Positivity Thread

I decided we should have a new thread, not necessarily for NSV's but they kind of are in a way. All positive things please!

What positive thing happened to you today that can be attributed to IP and your lifestyle changes?

Today I had to go to WF for more mushrooms and I went down the pb and cereal aisle. I have some coupons but I passed them ALL up. While I know I can incorporate them back into my daily diet when I am done, it doesn't mean I should have it in the house now. If the coupons expire before that date I'm pretty sure I'll survive.

I'm already looking forward to healthy balanced meals, making sure there is a veg at every one! No plain carb meals for me in the future!

Here's a positive. Had my WI this morning. Still losing!

Oh, and went to the grocery store last night...late. Walked past the bakery and nothing really seemed appealing. I remember my first 3 weeks on the diet, I couldn't go near it without wanting to eat everything in sight. Not a problem anymore!

I have had this same reaction. It is nothing short of miraculous! People can eat things in front of me and it doesn't bother me. I guess a stable blood sugar is a wonderful thing!!

I wore a shirt today that my brother had given to me as a gift from phuket. Never fit me even back about 15 years ago, fits perfectly now!

Energy

I am so thankful to have more energy than before IP. I use to come home and just collapse. Now, I cook, clean up the kitchen and the house as needed, ride my bike and still feel like doing more. It is great! :carrot:

I hosted a BBQ for my fiance's friends and didn't eat a single bite of any of the naughty food they wanted. I also reached my exercise goal of 10,000 steps! It was a good day in IP world.

That has to feel great! It is great to see progress!

Likewise, I had lunch with friends yesterday and was not tempted in the slightest by food I would have been drooling over just a week or two ago. A great side benefit to this diet. :)

hunter2 08-05-2010 02:21 PM

I have been out camping and with my family for the past 5 day's I made all kinds of goodies for the grandkids and I didn't even want any. This is what I just love about IP.

xanthia 08-05-2010 03:02 PM

Another benefit was that I'm more organized. I have meals planned out generally in the morning and when I'm going to be out I'm never stuck somewhere without at least a bar or something in my purse. Say I'm going shopping, I'll not go around a meal time unless I eat something first, because if I end up later than usual something bad might be calling my name.

Planning my dinner at breakfast gives me something to look foward to, and then I never hear the back and forth "what's for dinner? I don't know!" between my husband and myself. When we go out, I plan in the morning where we are going, and generally have a few alternatives up my sleeve incase they don't work out, but still, all planned and no crazy food choices to sabotage me.

Things do happen and I am flexible but I've learned to try to predict my days and fuel accordingly ;)

CUSU 08-05-2010 07:15 PM

Today was a great day. It was not as hot and humid as yesterday and I was able to take off my wedding ring for the first time in quite a few years. Oh, I put it back on :) Husband told me today that I looked skinny- so that's two things.

Good for you!! It's great to hear that I will be able to bake again soon without feeling like miserable.

tle1103 08-06-2010 07:50 AM

It's going to be a great day!
The weather is beautiful and it is Friday!
:o

Wearing pants to a meeting today that were so tight on my backside, I used to wet that area and do deep knee bends. :o:o
They are nice and loose today :) When I get home, I'm going through my "Small Clothes" to see what else fits! :carrot::carrot:

Midlife Meggie 08-06-2010 08:41 AM

I am out of control.:fr: All last evening I was surfing eBay, looking to bid on designer clothes in Small. I need an intervention, quick! This is too much fun.

TaylorMayde 08-06-2010 11:09 AM

Size 14 jeans. I'm just saying. Two days in a row, two different pairs. Last time I bought pants, I had to get a size 19. In the "boyfriend jeans" which were supposed to be baggy, but weren't. Yeahhhh Buddyyyyy :carrot:

Zebra35 08-06-2010 02:42 PM

I started this diet to get rid of my baby weight---baby is 11.5 months now... My admin today told me I look too hot to be a mom. :)

rosemary2612 08-07-2010 10:02 PM

I had a great day. I had a birthday, swim party for my best friend at my house. I made wonderful food, all foods that I love, and two of my friend's favorite cakes (mine, too). I made sure there were plenty of vegetables, but very few were eaten. I made my usual salad and did not eat anything unapproved. I'm not saying the thought didn't cross my mind, but I was pretty relaxed with everyone eating. I walked around in my bathing suit all day and felt fabulous. My friend was happy and that made me happy for her. Yes, it was a great day!

tle1103 08-08-2010 07:39 AM

This is the day that the Lord hath made. I will rejoice and be glad in it!

Kristiv88 08-08-2010 07:33 PM

Oh I am so happy for this thread! I LOVE reading how everyone has been so successful! I'm a newbie with IP -this is day 5 for me. Yesterday was a difficult day though. I just wanted to bite into some bread or cereal. I had to go to the grocery store and get more veggies and everything I walked by was just screaming at me. It was hard, to say the least. But I stayed strong and happy to say that this morning I was down a pound!

