Default egg whites

ok so i asked this question in the FAQ'S sticky but got no answer, so i thought i would ask here.

I saw somewhere that the egg whites were now free on the ip diet even on phase one. Is this true cuz it would change alot for me. Thank you.

Every coach is different, my coach said they are free.

according to my coaches, who contacted IP directly to figure this out, egg whiles are not "free". my coaches and i were really hoping that they would be (with me being a vegetarian, my coach thought it would help to have extra protein), but according to IP territory rep, the answer was NO. it is always best to have things checked out by your coach before you modify anything that has been suggested on this forum. every coach allows different things, so some people on this plan are allowed to have egg whites as a "free" food per their coaches, but this is not a recognized "free" food by Ideal Protein.

hope that helps! and sorry for the bad news...

My coach says yes. So clearly there is a lot of discrepancy from coach to coach. I usually have (2) extra egg whites a day when I make pudding cakes. I do not believe it has inhibited my weight loss since I have lost every week.

I also believe that some people add 1 or 2 to the omelette to make it more palatable. I don't know if you are working with a coach or not, but I would check. My feeling is, as long as you don't go over board, 1-3 per day is not going to hinder you.

It is kind of like the Walden Farms products, it says it is 0/0/0 but in reality, it's got trace calories and carbs, and it will eventually add up. But if you are smart about it and use it moderately, it should not impact your weight loss.

1 Lg Egg White has the following nutritional info:

17 Calories
3.6 g protein
0.2 g Carbs
0.0 g fat

Will it hurt to have a couple here and there...not at all. That is why coaches have allowed egg whites because they are a lean protein that helps people stay on program.

I had scrambles egg whites Sunday morning because I knew the shake wouldn't cut it. I wouldn't do it all the time but I barely ate anything Saturday and needed something and that was the least harmful thing I could come up with.

Rooster- I work out 6x week (Crossfit) and I always have 4 packets a day plus the 2 egg whites. Sometimes I even have 5 packets if it is a particularly tough workout. I would keep up with the 4 packets on workout days and add the egg whites, I wouldn't substitute them b/c they are not nutritionally equivalent. Also, if you read Dr. Tran's book, he says that we don't digest all of the protein from animal sources, which is why we eat the packets. This could just be his plan to make $$$, but for now I am going with it

One of my coaches said egg whites were fine..I limit them to 3 tblspoons or 25 calories. It has not hurt my loss. Try the pudding cskes or crispy cereal pancakes,
