Thanks for the info and words of encouragement. Also for the lunch suggestions. Now that it is getting colder out I think I am going to do the sandwich thing for lunch and alternate with soup because I get really bored eating the same thing every day which helped contribute to my weight problem. Eating out every day for lunch is much easier than planning something nutritious to eat.
I started using my treadmill again today so hopefully I can keep that up and that will help with my hunger until the Meridia kicks in but I hope it is soon.
Nik, I wiped out after 3 minutes - asthma sort of kicked in, I think. Anyhow, we still do not have a heart evaluation. I may be going to Kingston (bigger city) to get that test where you just lie there and they inject stuff to simulate exercise. I have my Meridia samples and diary sitting right here and am keen to start.
Sorry not to let you know. I thought I had posted it here but perhaps it was elsewhere.
Oh yes - this little twerp doc says to me "You should lose weight and exercise more". Duh! Why did nobody ever mention that before! Moron!
Lol ruthiexxx, over doctor comment. Fools aren't they. My doctor just kept telling me to eat chicken and fish. Very helpful, huh?
Sorry to hear about stress test but that is not uncommon. Good friend of mine in work just had that happen two months ago. We use Boston hospitals so she had the test you described two days later. I am not sure how long I could make it on treadmill. My hubby had stress test two years ago (he has acid reflux problems) and he kept going and going and going and his heart rate would not come up. Finally they decided to forget it. I will be going away next Wed Ruth so will not"see' you for a while. Take good care.
Karia, glad you are using the treadmill. Exercise, they say, is the key (and Ruth's doc says so too, lol). I had been almost religious about exercising usually 6 days out of 7. I have not exercised in almost two weeks now. No excuse, I just have been soooo busy. I really notice the difference in how I feel. Although I hate to exercise I actually feel worse that I am not doing it. Again hope the Merida "kicks" in.
Yes well I to pooped out after 3 months...got too expensive in light of a pay cut and other monetary issues.
But i'm back on track now, and lost 5 lbs the 1st month back on Meridia, withOUT going back to Weight Watchers!
The good news is the 20 lbs i lost earlier this year have NOT come back and I intend to keep it that way.
Kudos to Nikolas and all the others who have the persistence that I didn't!
I just got home from the doctor, and she gave me Meridia. I just lost 15 pounds on my own( no meds) since last May, but I need help now with appetite. My doctor prescribed 15 mgs. Meridia. I have taken it once previously for a short period of time, and I think I lost 4 lbs. per month. At this point, I'd be thrilled with that, but I am hoping for more.
I will let everyone know how I'm doing, and I look forward to seeing everyone else's progress.
Barbara, good luck to you with Merida. My doctor started me with 10mg which I am still on and it will be a year at the end of January.
As I have mentioned before, for me Merida has stopped me from thinking thinking thinking about food which is all I used to do when I was "dieting" I am in a combination program, Merida, group headed by psychologist, dietician and of course doctor who is an endricronologist.
Just a quick question. Since starting Meridia last week, I've had trouble being pleasant with others and my mood is depressed. Has anyone of you heard of Meridia causing problems with depression or have you had any problems with depression after starting Meridia?
On the flip side, my appetite is greatly diminished. I feel certain that I will lose weight with this med, and I'm willing to tolerate the mood problems for the month just to see if the two are related. Here hoping that I just have some temporary holiday blues. Thanks in advance.
Hello everyone
(especially Nik!) Haven't seen nor heard from me in awhile... well, the wedding is over, the new job is going well, so I finally feel like I am at a stable point in my life to get started on Meridia again.
Last time, I had lost 14 pounds, I have put back on 5 of that.
So, here goes! I am making weight/fat loss my priority for 2002, and plan for Meridia to help me towards my 40 pound weight loss.
I will also check in on these boards to help boost my motivation.
Good luck to you all.
