Default experimenting with counting bites

Good afternoon everyone. I'd like to share what I will be doing for the next few weeks to lose weight in an effort to get feedback on my plan and hopefully let others know how I succeeded (if and when that happens)The plan is simple.

3 meals per day
10 bites of food per meal
no snacks
no calories from liquids

Other than the above I will not be changing anything. I currently am mostly sedentary as I work in an office. I may be adding a little exercise in the next few days but have yet to find something that appeals to me. For what it's worth I am 33 yo Male 6-2 296 lbs

Hi.... how is your plan going?

I will join you, I will start today on this method..starting at 70 bites. I weigh daily, and heard about this method but not much success stories from it. Hoping this will work.

Let us post here on our efforts.. I will be posting daily here to see how we are doing.

Is anyone still doing this? I just started with 5 bites yesterday and was down 2# this morning. Would love to hear about other's journeys with this and give support.

Hello
I have lost 8# since I started last Monday, but know that it is pretty much water weight; but, hey, I'll take it.
I am going to continue but up my bite numbers.
Liliann, glad you are going to do this, too. Hope we can support each other.
Have a great day.

Default Trying this out starting today

I just heard of this type of diet. Some call it the 5 bite diet and others use the 80 bites diet plan. I have a feeling I'm way overeating, so I'm going to count today and not go over 80 bites. If I'm eating less than 80 bites, then I'll adjust accordingly. I'm also implementing waiting one minute between bites. Seeing as how our stomachs are made to only hold around 32 ounces of food/liquid at a time, by waiting, I should fill up faster without stretching my stomach without feeling overly hungry. I'm also trying to make healthier decisions, so I'm trying to make sure I eat or drink (in a juice or smoothie) some veggies every day, but not restrict anything else I want to eat. I'll try to post my results here for anyone else who finds this thread.

I'm not sure I would try something like this, I think there's too much room for error. Are you eating bites of candy bars? Or bites of kale? Food quality is much more important to weight loss and good health.

Default Do your research

I would suggest if someone is thinking about doing a type of way of eating like the 5 bite diet/80 bites to do your research. Use common sense. This is not an excuse to eat 5 bites of a candy bar and have that be all you eat that day or a majority of what you eat that day. Make sure you get some protein and plenty of veggies in. This is not an excuse for starvation. This way of eating is for people who have problems with eating too fast, eating too much in one sitting, and eating out of control portion sizes. The point of this way of eating is, for the first few days, to track how many bites of food you're eating a day. A "bite" is different for each person, but a good way to measure it is one spoonful of food equals one bite. Some people measure it out to one tablespoon. I don't think people should go around eating out of a tablespoon measuring spoon, but I can see how some people may want to do that the first day or two (at home) to get familiar with how big your bites are and count them accordingly. Make sure to thoroughly chew your food and enjoy the taste. Set your silverware down between bites and rest or talk. I wait 30 seconds to a full minute between bites, but I don't sit there with a timer to time it. Again, for me, it's common sense. Don't rush it, take time between bites, eat slowly. Do your research, don't just listen to people who haven't read up on this who say "that doesn't sound healthy". It's as healthy as you make it for yourself. I'm not really sure who thinks people come onto a weight loss forum who are just going to eat candy bars all day instead of being interested in learning how to eat in a healthy, balanced way.

Default Day 5

Day 5 of the 80 bites (or less) plan. I have the app on my phone now which is much more convenient to track bites than tick marks on a piece of paper. I've aimed for 20-25 bites or less per meal and a snack per day. I went over on the second day because I made my first day too restrictive. I haven't weighed myself yet, but I can tell in my face and in my clothes that I've lost a little weight. I've been really surprised at how relatively easy it's been to maintain not overeating, even though I'm currently having AF.

There will always be some people who will manipulate diet plans to support their bad food habits, and cross their fingers hoping it will work. We see it time and time again. That's even one of the criticisms of the old Weight Watchers plan, that some dieters would spend their points on candy bars. Weight Watchers now allows unlimited vegetables, and other ways of making encouraging their followers to get plenty of nutrients.

More studies are turning up that support quality over quantity, as a means of improving health and preventing heart disease, cancer, dementia, etc. My point was that what you eat is more important at the end of the day, as well as for the rest of your life

You realize this isn't healthy and is disordered eating, right?

Long term changes to the quality of food you put into your body is the permanent solution.

This diet works! I lose about a pound a day though because i modified it. I love breakfast. Therefore I eat 5 bites for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I also decided to try eating fresh fruits and veggies in between meals. And guess what? I still keep losing a pound a day! I take some special supplements plus a green food product from Dr. Richard Schulze. It's called "Superfood". I have lost a total of 34 pounds. The first nine was from a different diet. I have NEVER lost this much weight in my life at one try (since the fall of 2016). I usually give up even when I'm doing well...so dumb! Anyway, I have been trying to get baby weight off for 23 years folks! I also have Hashimoto's Hypothyroidism. I've read Thyroid forums and I read post after post and the women (mostly women because this is an illness that hits mostly women)...that they can hardly lose any weight. I feel for them. And doctors especially tell us we'll never be normal again (if we've become obese and this has happened to me!). I'm here to tell you all whether a Hashimoto patient or not that this plan for the 5 Bite Diet Works! Don't waste anymore time! Start today! But I would check with your doctor as I feel I have to say that to cover myself. Sometimes I want to cry for joy. I've been searching for soooo long! Good luck and don't give up! It's fun to check the scale every day!
