we've all been there. It is starting over, but that deserves a pat on the back, not admonishment. Perhaps, if you opt to cheat again, you can force yourself to cheat with healthy foods? I mean, I know we are not supposed to cheat but IF it were to happen, you could be training yourself in the process so that junk food never becomes a go-to food group again even if life derails your intended progress! Just a thought . .

well today was my official WI and very happy to say I have lost 5.8 pounds!!! I am very excited and motivated to continue. so far so good, really getting to love thoses veggies!!!

I have weigh in this week too, and I have a feeling it's going to be another minimum loss, as long as I lose a bunch of inches I guess I will have to take it, but I really don't know, we will see. Screw the FAQ's just ask if you have questions, trying to read through the FAQ's is like trying to read stereo instructions from the early 80's :) Everyone stay positive today... Coliep, keep your chin up, it will all work itself out. Heather, don't get frustrated, I have only lost 1 pound at the last weigh in and who knows this week and that is with 5+ weeks of OP and working out every other night at the least. So right there with you. |
Thanks Wayward,
I think alot has to do with attitude, you can't let yourself get down because you only lost 1 pound...you have to say to yourself:Wow I lost another pound, another pound that I will never see again. wether it's one or 4 or 6 pounds, it's still fat leaving your body :) and we should celebrate that. there will be hard days ,there will cheat days but no matter what we have to stick to it if we really want it, it's a new way of eating. I personally know I will have to watch what I eat EVERY SINGLE DAY for the rest of my life and I am ok with that. |
Lauren, I didn't mean it in a bad way,(sorry if you thought that or if I sounded that way) ask all the questions you want girl, I know I(we) don't mind answering them because some of us don't know where to find the FAQ's anyways. Its just easier to ask then to search anyways.
This morning was WI#17 for me another 1.6lbs and 2.5 inches SOOOOO my total is 65lbs gone along with 60inches. My cousin had his first WI he is done 9.6lbs and 18inches!!!.....he is all excited and ready for the next week! He has sooooo much energy now its not even funny. He used to sleep until his alarm then snooze it 3-4 times and he said now he is up BEFORE his alarm ready to take on the world!! I am SOOOOO happy he started the program! |

Hip Hip Hooray for the cousin's weigh-in and hip hip hooray for minus 65!!!!!!There should be a sign there in Louisiana to watch out for you two!!!

Actually I am pretty slammed today.
I am on my 7th computer so far this morning, I even made myself a cup of instant coffee which I haven't done in awhile. Dreading going to my weigh in today, better be more weight loss then last week lol. I actually cooked fish last night......for me that's a huge deal, my wife has never seen me eat fish. And I burned it lol........dammit But at least I tried right... it wasn't too bad, and no I cannot remember what I had. I made some chicken too, too bad I burned that along with the fish. I was waiting until Hardcore Pawn was over before I got the food off the grill... damn t.v. addict lol. But I did find it was better for me to eat last night before I worked out. Which normally I have been eating way after and I found myself not near as tired and sore during it since I actually had some fresh protein in me. I normally don't get home after working out until after 10:00 and then have to make dinner, so I end up going like 11 hours without eating... I will try forcing dinner down before a couple of more time to be sure. But I think overall it's the smarter plan. Plus then I don't have to wait and eat my snack so late. I hope all you lurkers are having a good day :) |
Oh and Wuv.... sorry I didn't say anything before.... CONGRATS on continuing a great job!!
|
Wayward - what about switching your lunch and dinner, in light of your schedule? Eat your dinner at lunchtime -- it is a much bigger/bulkier meal and your body can digest and process to keep you going. Then have a shake before your workout. Perhaps the long stint between meals and the large meal before bed are impeding your "pounds"? The body doesn't like to go 11 hours, my IP info advised eating every 3-4 I believe . . . just a thought!
|
Hence the reason I am going to try and start making sure I eat before I go.
The wife said she preferred it that way last night too. Plus I only get 30 mins for lunch, and sometimes I end up working through lunch so that doesn't really work. Plus I enjoy eating and cooking with my wife and I wouldn't want to lose that  |
Hi-I'm new to this thread and pretty new to the forum! My name is Michelle aka chellebee72.
About 8 yrs ago I lost 45lbs with the help of Herbalife and finished my weight loss journey with just using small portion sizes and bicycling (& other excercising). I of course I maintained until I got pg with my second son ;) I am officiall down 30.6lbs and 31+inches since starting 9 weeks ago! I want to start riding bike again which is my favorite exercise. I will have to slowly work up to doing it again but I will get there. I don't get to visit here often so it will take me a while to get to know everybody. Be patient with me!!! ;) |
Okay..im officially frustrated... I dont get it!!!!! How the heck am i up like a pound..its bad enough not losing that 20th pound and now the scale goes up???? Im not even cheating or doing anything wrong.. i dont understand!!!!!!
I feel so discouraged..like.why do i bother..how am i supposed to lose was 10 pounds?? i thought this was supposed to help you lose weight fast??? I feel like im going to diet :( It makes me want to quit!!!!!!!!! |
