When I weigh myself in the morning, and when I go for my weigh in, if I don't see positive improvement, I may start phase 2. Thank you so much for the response. It really does help a lot. |

I love reading the threads they are always full of useful information. I have reached my 90% as of today, but my WI is on Friday so i am going to stay on phase I until than, and Saterday I will start phase II. I am very excited. I am not sure why because the packets are so easy and phase II means I will have to cook more food. I guess I am excited because it is like knowing you have run a marathon and the last couple of miles are insight. I thought losing weight would feel good, but I really think that knowing that I stuck with something and am completing a goal has really helped my psychological out look about myself, and what I can do if I make a commitment.
Thanks for everyones post, it is so rewarding to be apart of this group. Ginger |

My question is...Does this diet have an end? I read a few ppl say that they are going off plan, etc. and a few others that say they are in maintenance, but sounds like they are still spending the money and such to keep up the high protein. So, if I were to choose to do the IP plan, and I get to my goal weight, do I ever get to go back to a more average diet? Or to maintain do you continue eating the same Protien with Minimal carbs? |
I had an interesting comment from my Sister-in-law yesterday. As we were packing her house up for her move, she said "I miss the old you, where we would sit down and eat junk together!" That was a huge compliment. She sees that I have made a lifestyle change and as hard as it is, it pushes her to be better. When we had a break, instead of reaching for the bag of Doritoes (which were calling my name all day) I had a protein bar and she had a protein shake! Job well done!! I also got 6 hrs of continuous exercise. The only downfall was when they ordered in pizza for dinner and I wasn't prepared. Seeing as how I am on maintenance I had a couple of pieces, but am back to protein and veggies today!
Have a great day. I am excited because I am only 2 mo. away from keeping this weight off for 1 year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I believe you start reintroducing carbs in phase 3. You get 'cheat days' in phase 4 as well, where you can eat whatever you want, and a plan for recovering so you don't gain weight from it. Phase 4 does not officially contain any IP prepackaged foods, but my center, at least, allows you to continue buying them if you choose to incorporate them in your diet. But you don't HAVE to. Hope that helps! (I'm still in Phase 1, so, someone who's actually finished might have better info than mine.) :-) |
Sleep
Is anyone else having a hard time staying asleep at night? It seems I'm in at 10:30 and up at 3am. Then I am twilight or awake until 5:30.

Any other thoughts from other people ? P.S. I had just sent you a PM, Mary Carol |

anyone? (please dear lord let someone be in as bad of shape as i am! :dizzy:) could it possibly be like when bill clinton said ya, but i didn't inhale? :D |
Bra
The best way to look great is to purchase a new bra that fits, lifts, and separates. Often times we neglect this all important implement. Always try your clothes on over a new bra to make sure you're not doing the sausage roll jog bra look.

And that's saying something, as clothes that fit really make a difference in how you look. It's expensive to replace your wardrobe, especially when you're losing multiple sizes, but, I strongly recommend buying at least a few pieces that fit at every stage. Especially a bra that fits. :-) |
Losing Weight in Phase 2 and 3
For those of you who have gone into Phase 2 and 3, and continued to lose weight - how long did you stay in those phases? I assumed it was only two weeks in each, but I reread the docs and realized that that's the minimum. So, when you say you've lost weight in Phase 2 or 3, do you mean during those minimum two weeks, or are you staying there longer?

The Crazies
Another "is it just me?" question:
Do you find you make yourself crazy over whether or not the scale is moving? My mood and general state of mind these days is so dependent on what that number says. I drive myself and the people around me crazy when things are not progressing as fast as I'd like. I know I need to stop (I'm trying to start transitioning off asap, because I can't do this anymore) but I'm wondering if it's just me, or if this whole weight-loss process is as maddening to everyone else as it is to me. -Lisa |

I lost 52 pounds in the first four and then only 20 in the last 3 3/4 months (But have been to Las Vegas, a cruise, Finger Lakes wine tour, Atlantic City...wow). Now all of my trips are done until July and I better be at maintenance.
I plan to have about 7-8 perfect weeks now! I am 4 pounds from my original goal, but I want to lose another 12-16 after that. Keep up the great work. I have learned so much about life and myself through every part of this process. Food is not scary and cheats are not cheats...just life! No more ALL or NOthing mentality for me.....plan it, enjoy it, then focus on lifelong eating changes. |

Update
Thanks to the fabulous advice I received here, I started Phase 2 today.
I had an unexpected drop this morning, after I 'slipped' and added in some extra oil on my salad last night, and added a bar back in - I think it's true that the body hangs on to fat if it's not getting enough calories. I'm now only 5 pounds to my goal, and I feel good about starting to transition off. I've also got a planned cheat this weekend, who knows, that may kick my metabolism up to get me through the last five. (Calories in - Calories out) is only the very beginning of the equation. It's much, MUCH more complicated than that. Thanks for reminding me to eat. :-) |

I'm not really sure what phase I'm in mostly phase I or modified phase I. I can't really seem to get the phase II correct, I know it's not hard It's just easier the way I'm doing it I guess even though I know it's not 100% but I'm still loosing weight.
I need to just put my mind to it and do it so I can move to 3 then 4.....Funny when I started I thought phase I would be the hardest....IMO It's the easiest. Have a good evening all!!!! |
