Stopped by to check in on everybody. It's been a few weeks. I was doing great then emotional eating took over. Our very good friends lost their young son from a bicycle fall. Traveled to be with them and their family at this sad time.

Also have been having back problems myself which has turned into having a MRI done which showed arthritis and curvature of the spine. Physical therapy and meds. MRI also showed two cysts on a kidney so now I get to have an ultrasound done to recheck for size change in a month. Talk about an emotional rollercoaster.

I can't seem to get back to program. Hopefully I will be able to soon.

Looks like everyone is doing great! Keep it up and I hope to join you all soon.
Take care.

Thanks to the fabulous advice I received here, I started Phase 2 today.

I had an unexpected drop this morning, after I 'slipped' and added in some extra oil on my salad last night, and added a bar back in - I think it's true that the body hangs on to fat if it's not getting enough calories. I'm now only 5 pounds to my goal, and I feel good about starting to transition off.

I've also got a planned cheat this weekend, who knows, that may kick my metabolism up to get me through the last five.

(Calories in - Calories out) is only the very beginning of the equation. It's much, MUCH more complicated than that. Thanks for reminding me to eat. :-)

Thats what I'm talkin' about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There you go AND you needed the oil. That's your body sayin' thanks. Keep up the great work!

Thanks, weird but I have learned a ton about myself on this journey. I used to just be 100% perfect or "heck with it...I messed up...I'm done!" But my mindset has changed so much. I learn a ton from this website and all the wonderful women here.

Thanks...but you....wow...wow...wow...I sent your info to my daughter to keep her going as she has 150 pounds to lose.

Thanks

Thanks Kim...you have been right there since near the beginning...and have done awesome yourself.

I love microbrew beers...but oh the carbs...I stay right away....but so yummy. Thanks for the compliment

Well ladies let's see if I can finish phase one and move to phase two in the next 6 weeks. Thanks for all your support and friendship

How are you by the way???? Are you there yet????

i'm still dinking around with 150. but i have a plan.....coloradodive girl suggested i just go out and cheat it up this weekend then put away all my little no no's and make a bee line for goal. so that is exactly what i am doing. i have to say tho, my stomach was not happy about it. on friday we had sushi. no problems there. saturday i had garlic toast, bbq ribs and salad, then beers, chips, dips etc at a party. i was so bloated and gassy, then alot of time in the ladies room if you know what i mean. so i'm drinking some water today and deciding what my last item to eat today is. then i'm OP monday morning! wish me luck!

i remember telling one of the newbies to not let emotions and trauma/drama ruin your eating program... HA.... then my dad died. i learned to not give advice on things i really don't know anything about! i'm so sorry for your friends loss and your medical problems. it's hard isn't it. hopefully you can sort through it and then decide if you are going to stay OP or not. good luck whichever you choose.

Great weekend but not great IP :( Started back 100% on Sunday so today would be day 2 100%.....going to stay that way until I can make it thru my 2 weeks on phase 2.

I know I have said it before but I don't like phase 2 but I'm going to suck it up and get thru 2 weeks. Could have been done already if I would have done it right..

Lets get it done!!!!!

Maggiemagu 04-25-2011 11:12 PM

RONDAR...You know I wish you luck!!!! Come on we can do it!!!

Good thing we don't live close by since we both like the same non IP drink :)

I'm back again. I need this place to keep me accountable, I guess, based on my inability to stay OP. This crappy spring has a lot to do with it. It's gray and raining almost every day, and it has really affected me this year. BUT -- I am back OP as of yesterday and I really want to get this DONE!

juiceman11 04-26-2011 07:53 AM

I posted in the daily chat thread today that I have 4 people starting what we are calling the "John Size Me" program. IP protocol with alternatives. One lady has hypothyroid issues and I told her to speak to her doctor about this because I know I have seen posts about it. Can any of the experienced IP'ers give me some insight on this? What should we change for her? Is there anything that she needs to watch for? Concerns? Thanks. You all are doing so well. Great job!

Hey lady, how goes it? Don't worry...no mess ups...just life happening. As long as we keep ourselves in check.

You got this....I too am digging deep...hoping to lose 15 more and then phase off at least until fall. I want to make it to June 13th without a cheat (that will be exactly 9 months).

If after 15 I feel I have more to lose (although...yipppeee I will be at a healthy BMI)....I will jump on in September to lose 10 more or so.

I know we can make it to June when you head to Disney and I head to Vegas.

Not culinary, that was the birthday cake (salad) that the girls got for me since I wouldn't eat real cake. Sweet!

Stuck on 174, I have started swimming laps, but I added some eggs to my salad at lunch to increase my protein. I'm not giving up, just wanted to 'b' a little.

juice- i am a John Size Me since day one! fun name, i like it! calcium and soy are big issues with hypothyroid and most of the veggies on the list are also goitrogenic. most people separate their thyroid med alone first thing in the am and wait at least 1 hour. lots of others. mary shomon has one of the best sites for thyroid, also stop the thyroid madness is a good reference. i personally take armour when i first get up with a full glass of water and then i have my coffee/protein breakfast after i get to work 1-1.5 hrs later. everyone is different, research, research, research! i avoid soy proteins, and use only whey. and wait for 1 hour for my protein because most products have calcium in them.

also what have you decided you like for alternate since you left IP?

Lisaf373 04-27-2011 08:14 AM

I went off for the holiday weekend, partly to reset to speed things up, but mostly so I could feel like a normal human for a few days. I definitely accomplished the latter, but I put myself into a lot of pain by doing it. I need to remember that my body is not used to dealing with that much food anymore. It was a definite lesson about the fact that I can't go back to eating the way I used to.

