OK Sarge! I'm in! Can I count the 2 lbs. I've lost in the past 4 or 5 days since I started my exercise kick? Pretty please. I need that "jump start". :^: That means I have 8 more lbs. to go before Memorial Day, right? Hm.... :chin: ....
CAN DO!!!!! :D Tiger, ooh Keebler cookies, eh? Don't do it! Stupid little :censored: elves! Huntress, I could never do the low carb thing. But eating less sugar and more fruit and veggies sounds like a perfectly healthy, good plan! DNW, I'm in for the challenge Sarge! Aye Aye! I thought of you this morning and heard your command in my head and I got on the treadmill. .... Ah well, I had to get out of bed to pee anyway. Girls, it's already 65 degrees out and supposed to go up to 80!! And then tomorrow, the high is supposed to be only around 45. Yeah Tiger, Mother Nature certainly does have quite the sense of humor. We've been invited to mom and dad's for Easter dinner on Sunday. Read that to say lots of food and dad's "famous" chocolate peanut butter eggs. And I've got to start rehearsing now .... ahem ... "No, thank you." ... yeah that should work. I hope. :stress: |
Keep your eyes on the prize!!!!!!!!!!!
Remember recruits....if you wait just 15 minutes your food cravings will go away.
Tig: Headaches are not a good thing and I got them while I was on Atkins too...try drinking more water...I wish you had picked another food plan but if this works for you go for it...I'm supporting you all the way...by the way Metamucil with Nutrasweet may help keep you full because of the fiber in it...and it tastes almost like Tang...much better than the regular Metamucil. Semo: You are my exercise and weight loss GODDESS. Walked again today for another 2 miles....I will never understand why I stop when while I am doing it I really feel great...and I love to hear those birdies sing in the quiet of the morning. Jello: Your two pounds definitely count and remember stay positive and if you must...have one chocolate peanut butter egg...but slice it up so it seems like more. Huntress: I know people in OA that lost alot of weight cutting back and/or eliminating sugars/white flour products. This could be the plan that works for you. I am drinking a sugarless protein drink, with Splenda, with half a banana and 2 cups of skim milk in the morning in lieu a muffin or toast and it holds me all the way to past lunchtime. At least I got the sugar and bread out of one meal for now. Cafe: You are right baby steps and a change in attitude is all we all need...and we have our dear Semo as the inspiration...her baby steps have turned in to a fabulous success that. Brighter: Sinus yucky...I know I am due for another one soon and I am trying desparately not to inhale the pollen when I walk in the morning...but then I have to breathe....ah well...I still will walk. Quilter: How are ya doin' kiddo???? Love to all.....and remember our troops and their sacrafice..:drill: |
OMG you guys are really making me feel like a worm. I have fallen but I'm getting back up! I have to make a confession, I've not exercised in about four days.... why, you ask? Well, I don't know, to tell you the truth, but I've been cleaning house (even shampooing carpets) like a wild woman. You know you just get to the point that you can't stand it any longer. When I exercise early in the mornings my house goes to pot and I don't like to exercise in the evenings, plus I'm putting in all this OT. (feeling sorry for me yet? Dang, I knew that you wouldn't) So anyway, I made up my mind that I'm hitting it tonight when I get home, guess I'll have to add four days to my ending date to feel that I have completed my commitment.
Well folks, gotta run (being the Exercising godess that I am!) You get it, run.....Oh well.:dizzy: Edited: Does godess have one d or two? Foggy brain today. |
Semo, 2 D's. DD - like my bra size.
Ooh, sorry. BAD joke. Actually, I just came in here to escape the call of the carrot cake with cream cheese frosting around the corner. Hm, carrot cake should count as a vegetable, don't you think? How 'bout if I promise to scrape off the frosting??? Yeah. Right. I'm TRYING to be good....... DNW, OK, I believe you. 14 minutes and 30 seconds to go...... |
Got my haircut and feeling snazzy.:spin:
Also finally found the actual Atkins Diet book. I've been reading his newest book and stuff on the net. Even got a free carb counter.:smug: Jello, I feel the same about zuccini cake. Ya put all that vegetable in there, it ought to count. I'm off to do laundry...the fun never ends. Soccer practice might get rained out this evening.:crossed: :s: |
TGIT!!!! :?: Well, it's sort of like Friday since we have off tomorrow. :)
Know how much exercise I got last night? None. Just didn't feel like it. Geez, hope this isn't the start of a new (bad) trend. :nono: Tiger, sounds good to me! I love a new haircut. In fact, it's amazing how even a "good hair day" can make you feel! :goodvibes: Well, I'm off now. I've got a major league headache. Took aspirin for it last night but it's still hanging on today. :( Took some "un-aspirin" this morning. Hope it goes away. I've got stuff to do, darnit! Only 9 hours until 5:00.... |
Drats! Soccer practice wasn't rained out. Instead, I sat out there in the cold/damp and woke up with a sore throat. :dz:
On the upside...or maybe I should say "downside"...I'm down to 193.5. Three pounds lost since starting Atkins. Aside from my late afternoon cravings, it's going good. I did have a wedge of potato last night with the porkroast out of the crockpot. Just a wedge.:sssh: I'm anxious to get my shower and see if I can work with this new hairstyle. It never looks the same when I do it. I buy the same hair products the stylist uses and try to pay attention to HOW she does it. ?? I must have to left hands. Any lefties? But first, eggs for breakfast! Hope everyone has a great day! :df: |
Good morning Ladies.
