Although I have not been doing the diet at 100%, I can say that my eating habits have drastically changed and I am eating SO healthy compared to my behavior before IP. I need help and motivation to go from 80% on the diet to 100%!! I am so willing and able to do it!
I really enjoy working out. It's time during the day only for ME! and I just love it. It also helps me on the diet because I get really motivated during my workout thinking about a thinner me and how I know I will accomplish my goal weight (its almost like a therapy session for me). I have a few questions regarding working out. I know a lot about nutrition (I have a minor in nutrition)....but I can't connect the dots on why its not good to have a hard workout on IP. Can someone please explain this to me? I understand almost all of the nutritional aspects of the diet...but I've researched and researched and I can't get this part. I try asking my coach, but I don't get the answers I need to fully understand. Please help!
Have a great night everyone! I hope I can help motivate and encourage fellow members!

I am into exercise too (was before IP--for mental health as much as physical!) so it was hard to wrap my head around this also. But this is a little of what I know/have learned (and I'm sure others will have more to add).
The bottom line is: The IP protocol is soooooo low in calories that if you start working out too intensively you'll start burning muscle
instead of fat and since burning fat
while retaining muscle is the entire premise behind the IP program, that's not a good or desirable outcome.
Since I started training for a half-marathon about 6 weeks into the program and when my mileage increased (8-9+ miles) I sought advice from my consultant and was given an "athletic" protocol to follow on my long run days. It has helped. My tank doesn't feel empty during my runs and I finish with plenty of energy. I also don't want to "bonk" on race day OR start eating too many carbs and end up in the port-a-potty for the entire race!
So, my suggestion, talk to your clinic again. Tell them exactly how much you work out and ask if they have an athletic protocol.
I know that intense exercise (heart-rate elevated) is discouraged
during the IP program, I also know that my clinic strongly believes that beyond learning to eat properly and reaching your goal weight you MUST exercise to maintain that weight/fat loss.
Okay, that's all from me! Let the others chime in.
Good Luck!
