I weigh every morning on my "unofficial" scales. I keep a spreadsheet on my computer that averages my weight for the week and then calculates weight lost and % lost from my starting weight using the weekly average. By using an average, all the ups and downs, well, average out.
I use the data for a nifty chart that plots progress against goal.
I also plug the numbers into an app on my phone that keeps some stats for me.
I weigh myself every morning too. I always have an excuse to tell myself of why I NEED to just check. My weigh in was yesterday but today is he 1st day of July and I joined the July challenge so I HAD to weigh in. (I was glad I did because it didn't move yesterday but is down .8 this morning!) I'd love to wait a whole week but I wonder if I wouldn't stress myself out too much worrying about it. I was thinking about trying every other day to ween myself off of it. Doesn't that sound horrible!
I weigh myself everyday..then weigh in at a gym boot camp 4 days a week..then once a week at IP. The funny thing is that none of the scales match..but at least they show I am losing.
How often does everyone get on the scale? I found since starting IP I can't seem to keep myself off. I know I should only be weighing myself once a week because weight fluctuates, but damn if I don't want to check everyday.
This is bad because if it has been 3 days (like today!) and the scale has not moved, I start questioning everything and it gets me upset. Now, I KNOW that this is not a good way to think and I KNOW that just because the scale has not changed doesn't mean that things aren't changing and I KNOW that this doesn't mean the program is not working. But I can't help myself?!?!?!?!
Deep down, I know all these things to be true. Does anyone else battle these demons too? Just curious if you all sneak peaks at your weight other than your official weigh in.
I do the SAME thing. This is what I do in order to stop the obsession: I tape a thick piece of paper over the readout of the scale with my GOAL WEIGHT on it. I still step on the scale but I get to visualize what I want to see. I always feel good knowing I'm on the journey to that number. Then, twice a week, I let myself "see" for real. One is on my own, the other at weigh in with my coach.
I have also taken the scale and put it in the trunk of my car. That works really well. Who wants to weigh themselves fully dressed in a parking lot or your driveay?

Have fun, it's all fun really.
What a great idea! I have tried to "hide" the scale from myself in the past, but I always end up digging it out. One time I even had my mom come over and hide it from me, but I ended up finding it
This week I am able to keep myself in check because my in-laws are visiting and I would hate to have them come out of their room to see me standing buck naked on the scale But I do believe my scale is going to be spending some serious time in the trunk of my car!
I go crazy if I don't weigh myself everyday. I know that for others it does not work this way, but for me, it does, it keeps me motivated and well informed.
Every day here too. It drives my husband crazy because he thinks it's unhealthy, so I try to sneak on it when he's in the shower. Haha. I keep telling him it doesn't affect my mood or motivation but he is not a fan. I'm guilty of weighing several times a day when I'm home from work too. Not sure if I will ever break the habit!
Every single day, as soon as I get up, before I take a shower, I weigh myself. I find that it keeps me accountable for my actions. I expect to see the ups and downs, but it still helps me to stay on track. The ONLY WI that "officially counts" is my WI day. It is what I live by and what I use in my ticker and so far it has always worked in my favor )

I'm with Wuv, I don't even own a scale. So once a week at weigh ins. I think it would be to easy to get obsessed w/weighing yourself if you own a scale and it fluctuates by the times you weigh, if you are retaining water etc. I can see how it would not be healthy. I have friends that weigh at all times of the day everyday and get obsessed if their weight fluctuates. Then they are probably starving themselves to get it as little as possible. Little do they know!