Jello, I'm so jealous, three day weekend! WooHoo for you. I don't know what, if anything we will do for Easter. Youngest son has to work and oldest & wife are not coming home until Mother's day weekend. Guess DH and I will eat a cheese burger. :( I'll probably cook a nice dinner tho. Tig, you are really taking off girlfriend. I better get in gear or you will past me up with flying colors. DNW: way to go on the walking, BTW I did get mine in after work yesterday, so I'm back on the train. Feels good and I have a clean house. ;) Dyamn, Keeping everthing crossed :crossed: for you, and sending :goodvibes your way. Quilter, now you are just going to have to take a break during the day and come visit. Okay....... Cafe, Huntress, Bright and all, Have a good day. |
Happy Thursday, girls.
I was out of the office yesterday... but I was a good girl. I even dragged DH out for a walk in the rain. DNW - I always wonder the same thing - I enjoy moving so much when I do it, where does the negative attitude of it being "work" come from??? Seems like there must be some other emotions I'm trying not to feel by not moving or something. Can't really veg out on a walk. Dear DNW, I hope I don't offend you or anyone else by saying this: Can we leave the war out of this? Simply in view of the fact that we all have different feelings on the subject and this isn't a forum to discuss them? If I feel this way, maybe others do and don't want to say so. Just so you know, I'm not upset with YOU, I just think it's better to leave that ground unplowed. Huntress - You do seem to do better with your own set of rules. :s: I think you're on the right track! How's it going with those late-afternoon munchies? Let us know what works so we can try it during our weaker times. Tiger - Victory over the Elves! :hyper: You are doing awesome - keep up the updates! I want to SEE the haircut. Jello - Headaches happen - but don't let that break your winning streak! Down 2, you are doing great. SEMO - Hmm, you have a challenge on your hands. How to balance BOTH exercise and home needs. I know you'll find a way to get it in balance - without giving up your exercise. Don't let a good habit slip out of your hands! This is for longer LIFE! Plus, I want to know you're out there ahead of me. OK well I've got work piled up here from yesterday that I've got to get a handle on. Sending it out to you... :goodvibes: |
Cafe: I hear you on the war stuff and I am definitely not offended. I guess I got caught up in it earlier in the month when a few of us touched on it. This forum is for "weight loss and and how to keep healthy" and issues that affect those efforts. You are right we should stay focused on that land leave the ground unplowed on the war...and I feel honored that you feel that comfortable enough with me to speak your mind to me....that's a sign of friendship that I appreciate!!

Hey, ladies...just finished reading all your posts and I want to join DNW and the rest of you in losing 10 pounds the next 6 weeks to honor our armed forces. So - by Memorial Day, 10 pounds off. Been slacking off on my food diary and that always spells T-R-O-U-B-L-E. Now that it's warmer, I just want more water and lighter food.
