April Booty Camp Thread #1

Well the weather's warmer and I am going to give it the college try again this month and get off my butt and back to the gym...still journaling my food so there are no gains, but no losses either...thinking about doing a Body for Life type of regimen and see what happens...however I will stick to our thread and my friends here since I couldn't bear to be away from you all for very long....

Love to all!!! :grouphug: Smoochies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cafe976 03-31-2003 05:58 PM

Sunshine and smaller clothes, here we come!

huntress 04-01-2003 05:57 AM

Morning Ladies,

I have been on hiatus lately. Spent most of the weekend helping my daughter move and cleaning house. Must be Spring! I always feel so good at this time of year and want to get my house cleaned.

I'm with you DNW, ready to get my butt moving. The 1 year anniversary is coming up at the end of this month and I want it to be positive. The weather here is pretty nice for the most part and there's no reason for me not to get outside (except for all the pollen, sniffing and sneezing).

Not doing so well on Atkins, I love fruit too much but I did decide to watch my carb intake and stay away from white anything. So far so good. I've gotten back into my water habit which is also good.

How's everybody else feeling these days about getting back into their plans? I know that SEMO and brighterdays have been working hard.

Sure do wish that Tiffany, Dyan and anyone else who's missing would come back.

OK, I've rambled long enough, talk to you all later.

Tigerlily 04-01-2003 07:50 AM

Hi! Any April Fools out there?
I got my youngest son this morning...fork in the cereal gag. Then I did "untied shoe" on my oldest. I need to think of a good one to get DH. I'm sure he is on guard. :s:

Huntress, did you start out following Atkins exactly? I just read an article on Atkins in Vouge. I don't usually buy Vouge, but I'm a sucker for diet titles. This one had "Losing It. True Tales of Atkins, Ornish and Weight Watchers". I need a smilie with SUCKER stamped on the forehead.
I know I'm a carb junkie and Atkins might be a good thing for me to try...at least to get the carbs out of my system.

I've been a busy worker-bee the last couple of days. Took all the shades and curtains down. Spring Clean Fever! Need to haul the ladder out today, clean the skylights. Hope this phase lasts awhile! :smoking:

Water bottle in hand, off to shower before the Culligan man gets here. :o

Jello 04-01-2003 08:26 AM

Yikes! I've gained 20 pounds over the past month!!!! :(

APRIL FOOLS!!!! (Thank God.)

Yeah, that was lame, I know. It's early.

Ah, but my mamma din't raise no fools so I'm going to start again. I'm going to leave here and do some calculating and decide what I can reasonably and realistically do on the April exercise challenge. And it's time for Jello to get back on the old wagon too. The next few days are going to be rough - too many social things and personal challenges but I hope to be back on track by Friday. Is it OK if I opt for the "slow-start" method?

Tiger, you  !! You're one of those "tricky" folks, aren't you? Ooh but it sounds like you're also a bundle of energy lately. Want to come and take down my shades and curtains too? OK then how 'bout just sending some of your energy!

Huntress, you too! I keep swearing I'm going to get into this spring cleaning this year. Hm, that is if spring ever gets here! We had snow again yesterday! Grumble.

Well, I'm off to calculate how much time I'm going to spend exercising for the next 30 days. :D Then I'll see all you guys over on that thread!!!

Right.....???

Cafe976 04-01-2003 09:44 AM

Well, gals, I went to a fight last night and a hockey game broke out. It was pretty cool, I was with a group in the executive suite. There were too many beers and all kinds of "game" food kept warm in silver chafing dishes, though. And brownies shaped like hockey pucks with the team emblem on a white chocolate medallion on top. :o

So am I an April fool? I hope so!! My DH is at the gym this morning, he's been motivated by our houseguest - an old friend who has been working out and doing a BFL sort of thing and has lost 35 lbs. He looks great. Now mind you, DH does not need to lose any weight, but Mr. "my gym is the great outdoors" hasn't been running much since he started school in the fall of '01. So that's cool because we could go to the gym together, just need to get started... and maybe pumping a little iron with his buddy will get him in the mindset and we can do it together.

Meanwhile, I woke up early for breakfast and I'm drinking my water... Thinking about summer when I won't want to be wearing these sweaters.

Ciao for now!

SEMO 04-01-2003 10:01 AM

Hello Girlies!

