Well, I'm a big fan of the Walden Farms Chocolate syrup for the crepes. I also liked the pancake syrup. Umm...I bought some caramel syrup and it lasted a day. I put it in my snack drinks and also just slurped it right out of the bottle. Now, I don't know what they make that WF stuff with, but caramel syrup is darn good, and I decided I better stay away even though it's 0/0/0/0.

I really don't care for the dressings.

Happy Saturday!

I'm glad to see that everyone seems to be having a good day.

To make the looong story short, my new Dr (I had to change Dr because I changed insurance) did a blood test last month and (ready for this?), my blood work was normal --- with NO MEDICATION! I haven't been on any meds since the reaction and since IP.
This is amazing! Congrats! My cholesterol is borderline and I hope that when I see my Dr next it will be improved!

My day has been pretty good. I think I've spent about 2 hours walking today because the dog wants to be outside every 5 minutes now that the weather is improving. I live in a condo complex, so I'm paranoid about just tossing him in my back yard, so we walked, and walked. I'm tired now- too bad he's not. :dizzy:

I surveyed the menu for Easter dinner with family. I get to make the veggies (brussel sprouts) and a tomato salad with oil and vinegar dressing. There will be ham and turkey, so I think I'm set! The treats are not a worry since I don't seem to be swayed by them lately. Man, it's like a completely different person is talking... weird.:D

snowclover 04-23-2011 09:04 PM

I'm confused. Can I ask a couple questions?

My IP protocol sheet says hot peppers are okay and peppers are restricted... are bell peppers restricted?

Also, if i add my olive olive oil to my stir fry meat as it cooks does that count as "frying" it? I'm new to cooking...

I'm on day 15 and still not sure I've quite got the rules down, I'm afraid that I'm making it harder on myself by making little mistakes with ingredients and in cooking the food. I'm learning as I go. You should have seen how long it took me to figure out hot to use the steamer basket. (Why don't those things come with directions?!)

Thanks every! Happy weekend!

New IP Dieter

Hi Everyone. I just started the IP diet. I started exactly one week ago and have lost 4.6 lbs. I was hoping to lose more in my first week. I haven't cheated at all and my diet was absolutely horrible before I started. I probably consumed 3 regular sodas per day, 1 frappacino per day, and ate fast food for at least one, if not two meals. What can I expect for my weekly weight loss? I was hoping 5 lbs per week, but didn't even hit that my first week :(

jlb 04-23-2011 09:14 PM

I think green bell peppers are ok, but red and yellow are on the restricted list.

Beware the Crystal Light-like drink mix Great Value Naturally Sweetened Low Calorie Drink Mix, sold at Walmart... it's made with Stevia, but what you don't see on the front of the package is that it's mostly sweetened with cane syrup solids... SUGAR!!!.. :tantrum: Stevia is waaaaaaay down on the list...

I've been drinking it for about a month & didn't relate it to the awful carb-cravings I've been having 'til today... so, out it goes...

Off topic: hummingbirds are here!.. a male & a female black-chinned hummingbirds at the feeder at my house today... the fun begins!..

hugs

Oh I just love humming birds...they are beautiful....I put up my two feeders today...I love watching them and their personalities...
Have a happy Easter...

I have been told that the bell peppers are not restricted. I eat them all the time, and am down over 20lbs in a month.

I havr to agree with you 100% I am in LOVE with the caramel syrup. That stuff is just unbelievable. I liked the chocolate one too.

As for the salad dressings, I thought they had to be good because the syrup was heavenly. Well, I bought the creamy bacon, sweet onion and thousand island. I tried the onion one first and it was disgusting, then I tried the bacon one, thinking bacon makes everything good, right? Wrong! it was also horrible. I was afraid to try the thousand island, but it was better than the other 2. I also got some alfredo sauce, thinking it would taste great over cauliflower and chicken, well it was watery and chemically tasting.

Wow thanks! My husband uses that stuff, but I've been sticking with the Truvia. Now I will make sure I have my Truvia lemondae stuff in stock.

Ok, just learned this "NSV" thing and thought, "hey, I have one of those!" Check this out:

I've been on cholesterol meds for a few years now and my wife would really like me to get healthy so that I can lower the dosage. Well, although I've been on cholesterol meds, my cholesterol is still high. So my Dr has been experimenting with different meds to see what works.

Flash forward to Dec 2010 when we changed to a new med to try and get my cholesterol under control; instead, I get a bad reaction that sent me to the hospital in an ambulance. That's when we decided to do IP the first monday of Jan 2011.

To make the looong story short, my new Dr (I had to change Dr because I changed insurance) did a blood test last month and (ready for this?), my blood work was normal --- with NO MEDICATION! I haven't been on any meds since the reaction and since IP.