Saw my endo this week and he said I should try Atkins for a couple of months. I nearly fell off the exam table. He hates the WW points system and favors food exchange. Since I am insulin resistant (pre-diabetic) I have to limit carbs and Atkins is supposed to be good for it. He did tell me to forget the induction phase and "use some sense" whatever that means. I don't know if you all have Nature's Own bread in your area but they have a new Wheat that is low carb = only 7 grams of carbs per slice and it tastes great and is filling. I find the diet breads to be light on flavor and not very filling -- or is it all in my head. Looks like I'll be needing to find a Chair Aerobics tape quickly so I can get some exercise in...osteoarthritis has developed in my knee and I am hobbling around. Very painful right now. Between that and the pollen making my asthma worse, I'm a mess. But at least I'm alive and can take care of myself. The wild man is back from his latest foray and we are looking eagerly forward to the one next month. I don't get to post much when he is on the rampage. Are we all armed against those sneaky Easter bunnies and chicks...not to say the chocolate, jelly beans, and Cadbury Eggs? I might have to have a bag of popcorn to counteract them - low carb or not. |
EasterBunny!:fr:
I hope I am strong enough. I'm going into it with an attitude that it wont be a perfect day, but I am not going to go hog wild. Doable? I sure hope so! :strong: Be strong Ladies! Today, after I pick DS up from kindegarten, I'm gonna drag his butt to Goodwill. See if I can find some cheap "in between sizes" clothes. When I hit a size that makes me feel good, I am SOOO going on a shopping binge! Cafe, Singing in the rain! That's commitment! hIppItY hOppItY! |
Cadbury Eggs, Ya'll those are the most disgusting looking things I've ever seen......... I've never tasted one because I can't get passed the way they look....... Now don't get me wrong I love chocolate, but not when it looks like a raw egg. Nasty.
Forgot to mention that I did get my exercise in last night! 65 minutes. Quilter glad to see you, and hope that you start to feel better soon. The only exercise that I know for setting in a chair is the body flex, can't remember the ladies name. Think it's more of a breathing exercise. Cafe, forgot that you had the day off yesterday, and how did the special evening go? I have such a dull life that you have to share the fun. Back to work. Brain fog........:dizzy: |
DNW - You're the best. Thanks for understanding. It's an emotional time - and in a different way for each person. I sometimes have a hard time keeping quiet about virtually any opinion of mine, and... like you said, that's not why we're here so I'm keeping it zipped to respect everyone equally. Better not to tempt me, LOL! Thank you.
Quilter - Wow, thanks for the update about the eye-opening appt. I love that part about "use some sense, whatever that means." We have such a hard time doing that! But I will definitely be taking a look at spare carbs in my diet that can be cut out. Definitely, I have my anti-Easter-candy armor on. After paying the points for that impulse egg I'm steering clear of empty cals wasted on sugar. I think the challenge for me will be next week when the local department store's jelly beans when they go on clearance. They are... unusual but can't tempt me. (I need to go repeat that a couple of times.) Tig - you said the magic word... SHOPPING! SEMO - way to go last night on the exercise! FYI, my evening was pretty sedate but enjoyable. I attended a special service at my place of worship to commemorate the last supper and all that it represents (last night was the exact yearly anniversary of that event). After that, DH and I went out with a few friends to have a glass of wine and some appetizers. We were already dressed up, you know. It was really nice! And it was even better because during the rainy afternoon yesterday I was going over some bills and found out (much to my hilarity!) that we had double-paid our mortgage TWICE in the past year without realizing it. You know those "where did all the money go? And we haven't paid the mortgage yet!" moments??? LOL. All I can say is - wow! I don't need to pay this month, or even next month. And the times we thought we were paying late and sent an extra $30 - that went to principal, not down the toilet. LOL!! I still think it's funny, in a very, very good way. So, a good day. :) Boss! |
You know, I can resist the candy and cookies at Christmas time. (Well, most of them, if I really put my mind to it. ) And I just avoid all the "little" candy at Halloween. And I can fight it at Thanksgiving or Independence Day or whatever holiday....
BUT I LOVE  EASTER CANDY!!!!! Love love love love it.....!!!! Malted milk eggs. Chocolate peanut butter bunnies. Marshmallow peeps. Augh!!!!!! Help? :sorry: Changing the subject quickly... Quilter, does Nature's Own have a website? I think I've heard of them. :?: But there was a company somewhere in the midwest that used to do internet mail order. They were so good but I can't find them any more. Hm.... Semo, yeah, Cadbury Eggs look disgusting! Yeah, you're right! Gotta remember that! Oh heck, who am I kidding? I'd just close my eyes and dig in. Cafe, I forgot about your big day off too. :sorry: Sorry. 'my bad? How was it? A day off in mid-week. A big "date". Can't be bad. BTW Semo, your earlier post reminded me of an Easter I had a couple years ago. I was still married to Scumball (my ex's official name) and he had to work on Easter. So I went to the only open place I could find, a chinese restaurant, and got some take-out. I went home, closed the windows, locked the doors, put on my jammies, found a couple good old movies on TV and had a great holiday with just me. Still remember it. :) Hm, enough of my trip down memory lane, I guess. Time to finish up with my work. Boss is gone at a trade show most of next week so he's a madman (well, more so than usual) today. In case I don't get another chance.... HAPPY EASTER TO ALL OF YOU!!!!! |