I am so very happy that our Ya Ya Sisters are getting back to Normal.....if you can call any of us NORMAL!:D

Jello, glad that you posted on the exercise thread and that's about where I started. Now you're comitted and you have to finish! ;)

Okay all this talk about Atkins, well I've been doing a version of it for about 2-3 weeks and it is working. Altho, I still have trouble eating the fat, well not trouble, but having had low fat drilled into my head for so long it's hard to feel good about eating it. So I eat lean, baked, grilled or boiled protein and any carbs are whole grain, no sugar or very low carb veggies. It's got the scale moving downward but not quickly, (my fat has been with me for so long it wants to stay). I have found some really good recipes and that has been the reason for my success so far.

Got my hubby with the April Fool joke this morning, he was half way to work and I called and said that my car wouldn't start and he would have to come back. heehee Well, I had to prepare him for his office buddies, cause they were sure to get him if I hadn't.

I'm way too busy to be here chatting so I've got to run. Have a terrific day.

huntress 04-01-2003 11:01 AM

Tigerlily - Yes, the first 4 days I did the plan to the letter. I can honestly say that it has helped me cut out the white junk for the most part. I simply want more variety of veggies and I crave fruit. Don't know how many carbs I'm eating but it has to be better than before considering I was eating cinnamon rolls for breakfast, etc. etc.

SEMO - Is it the same for you? I do like the bars and since I bought several boxes of them I am still using them as meal replacements or when I crave something sweet.

Gotta, talk to you ladies later.

LJ

DNW 04-01-2003 03:50 PM

Hi All:

Glad to see veryone at the new thread. I am trying for several small meals per day on the advice of a friend of my husband's who a "gym rat". Rich is going to sort of help me train to get back into the weight lifting mode and work up a meal plan for me that works. Right now I have a general idea, but he will define it further since he, as a lifetime weight lifter knows how to eat to burn the fat, it's not so complicated...but it is going to be very hard to eat 5-6 small meals a day, but he swear it keeps your metabolism furnace cooking therefore helping you to lose faster and more. It is much like Body for Life.

I am glad we are all getting back to basics....the winter was hard on all of us...let's make our Spring Loss goal reasonable and doable...that's what I am trying for.

Jello 04-01-2003 04:05 PM

I'm almost done. I may actually get out of here on time tonight. Then it's down to Delaware Park where I can stay as late as I want because ...

... I HAVE OFF TOMORROW!!!! :p Just 'cuz!

Hope you all have a great day! I shall miss you. Behave and ... oh the heck with it. Don't bother to behave. That's no fun at all, is it?

Talk to you all on Thursday.

huntress 04-02-2003 05:31 AM

Jello - Yipee! Enjoy your day off! I can't believe it's April already and you're still having snow. Is this normal?

Brighterdays - Congratulations! 14 #'s is fantastic, I bet you'll be at goal in no time.

DNW - The winter was definately hard for me but I'm feeling good now even though it's been a little chilly here. My main goal for April is to lose the 4-5 #'s I've put on the last few months.

Cafe - Sounds like the hockey game was fun and I know you didn't drink any of those beers! :s:

Tigerlily - So what did that article say exactly? Hey, don't feel lonesome I swear I think I've fallen for every new diet out there. Even now when I know that the only thing that's going to work for me is moderation I fall for it. Anyway like I said it did help me get a jump start of sorts.

SEMO - Normal? Me? Never!

So I went to the store yesterday, was craving strawberries big time and wouldn't you know it........they were dark and rotting. I wonder seriously if they think people are going to buy those things just because they have them on sale. Geez! I ended up buying a pineapple and some bananas, what a dissapointment. Oh well, my sister tells me there are places not too far out of the city where you can go and pick your own! I'm going to try to go this weekend.

Sometimes I wish I'd been better during the winter because I have 4 pairs of shorts in a size 14 that I can't wear. I probably need to lose another 30 #'s to get them on, maybe by the end of summer I can wear them. Then again our weather stays warm enough that you can almost wear shorts year round.

Have a good day ladies............

Lajuna

Tigerlily 04-02-2003 08:52 AM

Hi All! Sun is shine'n, windows open already this morning. :D
I have an eye doc appt today, but think I'm going to cancel. It's just too nice out and suppose to rain tomorrow.

Huntress, the Vogue article wasn't that great. The authur actually tried Atkins for 7wks and lost some weight. He did talk about why it works and that opened my eyes a little.
I haven't read about the other diets yet. I only read while I'm wait'n in the pick-up line for kindergarten.

Gonna get busy. My parents might stop over this evening. Need to get my curtains hung back up and find my DS's bedroom floor. I know it's under there somewhere. :o

brighterdays 04-02-2003 09:28 AM

Hi all,

Just stopping by to read and will be back later. Happy spring!

"Bright"

Cafe976 04-02-2003 09:51 AM

Hey, gals!

Well my happy houseguest goes home tomorrow morning! :s: Not saying any more!

