Default How much protein?

Not only am I wanting to lose a 40 pounds, I also want to get toned and shape up my body as well.

I'm not sure how many grams of protein I should consume though, I currently weigh 153 pounds, if that helps.

The USDA minimum requirement of protein for an adult is .8 gm/kg of weight. If you weighed 100 lbs, you'd need at least 36 gm of protein if you had a sedentary lifestyle, and up to 80 gm of protein if you were training hard. You would need to feed yourself so that your muscles don't cannibalize your other organs.
