Smile What do you think?

Hi everyone. I am coming to the end of week two on ip and so far like it very much. What I was wondering is the question should I weigh myself everyday or should I stick to once a week? On other plans I would be so discouraged if I did it daily but so far on this one I am actually losing more than 1/4 pound a week...yeah.

You should only weigh once a week.

We have a term for those of us who weigh daily (but I don't like to use it) and yeah, I am one of them!

I stopped weighing myself daily at around week 5. (Actually, I was weighing up to 3 times a day!). I followed the advice on this forum and now weigh at home once or twice a week - but use my weekly WI at the clinic as my official weight. I notice that the number on the scale isn't as important as it was the first five weeks - I now pay more attention to how my body feels and how my clothes fit.

Most are probably going to tell you to stay away from the scale. I, myself, am a SW (scale whore). I step on every morning right when I get out of bed. That is my gauge to how I'm doing. If the scale hasn't moved much, I try to tighten up my IP game or skip a restricted and increase water. If it's moved really well, I try to emulate what I did that day before. So, for me, it's been a good thing to daily weigh. Someone else can jump in here and argue the other side....

....hi, my name is Carla and I'm a Scale Whore...

When I first started reading this thread I thought "What is the word for people who weigh everyday, cause I do that!". I love the term, cause I don't think I could not weigh in everyday, so sure I'll be a SW. I weighed in every morning when I was gaining too. So it's just a habit that I have and I try to use to my advantage. I can't rely on my clothes...I don't seem to be able to pay attention to how tight they are, the stretch in the jeans doesn't help. Where would we be without the stretch! lol

I too am an everyday weigher. I can not not weigh myself just for a peak. But I tell you what this morning it was good. Yesterday I was really struggling with this diet. I did not go off plan but it was a struggle all day. When I got on the scale this morning and there was a loss, I thought to myself this is why I am on this diet, so just buck up. I feel much better so far today because of it.

I never heard of sw and it made me laugh out loud, thanks. I think I am like Carla that my clothes wouldn't show me in time. I don't wear things too tight so I could fluctuate 5 to 8 pounds before things would be too snug. Possibly I will slow down with the weighing myself as the weeks fly by. Thanks everyone.

I would say stick to what works for you but just know that eventually you may not see losses everyday and sometimes even gains during TOM. I weigh every morning as it gets me out of bed (not on weekends as I stay at my seasonal campground and refuse to take a scale) but I know that I usually see my losses on Monday mornings... go figure as I actually endulge a bit more on meat and veggies on the weekends at the campground??? Just dont let the scale frustrate you; only let it motivate you!!!

I weight myself daily, but I try to remember the big picture. I know there will be some days that I gain or stay the same, but over all the trend should be down.

I'm so glad to know there is a term for my addiction. I am a SW and I don't even apologize for it!!!! And I don't need no 12 step program!

I'm a SW too. I weigh every morning. Most mornings I am excited to get out of bed so I can weigh. Sad? Maybe, but there it is. I like tracking daily so that I stay accountable. I also like the boost I get from seeing the weight drop- it keeps me motivated.

It's really up to everyone to self assess and determine whether daily weighing is stressful. If a stall stresses you out, don't weigh daily anymore!

Well, I'm a scale whore too. Never thought I'd say that since I didn't even own a scale for over a year! I didn't gain or lose anything in that year either. Crazy. Anyway, I only weigh myself in the morning right after I get up. That way I can see if I need to add more water or whatever to keep on track. I do not weigh myself again during the day. That just leads to frustration! Since I'm on my own I only count the WI that was at the same day and time as when I was seeing my coach.

You have to do what works for you though! Everyone is different.

LOL!!! Im a SW too!!! That really is hilarious. And you've gotten great advice here. Daily weigh ins are a great way to see your daily progress. But use it to your advantage. Don't let it stress you out if there is an occasional gain. Good luck and SW's UNITE!!!