Huntress - who are you kidding... me? Beers?? OK, well at least I stuck to Amstel Light. (not bad and lowish carbs - though not low like that new Mic Ultra they're advertising.) Strawberry pickn' sounds divine! It's 40's, cloudy and windy here today. I sort of like a little bluster in the weather like that.

Tiger - I like this reading programme of yours - you do the research, we benefit! BTW, I don't think you're a sucker.

Jello - Enjoy your day off!

SEMO - I like the sound of this low-carbish thing. I know it is something that has worked for me in the past too... Just have to have the right stuff with you.

DNW- "the gym rat diet" LOL! I like the sound of that.

Bright- I think I missed a post of yours - I'll have to check the other thread. But congrats on your losses!

Quilter...

And Dyan, Tiffany, Kayla, anyone who may be lurking... Come on in!

Tigerlily 04-03-2003 06:21 AM

Hi Girls!
I tell ya, nothing like having company to get my :censored: in gear cleaning. I need to have company more often. (no houseguest tho) You'd think since I stay at home, the house would always be clean. Quite the opposite....cuz the evil mess makers are home too!

It was rough seeing the parents. My Mom's eyes look terrible. I imagine she's doing a lot of crying and little sleep. My Dad, although hairless, didn't look as bad as I'd feared. He's still holding strong, the doctors say he's doing great.

Jello, how was your well earned day off? Lots of warm weather exercise? :cb:

I have some yard work planned for today...before :rain:. Bend, lift, rake, keep that body move'n.....

Jello 04-03-2003 08:51 AM

Picture it. Sunshine. Light breezes. About 70 degrees. And not having to go to work!! Aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! :D We cleaned up the back yard literally all day long. But it was so beautiful out and I got lots of exercise and fresh air. Felt so much better than being here, that's for sure.

Tuesday night, we went down to Delaware Park for a "must be present to win" drawing. Grand prize was $15,000. Picture it. A million people in a room the size of a glorified phone booth. It was horrible. I'm not normally the claustrophobic (agoraphobic? whatever.) type but it was starting to freak me out. :stress: I understand how people get crushed and trampled in crowds like that. Never again!!! By the time they got to some of the "smaller" $1000 prizes, people were trying to make their way out saying they didn't care if their names were called because even a thousand dollars wasn't worth this.

After the drawing, this wall of people just started towards the door. We found a corner to sort of hide in until the place cleared out somewhat. But it never happened. Even after literally 3/4 of the people pushed their way out, it was still so crowded we couldn't get any machines, etc. We finally left in disgust around 8:30. So much for our late night out.

But it all ends well, I suppose. We were able to get up early yesterday morning, go out for a nice breakfast, work in the yard for a while, go out for lunch at this great mexican place that's usually so crowded we can't get in, do some more work around the house.... Well you get the idea. I hereby declare that when I'm president, I will make it a law that all companies must have 4-day work weeks: Mon, Tue, Thur and Fri. Wednesday should be a mid-week day off, every week. :queen:

OK enough rambling. I have to go get caught up on all the work that seems to have migrated from the boss's desk to mine. :chin:

Tiger, it's usually harder on the family than it is on the patient, isn't it? Glad your dad's doing so well though. It's normal for your mom (and YOU) to be worried. I'm keeping all of you in my prayers.

Gotta run. Later.

Tigerlily 04-03-2003 09:10 AM

Hello?! Come on girls...we can do better than this. Especially if we are going to get our rears in gear like Semo.;) DNW?where are you hide'n these days Sarge?

I'm giving Atkins some serious thought. I searched out some other websites and did some reading. I might pick the book up today if it doesnt cost an arm.
I actually think DH could deal better with Atkins WOE. He gets freaky when I buy low-fat foods or thinks I'm fixing something "diet". Heaven forbid he should eat anything healthy.
Me, I want to eat healthy. I just need someone to shop for me and then fix it! lol

Jello, thank you for the prayers.

Off to town...

SEMO 04-03-2003 09:36 AM

Hi girls, just a quick stop to say howdy. Tomorrow is day 60 and only 30 more to go to finish this round. DH said this morning, (interupting in the middle of my 200 ab tape) you're gonna have a heart attack! With my face all red, I told him that if I do would he mind putting a cut off shirt on me so everyone can see how tight my mid section was getting! His response was guess you want your calfs to show too! I am indeed seeing some results but no flat tummy, probably never see that. Oh well I can dream. I up my weights last night, don't laugh cause the tape is really HARD, but I pretty much use the 8 pounders all the way through. So today, I am really hurting, sore everywhere.