:carrot:

Midlife Meggie 08-08-2010 07:52 PM

I made it through the fair! WHEW.

Eight straight hours of booth after booth of cotton candy, fried hot dogs, ice cream, southern chili, funnel cakes, lime fizzes, beer gardens, yadda yadda yadda. Took my salad and salt and vinegar ridges along with a frozen bottle of water and sat at a picnic table for lunch with the family while everyone else gorged on fried chicken, corn, potato salad and curly french fries. The funny thing was NOTHING seriously tempted me. I felt fine with it all. It was a great sense of freedom, from cravings, from anxiety, from beating myself up over caving to irresistible temptation. We had dinner at a famous local diner, and I had a plain hamburger (beautifully cooked), no bun, salad and coleslaw with oil and vinegar. I enjoyed watching the family dig into truly obscene desserts and happily had a cup of black tea with lemon myself. And honestly, I truly had a wonderful day.

And I got to thinking, this is the first diet I have ever been on where people who've been on it for some time and successfully lost all their weight do not want to come off it. (There have been several posts where people have expressed uncertainty about leaving the safety of Phase 1 for the later phases). Now, how many diets feel that comfortable??

I am just amazed. Happy amazed. :) At how easy all this is, and how good I feel.

:bravo: Great Job!! The grocery stores can be hard with all the delicious smells. Keep up the hard work!

Here's my Monday morning story: I'm sitting at my desk at work and it's 10:15am. I have my morning "Cappuccino" in front of me and someone from Jimmy John's walks in. "We just want to show you some love!" She then sets down a BOX full of tiny sandwich samples in front of me.

On any normal day before IP I would have been so excited and would have eaten more than my share of sandwich samples. However, today I gave them to the office next door and am still enjoying my cappuccino!

Journeysend 08-09-2010 10:42 AM

I just wanted to share a HUGE POSITIVE!!! I have suffered for 25+ yrs with IBS to the point where even going out of the house was a problem. Since starting IP in April things have changed!!!! :) I just returned from a 3 wk trip with DH visiting his relatives in Germany and had a ball!!! NO, yes I said NO PROBLEMS with the IBS...what a God send IP has been in my life, not only have I lost lbs, but my health has improved and it has given freedom to go places without fear of dreaded accidents again!!! Am looking forward to spending 5 days in the city visiting my son and friends this coming weekend!!!
YAHOO FOR IP!!!!!!:)

makeitmatter 08-09-2010 12:33 PM

Fantastic early morning run! Increased my distance, the sun was just coming up, a steamy mist was hoovering over the water, the birds were chirping... Life feels great when you're not lugging around extra weight.

Marionm 08-09-2010 01:19 PM

I had to do a little shopping over the weekend because we are going to a family reunion this weekend and nothing fits. The clothes I bought were 2 sizes smaller! My husband has made it very clear that he likes the progress he is seeing!

Great willpower! That is awesome. I find temptations are easy enough to resist with IP!

xanthia 08-09-2010 01:55 PM

I went clothes shopping this Friday night. Now, every woman knows that trying stuff on after you have had all your meals and water and salt and everything else during the day generally sucks. I didn't even think about it and I went on my merry way trying to figure out what I could buy without replacing my whole wardrobe. I'm not making excuses for my size anymore when I'm trying on things, I'm just trying to look my best!

pitakitten 08-09-2010 03:16 PM

I am thankful that I have tolerance for ignorance around me.

lookin for loss 08-09-2010 04:58 PM

Great, great stories that make me smile!! :)

I used to hold back on making my family's favorite foods because I didn't want to eat the pie, spaghetti, breaded chicken, etc. But now I will make anything they want and mix in the healthy vegetable choices as well. They are Loving IP as much as I am!

HaHaHa! That is my mantra in life!

I went back to work after a two week holiday and people are finally noticing. People are asking me what the heck I have been doing to look so good. Being such a shorty, you would think someone would have noticed sooner. I had been expecting a comment from co-workers weeks ago. I don't require external validation on a regular basis but it is nice to be noticed after losing 27lbs in less than 3 months. I thought my pants would have to actually fall off before someone finally noticed..lol...:dizzy:

I got called "Skinny Minny" by 3 different people today!!!! Never in my pre-IP life could I be accused of being skinny!! :D

I have suffered from 1-2 sometimes 3 migraines per week. After the first week, I don't think I have even had 1 a week!

JessicaCourez 08-11-2010 02:26 AM

A few positive things for the thread: I can feel my hip bones, especially when I lay on my back. Before, you couldn't even tell I had hip bones when I was laying down.

My backbone is so boney I bruised it by leaning back on a bench. No fat to pad it!

I have a butterfly tattoo and my DH used to tell me that it looks like a Teradactelle(bad spelling) and this morning he told me that it looks like a butterfly again.

NSV - the darn scale won't move but I SEE a difference. Muffin top is now just a slight spill over. :) My arms look smaller than since I can remember... clothes that were too tight now fit. Im motivated to exercise again and can't wait for my new gym to open! It's ALL good!