Hopefully, I'll get some diet value out of this, and will break through the last of my plateau, because otherwise it was a costly mental break.

I'm up six pounds since Saturday. I know that not all of that is fat - in fact, probably only a pound or two of it is. It'll probably be mostly gone by Friday or Saturday. But still, it's hard to see that number on the scale again and NOT get anxious about it.

Hang in there, and be careful not to restrict too much. It happens to everyone.

How long have you been stuck? I find my plateaus last about three weeks. Or maybe that's just how long it takes for me to freak out about them and do something drastic. ;-)

I use a 100% Whey protein powder from GNC, Isopure zero carb protein powder from GNC and pure protein bars from Walmart. I am getting ready to start phasing off and lifting more. I need more calories to lift and maintain a good workout.

whosinthemirror 04-27-2011 10:00 AM

Since I am doing alternative products since day 1, I have an email that I have ready to go for all those that have been asking about my "secret to success"... I call it "jen's not so round diet!" I figure I am "not quite so round" and since Dr. Tran said it is an unbalanced diet it works that way too...lol. I too got tired of trying to explain it over and over. Get to feeling a bit like a broken record. And most of them hear no carbs or no fruit and say no way they could do it! I just do a little carrot dance :carrot: say " the day will come when you are ready! Let me know and I will send the email" I smile and walk away smiling... :D I figure in another 50 pounds they will be knocking down my door! So glad to have all you chicks who understand! Keep up the good work my friends!

kjw83 04-27-2011 10:18 AM

Can someone on this thread help me? I posted on the daily chat also, but thought I would here too. Can I use peanut butter on my toast in place of the butter? Is a whole english muffin the same as 2 pieces of toast? The whole grain english muffins I have are 16 grams for 1/2 of one. That seemed like a lot to me so I only ate half. Do I have to eat both the egg and ham or just one or the other? And last, is the yogurt the sweetened kind or unsweetened? My coach wasn`t real helpful and I don`t know what I`m doing here! I`m also feeling really guilty for all this food I`m eating and freaked that I`m going to gain weight back, on top of not losing for 5 weeks now. I thought maybe phase 3 would shake my body up a bit and let go of the last 8 pounds. We`ll see.

I have used the pancakes, the hot chocolate (aspertame free) and some of the bars (some are exactly like IP bars). I have also purchased my choc soy puffs from Nashua.
Good Luck!!

Hey everyone.

Hi everyone!!!

Yes, I know it's been awhile since I've stopped by, I just got real burned out with the daily chat, so I sat in the corner with my IP butterscotch pudding, all by myself.

Yes Ronda... I know how bad you've been, but those days are behind you know and you are on a roll to the finish line, huh? I have those :cheer: when you are good, and I also have the :rollpin: when you are bad, so don't make me use it on ya! :)

I am still on this damn bootcamp, I hit my goal weight (110) at my last weigh in, coach wants to keep me on phase one until I hit 107. I so highly doubt that I got 3 pounds off this week, maybe 2 but not 3. WI isn't until Thursday, if sure would be awesome if the extra day gave me an extra pound... lol.

I have been mixing in a few alternative products to my IP stuff. You should see my pantry shelf that is loaded with all sorts of low carb stuff (yes, I am OCD and I'm "nesting" for phase 4, baby) I have ordered some stuff from Lindora. The Apple crunch pudding is really good and their dark chocolate pudding is pretty good, but it's mighty sweet. I have several other items but haven't had them yet since they are "restricted." Rondar (bless her beautiful heart) turned me on to Syntex Nectar from netrution and it's darn good too! I recommend buying the assortment package so you can try them all and then decide what you like best. Twisted cherry & Green Apple (the only two I've had) are delish!!!

I am struggling with trying to find a replacement for the IP RTD's. I found GNC Lean body... looked pretty good at first glance, 2 grams of carbs but 170 calories per serving.. YIKES! I think that's high. It maybe ok once I'm off plan, but not right now. Rondar and so many of you have written about the Premier drinks from Costcos. Well I read that they changed their formula about 2 or 3 months ago and the chocolate is terrible. I don't know if they changed the vanilla or not. If anybody has any info on that, it would be greatly appreciated. I would just buy the Lindora's RTD but the dang things are always out of stock.

Just wanted to pop in and give a shout out to my girl, Rondar and tell all of you that I'm thinking of ya!!! Let's get this protocol over!!! :cheer:

Have a awesome day and everyone stay OP!!! *staring at Rondar* lol!

Sherry

whosinthemirror 04-27-2011 12:31 PM

Do tell more about the Syntex Nectar... Do you just mix it with water? Is it in place of your shakes? Are you getting it from netrition.com? Does it have the same protein coating after feeling that the fruity drinks have? They sound interesting!

Coloradodivegirl 04-27-2011 12:40 PM

Hey Hey Whos!

Yes, you mix it with water and your shaker. It mixes very easily and it's a clean kind of fruit juice you could say. Let me find the specs for ya.

Recommended Use: Based on taste preference, mix one scoop of Nectar per 8-16 ounces of water. For those with lower protein needs, one half scoop may be consumed with 4-8 ounces of water. Consume Nectar two to three times per day to satisfy your protein requirements. Remember, the best times for supplementing protein are immediately upon rising in the morning, after intense physical activity such as weight training and prior to sleep. Nectar mixes instantly with a spoon and tastes great.

I paid 23.00 for 13 packets, 1.77 each and it's the assortment of flavors, and baby, that have a lot of flavors!