Well better get back to the salt mines, Tig ~ thinking and praying for you and family! Quilter, DNW, you guys are being way too quiet. Hey to everyone else, gotta scoot.

Have a lovely day!

Cafe976 04-03-2003 11:12 AM

Goooooood Morning!

My houseguest is flying away - probably in Denver by now changing planes. Going back to sunny so. CA while it's 35 and rainy here. Maybe he's as glad as me, LOL!!

Anyhow, the dinner grand finale went well last night. I was proud that I pulled it off after being at work until 4:15 (yes, I left a LITTLE early). So it's all good.

Now, marching on with life! I'm feeling a little skip of freedom, and my house is WAY cleaner than a week ago! It's quite nice really. Should (as Tig said) have company more often. It's a good thing. Dear L. and DH reupholstered our dining chairs yesterday as a surprise. I can't tell you how nice it is - they had worn down and were very HARD. They picked good materials and did a very professional job- I'm loving it. And I love the fabric they chose.

So, just enjoying the contentment this A.M. while knowing it's time to move on to what's next.

Tig, the yardwork sounds lovely! I'm happy that you got to spend some QT with your folks. I'm sure that it was soothing for all of you.

Jello, more yard stories, starting to get jealous. It's great to have a day that's "stolen" isn't it? Because everyone else is out on the weekend too, it is especially great to experience a weekday off.

SEMO - Day 60!! Woo-hoo! I'm so proud of you! Hang in there, you might see that flat tummy yet, if you can continue to apply yourself with THAT kind of dedication. You are awesome.

Ciao for now, bellas!

Tigerlily 04-03-2003 01:01 PM

:bravo: SEMO!
I can't imagine doing anything for 60 days..except maybe breath.
I did used to go to the gym...almost 6 years ago. I went almost every day. I could jog 3 miles and wore a happy size 12. Now, I can't jog a block and I'm busting out of a unhappy size :censored: .

Time for reflection and reality check.:chin:

I went to Walmart...can ya believe they didnt have Atkins book?! What a crock. I'll probably have to go to town tomorrow, maybe I can swing by Kmart. I did buy some self-tanning lotion...hope I get a healthy glow and not a streaked orange.

later girls!

DNW 04-03-2003 04:47 PM

sORRY i hAVEN'T haD mORE TO sAY....

My ladies they are working me to death here and the keyboard on the computer at home is broken...

Tiger: You are very brave and this is a very difficult time you are going through...keep praying for acceptance and stay hopeful...I have your dad always in my prayers.

Cafe: Anyone who will reupholster chairs when visiting is tops in my book!!! Ask them back maybe they'll do the couch the next time!!

Semo: You little exercising fiend you...I am very jealous you have so much more motivation than I do right now...gotta walk tomorrow morning.

Jello: Please run for president soon because I want a 4 day work week..they are killing me here in my office lately...thank God they are reasonably nice people or I would murder them!!

Huntress: 4-5 lbs a month is so doable and in a year that's 60 lbs....I'll take it!! Good luck I know you can do it.

Bright and Quilter: A big :grouphug: to you both too!!

Tiffany, Kayla, Holly: where are you!!!!!!!!!:drill:

Jello 04-04-2003 08:34 AM

Went home from work last night and decided to get on my treadmill. Got my portable CD player and plugged in .... now don't laugh ... Barry Manilow. Yeah, yeah. The guy my older brother used to teasingly call Barry Mellow-Fellow. But you know, the guy can rock!! 35 minutes later, I glanced down to see I'd done a mile and a half or so and wanted to keep going!! :cb: :cb:

Tiger, not doing anything for 60 days except breathe!! Too funny!!

Cafe, it's a nice feeling when the house is clean, isn't it? My problem has always been keeping it that way. Ah, there's the challenge!

DNW, sorry they're trying to kill you at work. :( It is a good thing though that you like the people you work for and with. I need more of that where I work.

Speaking of that, I've adopted a new "laugh instead of cry" attitude lately and am feeling much better. I'm not going to let anyone ruin my good mood, not matter how hard they try. And brother do they try!!! :p I've even found myself mentally counting to 10 (sometimes 20!) before responding to one of them.

Semo, 8-pounders!?!?!? I can't even LIFT the 8-pounders at the sporting goods store!!!!!

Guess I'll get to work now. TGIF!!! :D Yesterday felt like a Monday all day, I guess because of my day off Wednesday. So glad it wasn't! Well, I'm off to report in at the exercise thread!

