BPPV! I thought about that but, wasn't sure how common it is. I feel like sometimes I jump to the more challenging choice instead of starting with the obvious! I am SOOO glad someone on this board could speak with experience about it. That Epley maneuver is GREAT! I wish we'd known about it years ago, my mom had to deal with this. I plan on having my grandmother try this when I see her. She has been suffering for quite awhile and doctors haven't found a way to improve things. THANK YOU! Quote:

It is also possible this is just "that week". We all have weeks where you don't lose as much as you want. Keep eating the way the protocol is written, no extras or extra portions, don't skip meals, and drink water. You will go back to the higher weight loss if that is what is healthy for your body. Also, keep in mind, if you are doing the diet as it was written that 2 pounds should be almost all fat! Losing 2 pounds of fat is a large mass so, keep your eye on those INCHES LOST! They should still be coming off despite any "smaller" losses of pounds. Keep it up! You are doing good. Quote:
This has been reported by people several times. In the beginning, as your body learns how to and adjusts to the use of ketones as fuel, skip the exercise. You can slowly ease back into it in week 2 or 3. Follow your coaching teams advise. Sometimes the machines they use are skewed by too much or too little water and how that interferes with the Bio Impedance Analysis equipment. If this continues, they are likely to add extra protein, real or in a packet, to your diet to prevent the continued loss of protein. A few people on this forum are already experiencing that. LINDEN: SAID:"I found this helpful because it condenses a lot of very useful information. http://shine.yahoo.com/event/loveyou...ounds-1964849/ (Maybe not as helpful [or gracious] as Carla's posts, see below, but I hope it helps someone.) I have a question. Has anyone used a far infrared sauna for health purposes, e.g., fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, weight loss???" AWW, you are too sweet! :o  I LOVED this link you posted. I had to add it to my facebook page too! I have eliminated so many of the things suggested in that post and am trying to get my family to do the same. I am a big believer in natural, organic and I have gone back to using glass instead of plastics in my kitchen and where I can in the house. I saw something at the store to keep veggies "fresh" in. I found it so strange it was labeled biodegradable plastic. I thought "if it degrades, why do I want my food in it??? That stuff has to be going somewhere, right??" Regarding far infared. Yes, we have used it for my sister and my dad. Both felt some relief. My dad has Poly Myalgia Rheumatica and has for about 20 years. Outside of prednisone (and sometimes relafen) the only thing he found that worked were the saunas and baths in Korea. He does get some relief from the infared too. Enough to keep him going. My sister had high blood pressure (had a stroke at 31) and cardiac issues. Her doctor recommended she try it since medication wasn't creating a desired change. She had a slight response but, not much. She actually like the migun table better. http://www.migunworld.com/testimonial.php The best thing she has done was alternative medicine, cranial sacral treatment, and energy medicine. She it corrected her anxiety, bowel disorder, blood pressure, heart and several other things. She is LITERALLY off all medicines and testing normal again. She was so impressed with the change created in just a few short months, when she had see every specialist around for 12 years, that she in now an energy medicine and cranial sacral practitioner in Virginia. I hope you are doing ok lady! Quote:
If you are using a protein and a fasting acting carb to recuperate, you could use a restricted item (bar for instance) instead. Pick a restricted that is low on the carbs relative to the restricted packet values. Space your restricted items at least a day apart. If you do that you should be fine getting to your weigh in! |

:carrot::carrot: Good for you for learning to plan ahead with your food, that is how you will be succesful on this diet and as a lot of people will tell you is one of the hardest adjustments to make. |
Congrats Taylor!! Great job! I'm miserable here with the big C and our A/C is out. Ugh. I went for a hike this am and it was great. But coming back to a 90+ degree house sucks. Going to go shower again. I hope the repair guy decides to show up soon.

Had to share! |
Thanks for the welcome on a previous week thread. My concern with my post at the time was on my second day of IP, every meal was making me nauseous and I was not liking the taste of anything.
I found on my third morning (yesterday) that the crispy cereal tasted quite fine and I enjoyed it a good bit, but as the day progressed and I had the chili for lunch (also not bad) I again began to feel nauseous in the same way. My headaches had not decreased and by dinnertime (strawberry pudding for my afternoon snack had me gagging a few times) I realized I would be extremely hard-pressed to eat anything else. I made eggs for myself and my fiance and managed to eat a few bites before I finally conceded and said I just wouldn't have dinner. However, about 15 minutes later, as I was finishing taking my supplements and prescriptions for the evening, I vomited more violently than I ever have in my life, and was up for a couple of hours continuously heaving. It was extremely painful and I had cold sweats - the inside of my body felt like it was on fire. I felt much better when I woke up this morning, hungry even, but I don't think I can continue with this. I'm really disappointed because it seems like all of you are having such great success, and this is something I really need in my life. I'm unable to reach my consultant since it's the weekend, but I am not going to put my body through any more food unless some other problem can be identified. To throw it out there, I don't have food allergies, I know I'm not pregnant, I'm 20 and have always had a pretty strong stomach, and the only medicines I'm on are metformin for PCOS and an SSRI. I'm going to eat lightly and healthily for the weekend, but if anyone has any suggestions or stories to relate to encourage me to continue trying this diet, I would appreciate it. |
Greetings from IP Newbie in Toronto
Hi There,
I just introduced myself on the Introductions Forum, and wanted to do so here too, because I've just started IP. I've been reading the forums for several days and really appreciate all the good advice and support from those who've gone before. My IP coach is quite knowledgeable, but it always helps to have input from other experienced sources. I've checked out the IP recipes forum, too. Wonderful ideas there. Many thanks for those--my recipe repertoire is not extensive and so many former staples are now off limits or restricted that I really need the extra ideas. One can only eat so much steamed broccoli! LOL! So far, it's going great. Had my first WI yesterday (day 10) and have lost 8lbs in 10 days! I'm very happy with this success!:D I'm feeling good about this diet choice, and intend it to truly be the very last weight loss diet I ever use or need. So now, just 203 lbs to go! Jackie |

Have you checked with your doctor(s) about how IP's unbalanced, low-carb approach will work for you and with your current medications? I ask because several years ago I had unbelievable nausea on an SSRI and tempered it with having higher fat foods. (which I mixed with carbs and continued after stopping the SSRI which led me here. :) ) Quote:
:yay: Great work on Week 1! :yay: I'm glad you're happy with your coach and think that she's knowledgeable. That will probably make a big difference for you. Those who've been on the program for a while say being creative and/or open to new ideas will help you stay with it. So, you're starting off on the correct path by having browsed the recipes threads. |
Congrats to all for their weight losses!! wow you all are so encouraging!
Today at work the clients REALLY noticed me shrinking ( I had to take in my size 18 pants before work this morning, they were too loose in the abdomen/waist area! My client S. has a concern before and if she joins the IP program. I told her I BLOG on an IP forum, so she asked me to ask YOU... Miss S has 20pounds to lose, BUT has a kidney stone 5mm. in size. Her urologist already did the lithotripsey ( sound waves) procedure and it did not break up, and she has not passed it.. It's just stuck and she is NOT in pain ( thank God). Her dr wants to do another lithotripsey next month.. She was concerned with the calcium required on this diet and that her kidney stones would increase or get bigger?? I told her when the body is in ketosis, it prevents kidney stones from forming.. If she starts the diet will it help break down the one she has??? She was hoping for someone who has a medical degree to answer this question.. |
