As we can no longer use food as a reward for accomplishments, what do you do when reaching those milestones? What is the one thing (or more) that you are looking forward to buying when your goal weight is reached?
For myself I decided to have my nails done at 25 pounds lost. For what I am looking forward to buying, (sorry guys) it is fun bra and panty sets that used to cost a fortune at my old size. Also that "little red dress" I can not wait!!!
That's a great question! I recall having this conversation before. Many of us had goals of getting a new tatoo, getting a pedicure, manicure, different things like that. I enjoyed making several goal points and rewarding myself along the way. Such as, a tanning package at 215, I will get a body wrap in five more pounds, a magic bullet blender, a new pair of jeans at a store I have never shopped at, etc. I am looking forward to having a favorite photo of my daughters put on my back when I hit 190. When I am done I would like to get my teeth whitened, get some new wedding photos taken. I remember one person getting some bourdoire (sp?) photos taken for her husband. I like to add other things in as I go along because I am a spoiled girl who likes to have reasons to treat herself!! HEHEHEHE!!!
This is a fun thread. Normally I would be thinking along the lines of a nice bottle of wine but now...I have had a spa pedicure and manicure, eyebrows waxed, eyelashes tinted...looking forward to a facial and a bodywrap and probably a massage once I start peeling off a few more lbs. Just not all at once! I like the spread the treats out a bit.
Oh that got me thinking about more things. A couple months ago I paid for a course a photographer friend wanted to go to in exchange for a set of pictures taken, that was long before IP. I told him he had to wait till the summer, now I want my teeth whitened too and a pair of Seven jeans to wear in the photos
Hmmmmmm.... I've never thought about this yet. I guess I have been excited about buying new and smaller clothes. I like the bra/panty set idea as well!!
Really, I am when I'm done. I'm taking my six-year-old on every ride he wants to go on. Great thread! I made my goal list last night, actually, for every 10 lbs something small (a new lipstick, candle, etc.) and for the bigger goals (10% of my body weight is the first one), I've got bigger rewards. The list is a work in progress, like me, but one thing is certain...I'm going to Disney World!!!
I've thought several times about setting goals and rewards but in truth I don't really need anything. On the other hand, in two weeks I am going to have carte blanche to furnish a new apartment -- like buying a new house without any of the baggage (or treasures) of the old one. That should be treat enough for anyone.
Still, there is one thing I really want. For years I've wanted to go to a truly good hammam. Years ago my son told me there was a great one in Paris (two days after I got home). But Berlin, with its tremendous influx of Turkish citizens now has wonderful ones in luxury spas. It's worth waiting and working for. I can't wait. As soon as I get over this strep throat I'm going to imitate Preacher's Wife (was that her name?) and walk 5 miles every day, come ****, high water, ice, or snow.
What a great thread! When I meet my goal weight I am going to go on a shopping spree of course. Along the way I've rewarded myself with haircuts/colors, pedicures, manicures, new makeup, smaller clothes, etc...and shoes of course!
Right now I'm at about 155 pounds and when I get to 130 I am going to get a gym membership. It's amazing how our rewards system changes.