Tigerlily 04-04-2003 09:22 AM

I'm not streaked orange, but my palms are a nice bronze color. Good thing I have them in 'n out of water all day...be back to normal in no time.:smug:

I was going to order Atkins online, but got confused...there are several.:?: While I was there, I came across another book. The Schwarzbein Principe. I already own it. :^: So, I'm just gonna read it again...maybe I'll be more receptive to it this time given my current thought process. :dizzy:

Jello! Way to go with the exercise. And about Barry...well, anything that gets ya moving!

DNW, a broken keyboard :fr: We have a generic spare for just that thing. DH saved it when he upgraded to a new one with all kinds of silly buttons and gizmos that I dont understand.

It's Friday! This weekend is tape 'n mud drywall. My job is to provide support, food and entertainment.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! :df:

SEMO 04-04-2003 09:36 AM

Good Morning and Happy Friday....... Love that little fella.
TODAY IS MY DAY, SIXTY.....

Jello, My vision of you and Barry :dancer: I'm very proud of you, and as an added bonus exercise is very good for you mentally. Yeap, I can tell that you are in a good mood. UNLESS, there's something else going on that you're not telling us about.:tape: :ziplip:

DNW, what's all the extra work about???? I'm getting hammered too, but it's normal for us this time of the year, runs about 6 months then slacks off. Can't complain, I need the overtime.

Tig, I found this website you may want to check. lowcarbfriends.com keep breathing, keep breathing. :D

Cafe, if your houseguest isn't too picky about what he eats (you know how I hate to cook), just send him my way. Can't believe they did that, how great.

Alright now Quilter, I'm starting to get worried. After you posted your nice words of wisdom, you vanished...... You aren't dumping us, are you?

Bright, Hoping that the wind hasn't blown you away, you know cause you're so much LIGHTER! Way to go!

Huntress, hang a pair of those shorts out so you see them everyday. Helps with motivation, sort of like the yogurt commerical where the gal looks at the bikini, and then ONE DAY SHE COULD WEAR IT!

I'm back to work, I have mounds and mounds of work to do.

(((hugs to all))) and hey to anyone that I may have missed.

:dancer:

Cafe976 04-04-2003 10:29 AM

Happy Friday, peeps! I'm sure looking forward to a weekend off! One way or another, don't you always feel "ON" when you have guests? But it's an upbeat WOL at the same time, no time to get whiny when you're focused on others.

My goals for this weekend: Clean my house again even though it isn't really dirty yet. If I can discipline myself to do this, it will always be enjoyable AND easy to spiff up. Tame the monster that is my poor unbalanced checkbook. This is overdue. Take time for myself, time for God, and get organized and ready for what promises to be a busy month starting Monday. AND, put my gym bag together because it's time to try to be like SEMO.

None of this is so hard -except maybe the checkbook :dizzy: so I'm going to write the list in my planner right now.

First of all though, Tiger - hope the taping goes well! My DH is in school right now to escape a career in drywall finishing so I know how this is... Make some time for fun, and remember that once it's done, the whole remodel is almost over! It's just paint, trim, floor and then decorating. This will help you deal with the dust.

DNW & SEMO, I'd send the guest along to you but he had to go back to work. :( It's amazing the impact that a small project can have on how you feel about an area of your house. :) Let that be a lesson to me. I made do with those chairs for YEARS - now they are a joy!

Jello - If Barry Manilow makes you happy, more power to ya! Nothing wrong with that. YES! I want to 'laugh not cry' too. It's my post-vacation attitude - nothing bothers me - because if it does I stop and deal with the feelings, not let them build up. Just because they CAN piss me off daily doesn't mean I have to let them. By dealing with each incident separately, I can overcome and be my positive, happy self. Screw 'em, I'm going to be happy in spite of their negativity. :D

OK, I'm out~

Edited to add: Hmm, SEMO, what COULD be the reason why Jello is so... happy? :s:

Jello 04-04-2003 12:53 PM

Heeeeeyyyy!! You guys, cut it out!! What d'ya mean!?!? Don't pick on meeeee!!! Mmmmmoooooommmmmm!!!!!! :p

I tell you guys EVERYTHING!!! No deep dark secrets in little Jello's world, I swear.

Well, there was that 2AM wandering the neighborhood in my jammies thing.... Wait! I told you that too! Yeah, I was looking for the dog. Yeah, that's it! The dog!! :s:

Actually, I'm not sure why I'm feeling so darn happy these days. But I'm sure as heck not going to frighten it away. :sssh:

It's probably the weather. Well, not today cuz it's cold and gray and rainy. But I mean maybe it's because the spring might actually be arriving here in my little corner of PA. Winter's fighting to stay that's for sure but I think (and my little sprouting bulbs think so too) that spring will win eventually. And although I'm not nearly as short-shorts and cut-off tops skinny as I thought I'd be by now, I'm happy about it.

