Default Start tomorrow and discouraged already...in need of cheerleaders

Hi I am new to the forum, but not new to diets..the usual ups and downs that we have all been through.

Last week at work I saw a gal drinking this drink and asked her about it and she told me about IP. I was intrigued..and intrigued at her 22lb weight loss in 5 weeks.

So I went home did my internet research and typed in everything I could to find out about IP. I typed in "hoax", "dangers of" all the things that would bring up reasons I should not do this. I found nothing that really scared me. So I went and paid and joined and start tomorrow. Feeling pretty good about my decision.

My husband is on board (which he usually isn't for things that cost, but knows I need to lose weight and that this is my choice and is supporting me)

Anyway..while I was signing up a gal who rents space in the same place I was going saw me and asked what I was doing and told her and she said "Shall I yell at you now or later" I politely said..later please.

Tonight I was talking to my sister who know the lady I saw today and tore a strip off me about the dangers of this diet (she is only going on here say) and that it is a rip off the coaches don't know anything and on and on she went.

I was hoping to keep this thing quiet and private just for me. Now my sisters know ( I have 5 ) and my mom knows and they are all judging it even before I start.

I still feel that IP is the best choice for me. That maybe my coach may not know everything, but I have a responsibility to look into it myself and not rely on my coach for all my info. I just wasn't expecting to feel so frustrated before I opened my first pack of food.

Kinda ticked at the gal..who ran off and blabbed to my sister. I think she should have been more professional about it..No I wasn't there to see her, but her professionalism should have extended to the waiting room as well.

So that is my first post. I hope it is okay to vent the first day. I really want this to work and want to be surrounded by positive people.

Thanks
Cie

What a rotten experience. And I don't see this as a venting; more of a desire to have your decision verified and to move among people who know what you're doing and why.

There are some really good posts here about how to deal with people who blather on about things they are ignorant of. If I were you I'd read as many of the stickies as are useful to you right now and think of yourself as having a lot of new friends who are willing to help. Welcome.

All the women (and men) in your lives will soon be asking for the name of your IP doc! It's a great program, follow it and you'll do great.

I'm finding that people who need to lose weight but aren't bothering to try to lose any are the ones who:

1. Are skeptical about IP
2. Make remarks about how I'll just gain all the weight back once I'm off it.
3. Are so jealous that they can't bring themselves to acknowledge my 28- pound weight loss.

Ignore the naysayers and be secure in the knowledge that this protocol WORKS if you follow it to a T.

Hard as it is right now, ignore these people who don't know anything about this diet. Concentrate on sticking to your plan and use the negative energy from the to fuel your " I'll show them attitude " . In about three to five weeks, as others have said they will be seething with jealousy and want to know exactly how they can do it to.
I had plenty of skeptics to deal with and several are now eating their words ( no calories in those! ) and asking how I do it.
If you need to vent do it here. You will always leave encouraged and positive!
Best wishes for great weight loss success!

Ciebelle,
Do this for yourself! Don't let anyone derail you before you even start. After that first week, you are going to feel great, the pounds are going to fall off and you are going to find that it's much easier to stick to this diet than any other you've tried. I am sorry that someone found it necessary to blab your personal information. I have kept the fact that I'm on IP from everyone but my husband, daughter and a very good friend. They have been my cheerleaders (as well as this forum). Unfortunately, the secret will be out soon because it's hard to ignore the fact that I've lost almost 20 pounds in 6 weeks (and that's with being off plan for two weeks while on vacation).
I think the No. 1 rule in dieting should be " do it for YOURSELF!"

Good luck with IP! You can do this!

Cie. Prove them wrong sister!!! I have met with some resisitance myself, but in three weeks, I have lost nearly 15 pounds and I feel great! The first few days may seem a bit rocky, but hang in there and then just wait for them to watch you turn into a butterfly!!!

Cie---This is a great eating plan!!! I have been on many diets and nothing has worked like IP!!. I have lost almost 50 lbs and am melting off inches like never before!!! Remember 1 day at a time soon becomes weeks and a more leaner, healthier you will be able to tell all the naysayers just what a great plan you are on!!!

Good Morning Ladies,
Thank you for all the words of wisdom. It was just what I needed to wake up to this first morning!

I have my first protein in front of me (Cappuccino) and have had my vitamins and about 3 of my waters. (I am a big water drinker)

I am determined and glad I came here for back up.

Many thanks,
Cie

HI,
I just started this program Aug. 20th, 2010. My start weight was 294lbs now @ 272lbs. I feel great and have many people think this is the worst thing ever bla bla bla. They do not have the information that I have and they did not have the feeling of defeat I had when I started. I have had an amazing experience and I want to share with anyone who is interested. My health is what is important and I am doing what I have to do and I am happy. So making the decisions for ourselves is most important not letting everyone else do this for us. I am glowing now not glowering!

Good luck to all and smile!

I agree with the reasons listed previously why most people are against the plan. In my case they are just so used to me starting a new diet, I think they just roll their eyes no matter what the plan might be. Of course now that they see the weight coming off they are a bit more supportive and inquisitive

You have come to the right place in the IPForum. There are wonderful, caring, knowlegable, supportive people who will be with you every step of the way. I faced some of the same things. My sister and Mom were complaining how I was just so very heavy they were worried for my health. I chose IP and then they were worried that the diet was so "dangerous" and not healthy. I lost over 90lbs in 22 weeks and now it is "dangerous" because I am losing weight to quickly. You get to the point where you just have to decide. I am sick to death of dealing with this weight issue and I am going to follow this protcol and learn the way to be healthy for my remaining days on this planet!

I try not to let their comments bother me. You can refute their points and mention that the diet was based on research done by a doctor, that the program has been successful for over 25 years or that it is recommended that you follow this program in consulation with your own doctor. But, like people have mentioned, in the long term, it is YOU and YOUR health. Love yourself enough to take care of yourself and regain your health by losing this "toxic" waste dump of fat on your body. You can do it and we will support you!!

<rant> Does it seem like, given some posts the last couple of days, that there should be some inservice or consciousness raising about the meaning of the word confidentiality????<\rant>

being overweigh or obese is more unhealthy(diabetes, high blood preassure, high cholesterol, etc.) than trying a diet like IP which is rich in proteins vital to keep hair, nails healthy and build muscle mass, and low in carbs, no sugars, low in calories, which will make you lose weigh the healthy way, with little effort, and still feel energetic and have your daily vitamins what else could be better? Ip is worth it.

Talking IP is the best!

I've told others that IP was way safer then having gastric bi-pass surgery. You actually eat better and you don't have to go under a knife. The key is in the ketosis. IP is so much better though then even popular ketosis diets like Atkins as you aren't eating all the fats and heavy meats. Plus the four phases give me hope that this will be the last diet I ever need.

I love how Dr. Tran even builds planned "cheats" into maintenance so you know just how to deal with keeping your slim figure forever. I have tried many diets, done tons of research and this is the only diet in years that has made good sense to me.

Plus I've lost 21 pounds in 17 days! I can bend over and get up from my chair so much easier now, I have energy to spare and best of all I'm not even hungry! This diet rocks!

You can do this and they will be the ones blushing.
