Good morning all, Friday here. Site down all last night, get:( Day 10 op on ip. I still have a headache, just took another bc. I wonder if the sweetener in the ip packs causing the headaches? Either way I will suffer through because thinner people do not get as many migraines as overweight people. Reason #47 to lose weight. I am finally feeling like this is an attainable goal. While the site was down last night I read on some other sites about this diet. Caloriecount.com calls it a starvation diet and asks their site users to not post anything about this diet as they do not advocate "fad" or starvation diets. Wow.

Well unlimited lettuce is an option, not a requirement and what consitutes "unlimited" will vary from person to person. So, while I do not suggest I stop eating the recommended 4 cups of veggies I am not sure about the tons of lettuce. Also, I am having the opposite problem of constipation. SOmeone else on here mentioned it a few days ago, and I couldn't relate because I had sluggish bowels. Now, however, I have the opposite and this is day 3. I am beginning to be concerned abouth whether my body is absorbing the nutrients? I was actually down 3 pounds today since yesterday. I would love to be excited about that but fear its dehydrating / malabsorption. I drink tons of water but not sure what else I should be doing . . .

As to a starvation diet, that refers not to how hungry you feel but that this diet has people consume far less than the recommended minimum daily calorie requirements (for women this is net 1200 or so on average). This was my biggest reservation about this diet - I am not a proponent of that either. I came to terms with it by deciding to accept as true statements that we are actually getting more calories than we are eating because we are using our own fat for fuel as well, so our body is actually obtaining those additional calories and we are not plunging ourselves into an unhealthy deficit. At least that is what I am banking on . . .

Good morning everyone.
I actually used to be on caloriecount about 2 years ago when I was doing adkins. I am sorry Adkins is way moe of a starvation diet to me, I felt much worse dieting on that and I wasn't doing 30 minutes of cycle training a day as well. Have to say, we discovered something yummy last night, it was my wife's idea but it was good. We had taco salad for dinner last night, and she suggested using a few southwest cheese curls on the salad for that little extra kick and some cheesy flavor, it really made a difference. It was probably the best meal I have had for dinner since starting this diet, so good that we will probably have it again tonight. Plus it's a cheap dinner, what 6,7$ for both of us to eat, much cheaper than steaks or some of the other alternatives we have had. I forgot my shaker this morning...ahhh. At least I still have a whey shaker in my office, but it doesn't work as well. Keep positive everyone and thanks for the comments about my son, he is a little cutie, 4 months old and growing like a weed. |
Starvation diet was my biggest reservation too - because I don't want to set my body up for worst metabolic problems. All I can do to counteract is not workout too much when you're giving your body such little calories, and for me, easing back in to at least the minimum amount of calories (1200) with clean foods and complex carbs in the morning.
I'm so fearful that I'm going to do this for 19 days and see, what in my mind, will be not enough progress to justify the expense and the "cons" of the diet. I like that this diet is, although low in cal, emphasizing protien and good veggies and low sugar. Those are parts of it I plan to keep with me. As well as shrinking my stomach and helping with my cravings. But I am nervous that after 19 days - my weight loss will not be so much greater than if I had done a 1200 calorie diet with oatmeal in the morning and other clean items. I think I'm just grumpy because this is day 5 for me - I unintentionally ingested irish cream syrup in a coffee a friend of the family made for me - despite my instructions - and I saw zero weight loss this morning. I know expecting every day is extreme - but the first week is supposed to be a bigger week and if my first week isn't even very big - I'm not sure what to expect on this diet. :( |
Hey, Wayward, glad I'm not the only new parent on this diet! My daughter is 5 months today. It's good times. I hope yours is sleeping better than mine. :) Sounds like your wife is on board, and that's fantastic. I married the fastest metabolism in the universe I think - it's frustrating sometimes!
I know that "starvation" is bad, but I have to believe with all the EVOO, packets, veggies, etc, that we are a-ok. I just had my second WI this morning - down 14.8 in two weeks! Starvation or not, that number makes me feel great. :D |
Wow MrsD that's great for 2 weeks.
Actually yeah he is sleeping pretty well, he will be 5 months on the 5th. He sleeps from about 9 until about 5 in the morning, of course that is after a normal day at daycare, coming home and going on a walk with mom... gives me time to ride the trainer. Then home for a bath and a little playtime and then out light a light. He ate a ton yesterday though, he was in a mood. He was a preemie but you would never know it, he gained weight really fast when we finally got to bring him home. He just slowed down this past month, he was at 15.1lbs last Friday. Yay we are having taco salad again tonight, stuff was awesome last night!! And I still have plenty of left over southwest cheese curls from last night. I used like 10-15 of them which means it will make like 10 servings, there are so many of them in each packet, and then I just had half another restricted for snack even though I didn't eat half of the cheese curls, but I didn't want to overdue it. |
Happy Friday every one, today is day 2 for me and I'm starving.
sandyh50, whats the lettuce stir fry you mentioned? I'm just drinking water to try and curb my hunger a bit. thanks! |

Ok, I JUST realized why I have been missing you....you CHANGED YOUR PICTURE!!!!...you look awesome! |
I just made my lunch and made an ip omelet (from the packet) and put in mashed cauliflower in it for my veggies.
I am not a huge egg fan so I used a good amount of mustard (no sugar!) in it...but now I'm worried that I should not have had mustard. My IP sheet says only hot mustard and I used Goulden's. Anyone know if that was a no-no??? |
Had my weigh in today guys!!! 144.8! I am now officially 14 lbs down exactly, in 3 weeks!! I love this diet!