Now everybody dance! :cb: :cb: :cb:

Just learned today that the frenchmen are coming back for a visit next week. They emailed me to make them hotel reservations, etc. So when I emailed them back with details, confirmation numbers, etc, I sent a copy email to my boss and the president of the company. What an uproar. Apparently, no one had told THEM that the frenchmen were coming!! :yikes: Hm, I guess the frenchmen don't realize that I'm just a little peon around here. Good thing I cc'd them or I'D be entertaining the french next week.

Nah, I just want to hang out here in my little corner and watch the little birdies and waving little flowers out the window....

La, la, la, la, la-de-dah.....
(Sounds of Jello goin' off the deep end.)

Hey, it's Friday. :^:

Cafe976 04-04-2003 02:35 PM

Yep, it's official... Jello's got spring fever! ;)

Heck, me too, even though it's SNOWING in the frozen North. (argh) Last night the victorian wood stairs on our front porch got glazed with ice. Yep, you guessed it, I came out at 7pm and my feet flew out from under me. In spite of trying to grab the handrail (yep, more ice) I impacted the stairs with my back and bounced down them all flat on it.

Can I have an ouch?

I was really thinking my back would be sore - or my neck which felt a little whiplashed - but what really hurts today is my tailbone. I guess I must have hit that too. I don't remember anything but my back hitting the stairs. But I have to say - sitting is not so bad but getting UP - that really hurts.

Excuse me, Mr. Boss-man? Uhm, I'd like to leave 3 hours early on a Friday because my a$$ hurts.

brighterdays 04-05-2003 01:17 AM

Hey all,

Cafe: that had to have hurt! sorry you hit your bum! gotta be sore! I'm doing the housework shuffle this weekend, also, along with many errands tomorrow morning. It seems the sidewalks roll up and are put away for the weekend sometime on Sat. at noon in this town! Boy, do I miss the city when that happens!

Sarge: know what you mean on the work! Piling up in my office!

Jello: lets' dance :cb: :cb: :cb: (let's call it "circuit training", ok?)

SEMO: you are my inspiration! I packed my gym bag in tribute to you....it will have to stay by my door, however, until my work interferences next week allow me to cont. with my workouts. Meanwhile, people (that will remain unmentionable) cont. to kick my butt out there will their motivation and persistence! I will catch up to you..... Kudos to you for sticking with this so long! Only 30 more days to go and I know you'll make it!

Tiger: I have orange palms at least once a year! My sis is talking me into a tanning package this year....first timer, I am, so a little hesitant. Never have indulged in any sort of luxury for myself before. Might be kinda fun!:^:

Howdy down there, Huntress! Got rain? We are windy and rainy tonight and I thought it might have blown from your way. Hope all is well...

Hello to everyone I missed. Getting tired and need to rest....talk to you all later in the weekend.

"Bright"

Jello 04-07-2003 08:34 AM

Cafe, ouch! :( Hope you're feeling better now.

Well guess what. It's snowing here. And we're supposed to get 3-6 inches followed by sleet and freezing rain. The weatherman said to expect a "winter storm". Uh, someone want to tell this bozo that it's NOT WINTER!!!! It's supposed to be SPRING!!! My poor little flowers.

Add to that - Jello's got a big ol' cold. I'm all stuffed up and want to die. What the heck am I doing at work? Well, we've got the frenchmen coming tomorrow and have to be prepared. It's very stressful considering how the American-French relations are these days. But this is business after all.

I will not stress eat. I will not stress eat. :stress: One good thing I guess is that I don't have much of an appetite. And I guess I'm supposed to drink plenty of fluids, right? That should help a little with getting the water in. See? I'm trying to look at the bright side. :^:

Meanwhile, I got no exercise whatsoever over the weekend. Anyone know anything about exercising with a bad cold? Should I try to "work through it" or should I wait until I get my strength back?

Guess I'll get some work done. Starting to snow a little harder already. Oh, Jello's not happy.....

Cafe976 04-07-2003 10:12 AM

Happy Monday!

Bright - the housework shuffle - I like that. Know what you mean, I'm a city girl. But the charm of not having a million strangers outside your door must be okay too?

Jello - we're due for a little snow too, but not 3-6. I'm sorry. A little light exercise can help with a cold because it gets the lymph (part of the immune system) moving a bit more freely and warms the body. If I'm home sick with a cold I try to do load after load of laundry so that I'm in motion throughout the day (especially with the folding and putting away which I always try to do FAST). A nice walk or treadmill session would be great, just don't overdo it and DON'T get chilled afterward.