Anyway. my wife was so excited, she cried :)

I know I don't share much, but I thought that's a good NSV to share. Thanks for reading.

HAPPY EASTER!!!

Wow that is AWESOME! I worry about my husbands hypertension, he's only 28 and close to needing meds. Thankfully his BP was down last Dr's but I still worry.

I have heard so many success stories on here, so here's my dilemma...I lost 6 pounds in the first week, and NOTHING in my second. I am discouraged at this result, and I haven't even cheated. Any suggestions?

Anyways...Happy Easter everyone, and I look forward to some replies

Hey GailMarie,
My mother had the same problem (except at week 3) she was drinking 2 chocolate shakes/day. She is extra sensitive to chrbs and those chocolate drinks are the highest carbs of the non-restrictive. We figured that out 3 days before her WI this week and she is finally moving again.
Note: The RTD chocolate shake is lower in carbs

First peppers, I was told all are ok, I pretty much eat all but green and I have been ok!

Oil olive in a stir fry is fine, that is sauteing/stir frying
FRYING is immersion in oil. So long as the oil isn't covering more than just the bottom of the pan (ie more than 1/4" deep) you are fine.

Since you are new to cooking, here is a tip that will come in helpful: if you are cooking extra thick meat (chicken, pork, etc) and sauteing it on the stove (in like 1-2 tsp of oil) cook it so it is nicely browned on one side, flip it and put it in a 400 degree oven to finish (10-15 minutes usually). Make sure your skillet can do that (no plastic handle). This method has been a godsend for lean center cut pork chops and fish. I usually pound out my chicken.

Had Red Robing (Yum!) for dinner. Burger in lettuce with broccoli. I was surprised to enjoy it.
Found out my Brother (20) just had emergency surgery. Apparently he needs to learn to chew his meat more thoroughly. He got a piece of steak stuck in his throat (thankfully below his windpipe) and had to get it taken out since he couldn't eat or drink anything. He is in the hospital overnight, but Mom said he should be fine.
Good luck!

I haven't tried the caramel syrup (didn't know what I'd use it on), but the pancake syrup and blueberry syrup are awesome!!! I love them both.

I have had a hard day. Woke up late at 9 and I have to take my thyroid meds and not eat for 30 minutes for them to work. So I take my dog out for our 2 mile walk as usual and I finally at breakfast at 10:15. The whole day I felt strung out like all my feel good, normal energy had been squeezed out of me. I ate eggs for lunch thinking I maybe they would make me feel better. No go. In the car driving to my mom's house, I felt so awful that I couldn't think and was so tired and exhausted. Had my protein packet at 4:30. Still didn't feel better. Can eating breakfast too late really do that to a person? What happened to me today? I was even crying in the car at one point because I felt so out of sorts. I had shrimp for dinner and another extra packet at 10:15. I hope I feel normal tomorrow. I just wanted to crash in bed all day. I will eat breakfast at my normal early time no matter what from now on!

Welcome to a bunch of new folks! Seems to be a busy IP week out there.

I just bumped up a thread with reviews on Walden Farms (WF) products you might want to take a look at to see what others think of the products. It is pretty incredible the range of reviews you'll see there. Some people LOVE the products and others HATE them. Pretty interesting, actually.

Take some time to review the threads so you can see what other people have experienced on IP. Ask as many questions as you want... there are lots of experienced folks on IP who visit these threads.

If you celebrate tomorrow, Happy Easter! If you don't, Happy Sunday!

Welcome to the new IP'ers and those that are new to the message boards. It's also nice to see some of you that have been away popping in!

Happy Easter! It's after midnight here. I am still up waiting for my kids to fall asleep. We decided to stay home and not go to the normal family dinners. One reason is this diet, and secondly tomorrow is my youngest daughter's birthday. We thought it would be more fun and easier for me to just to have a relaxing day at home. I think we'll just cook something on the grill, and have some mashed cauliflower. We do have a cake for my daughter's birthday, but I will have a bar or some pudding when they are eating cake.

We went out to eat this evening at Ruby Tuesday. I had a steak, grilled asparagus and grilled zucchini. Yum! It's incredible to me some of the foods that I get so excited about now. I am so thankful for this change!

Have a great day everyone! Hope to be getting to bed soon. I am sure the kids will have me up early!

hey everyone, i just started the ip diet 4 days ago and i feel really nervous to pay so much money and not lose weight, was wondering after 4 days passing should I have lost any weight??
Is there a chance this diet may not work on some people even if they follow it correctly?
So many questions please respond if you know any answers:D