I did everything on my list this weekend... Plus some supplemental furniture rearranging and minus the paperwork which I need to do tonight. My DH was working and I need to find out where he stashed all our mail when we had company.

DH is really in the doghouse, though, because he threw away some things that were important to me. Mind you, if I MOVE something of his he has a childish fit if he can't find it immediately. Men! Still, what I despise more is the "play dumb" tactic. One of these days he is going to learn that the "I didn't know" lie doesn't work - and that the lie itself that REALLY sends me through the roof. Because you know that I can prove that he did know. Do they ever learn? Can anyone tell me?

Okay, I'm going to hit post and look for SEMO who always types while I'm typing.

SEMO 04-07-2003 10:48 AM

Good morning and a Bright and early morning! Day Light Savings time, ugh........ I'm tried already.

Cafe, ya beat me this morning, having some puter trouble this morning, and wouldn't you know that after 30 min, I call the help desk and it starts right up while I'm on the phone with them. I know they think I'm a morion! :o

Jello, Cafe, I really feel bad for you guys, more snow! Jello, hope you get to feeling better and SOON. Cafe, how's the bootie this morning?

How was everyone's weekend? I worked Saturday and then it rains all day yesterday, so I should have a good Monday. I was a slug yesterday, I did exercise, but little else. My house is up side down and ironing out the wazoo. (yes I still iron, everything!)

Hey to everyone, gotta run for now.

Cafe976 04-07-2003 12:25 PM

LOL, SEMO, I think it's okay although wouldn't you know my chair at work is more painful than my soft couch.

Know what you mean about the Help-Less Desk. If they're not making a fool of you, they're utter morons themselves. It's a bad deal all the way around.

Well I have the incentive I needed to begin anew. Today pics of last week's hockey game went around on an email. :fr: OK, it's time. Gotta get used to this daylight savings thing quick and back into my gym routine.

Tigerlily 04-07-2003 03:53 PM

Hello Friends,
No sleep last night and feeling really tired today. First I thought the wind was gonna blow the shingles off the house, then the freezing rain started. It makes a terrible racket on the skylights. Then, DS had a bad dream...there's no sleeping after he crawls in the bed with us. Arms and legs flying. I don't know how the kid doesn't fall out of his own bed! :tired: I am going to bed early tonight! Nobody better get in my way.

Cafe, nothing like seeing the reality slap dab in the middle of a photo. Take the motivation and run!

We worked on drywall all weekend. I am so ready for this stage of the project to be finished. Painting, that's what I'm looking forward to.

I'm giving serious thought to starting Atkins. This week, it's gonna be planning and getting organized. I still need to pick up a copy of the book. I'm so pathetic, I need an exact list of what I can and cannot eat.:cheese:

Hope everyone is off to a good week and not working too hard!

SEMO 04-08-2003 09:37 AM

Good Morning to All. My easy Monday was short lived and back to the real world this morning. Boss was holding a lot of fertilizer tickets, which are now looking at me on my desk!

Nothing worth wild going on around here, DH has a birthday Thursday. Guess I'll treat him to dinner out and haven't come up with anything to buy him yet. Thinking about a billfold with $ in it. I just bought him a new remote control for the tv, wish I had held it until Thrusday. You know, it's was one for the satelite with all the bells and whistles! He dropped his old one, one to many times and had to tape it together and the volume wouldn't work, he had all the numbers worn off of it too. :D (He holds this thing very close to his heart!) Guess that's really more than you wanted to know about DH. Ha

Ok, so I'm going to get some work done. Bye for now.

Tigerlily 04-08-2003 12:40 PM

Hi!
Semo, my DH can't watch the tv unless the remote is IN HIS HAND. He has to know where it is at all times. men.

I bought Atkins for Life. I'm going to do it. Starting date is Monday April 14th. My initial goal is to do it for 30days...then see how I feel...progress, still have all my hair. I'll be counting the days with you guys...help keep me accountable. I will also weigh-in and measure Monday. ek!

Silly dog is ringing her bell to go outside. I shall be back later.
:df:

Cafe976 04-08-2003 12:40 PM

Morning, gals!

Now things are back to normal, with me running a bit later than SEMO.

Tig - sorry to hear bout the lack of sleep. Maybe you can sneak in a little nap today? Speaking of Atkins, I think I'd try anything right now to get a jump start.

Anyone think it would give us a little motivation to post our menus for a couple of days??? Yes, I can hear what you're thinking: we'd have to be OP for that! Exactly, LOL! Comments?

SEMO- Repeat after me, I like to be busy, I like to be busy... :)

Well I have to say that I had a nice salad for lunch yesterday... can't claim to have done quite as well with dinner... but I drank all my water and measured what I ate. I'm easing back into a full-blown plan.

Edited to add, Hey Tig! So you made the jump and got the book! I will be eager to hear the details of how the plan works for you. I'll help you be accountable if you help me!

Edited again to add, BTW I'M the one who likes the remote at my house. LOL!

Tigerlily 04-08-2003 05:15 PM

Poop! I'm reading the intro of my atkins book. I need a different atkins book first...the one with the four-phase program. The one I bought is more about maintaining. I will find the other book tomorrow, even if I have to order it online. *banging head on desk*

Cafe, I'm up for posting my food intake starting Monday.
Anyone else? We could try it for a few weeks, see if it gives us a boost.

off to fix supper...

Jello 04-09-2003 08:52 AM

Well, I left work Monday at 2:30 and drove home in the snow, ice and slush. Four-wheel drive! Yay! Got home around 3 and went to bed. Woke up for homemade chicken soup :T (guess I'll keep that Rich guy around ;) ) and went back to sleep. Got up Tuesday just long enough to call in sick. The heck with them!!! Spent all day yesterday in my jammies in bed with reruns of old Columbo episodes on TV. Thank God! I couldn't stand Montel and Jenny Jones and Sally Jesse all day long. Yikes!

Ah but today I figured I'd better get back here. Rained all day yesterday. Still raining today. Cold, gray.... Where the heck is spring!?!?!? But I'm feeling better. I heard that the frenchmen changed their schedule at the last minute and showed up yesterday morning instead of afternoon. So sorry to have missed that. Wondering if the boss is mad at me today. Probably. Well, the heck with him too. :p He'll be busy with them again today, I hope.

Like I said, spent yesteday in bed. No exercise but not much eating either. I tried to resist the "ah poor sick little me, I should treat myself" attitude. I also tried to remember the plenty of fluids (i.e. water) rule. Not really sure how I did.

Whew. Sorry for once again rambling on about myself. :sorry: I promise to be back later to talk with you guys more. But first, I have to go blow my nose (guess you didn't need to know that) and then dive into this pile of paperwork. There's a desk under here somewhere....

SEMO 04-09-2003 09:37 AM

My poor Jello, hope you can kick that cold and be feeling better by the end of the day. Any man that cooks is A OKAY in my book! (How sweet is that!)

Tig, there is an Atkins site that has alot of info about the induction and food listings. I can check the site if you don't find it, but anyway up at the top there are some tabs and one of them list the foods and stuff to get you started.

Cafe, Good Morning. You know I hate keeping a journal, but if everyone and I mean everyone else does it, then I will too. (just a little loop hole for me:) )

Okay, now I'm getting worried about DNW and Quilter. What's going on, What's wrong? You know you can come here and talk aout anything....... can we help with anything? IT CAN'T BE THAT YOU'RE TOO BUSY FOR US!

Huntress, you too, I need you guys! Bump one of the kids off the computer and jump in here.

Bright, did you drag out the winter coat again? I almost hate to complain because we have it better that Jello and Cafe, but It's a cold 37 degrees here and supposed to get colder. Need to cover my peach tree and rose bush tonight.

I'm taking off at noon, going shopping to find DH something for his birthday. I've decided to get the billfold and an ice cream cake. Need to pick up a couple of baby gifts that I'm behind on too.

Talk to you all tomorrow!

Cafe976 04-09-2003 10:52 AM

Good morning! It's hump day ~ In just a couple more hours, the work week is half over. I would like to elect Huntress to put on a Rockette-style halftime show for us.

I've been trying to ease into a plan without experiencing withdrawal and feeling deprivation. So I've been measuring, practising STOPPING eating, drinking my water... So so far so good. I went for a walk yesterday, so I'm officially ramping up.

Tig, Hope you find the info you want soon! I know how it feels to be thwarted just when you're excited to find out about something.

Actually, I was just thinking about a couple of days with regards to posting food. Not much of a commitment. I really don't like to journal either, but I do think it would get us thinking! Plus I get ideas when I see what other people eat to feel satisfied and stay in range.

If we try for next week to have a "menu" theme (whatever day(s) you can post it, or not...) that gives us all a couple of days to think about it... I guess if we loved it we could do it every so often and if not... not. Comments?

Jello, sorry about the spring cold! I have been trying so hard not to get one. But hopefully the worst is over. I like Columbo too, especially when you're that tired. :)

Semo... I was wondering the same thing, where is everybody? I think your DH will like the present...

Hey you! Lurking! I caught you. You don't have to get a new user ID to come back! You know who you are.
