Good morning ladies. Waiting for my DD to drop off my Gs. I have to meet a friend to get a shower gift for Sunday then we will do lunch. Feeling better today. Got some more sleep last night. I just have the hardest time falling asleep. My mind is racing when I hit that pillow.
Ellen, that diet sounds interesting but I am not much of a meat eater so I don't think it would work for me. Let me know how the vegetarian book comes out. Crystle, ope your mood is improving. I hate those days. sometimes you don't even know what causes them. Toni, Hi lady. Hope today is going well for you. Off to wait for my baby so talk to you later. |
SOLLY: You don't have to go overboard on meat...just eat lean protein and a nice portion of it. The bedrock of the diet is the fresh vegetables as far as I can tell...and avoiding those foods with compounds that are not good for us. Like legumes and lectin, etc.

What a beautiful day. We had lovely rain this morning and it cooled our weather down for the day again. Second day in a row. Its been a wonderful break in the weather. To bad it has to end tomorrow. We went grocery shopping last night. I got the things I think I need to try the 17 day diet again. So I'll probably start this week end or Monday. I'll get my things ready to eat over the Sat. and Sunday. I want to make a pot of chicken and veggie soup and some turkey taco meat.
Ellen- Your diet looks good and I hope you do well. I got the book Eat this not That Diet for the recipes. I'd like some lighter stuff to feed my husband. Solly- Here I go again on the 17 DD. Wish me luck. I hate the first part. Had to buy stuff on a tight budget. Hope you have a good GS time.... Crystle- Hopeing you're having a better day. Beth- Hi lady...... Have a great week end. |
Woo Hoo
Hit a new low this week. :)
((Everybody)) Hope ya'll are having a super weekend. I am enjoying some quiet time this morning. :D God bless, Crystle |
Saturday already. This week seemed to go fast. Had a little rain early this morning. OOOO EEEEE is it humid. Just got done with a late breakfast. Had a couple little pieces of rye toast. Doing a little wash now.
Crystle- Wow thats so wonderful you've lost more weight. You must be looking and feeling great. Tried any good recipes lately? Hope you ladies are having a good week end. |
Morning! Weekend went by really fast! School starts today in our county. I will be wondering all day how its going for Kaeleb.
I boiled ten pounds of chicken legs yesterday. I found them at the market I went to for $4.99 for the bag. I have found them for $7.99 a lot, but never that cheap! I should have bought two! I made a mess, but was proud of myself that I got it all cleaned up after dinner. Tom spent the afternoon plugging sod in the front yard. I know he will be glad when that job is all done. It was HOT and very humid yesterday. I picked the tomatoes and cukes yesterday and found four eggplants! Woo hoo! My tomatoes are not looking good though. I am guessing its the constant heat. Its been over 90 every day for two months. We usually get some 80's weather in the summer.... I got in the pool last night and worked out for 30 minutes. I might go walk this morning if I can get my act together before it gets too hot. (may already be too hot! :( ) Off to find some coffee and breakfast! |
Started eating right. Am trying to get some water in me. Had a yogurt, sliced up apple and green tea for breakfast. Not sure what lunch will be. I need to make my chicken veggie soup soon. Only this time I'm going to use shedded turkey for the meat instead of chicken breasts. It will take me a couple days to get going right.
Ellen- What a good deal with the chicken. What are you going to do with the meat? I canned me up some last time I got a good deal on it and it comes in so in handy. Hope everyone is doing well today.... |
Howdy
Toni, I had yogurt and apple also. I had a drizzle of honey on it also..yum yum
Ellen..that was a great buy on chicken. I'd be filling the freezer. :) Drives my husband crazy. :) Solly, Mercee, Beth... Love and hugs, Crystle |
Morning! Going to Costco this morning for some stuff for the church. A friend is picking me up in a few hours. (after her weight watchers class)
TONI: I boiled the meat and put it in the fridge. Its a great thing to have to snack on when I need one! Good for you getting back on track! COUNTRY: I SHOULD have filled the freezer..but I am trying to whittle it down so I can defrost it. I had it almost empty then I bought a big bag of chicken breasts. I still have a large bag of frozen collards I need to cook! Maybe for potluck Wednesday! SOLLY: Hope you are well and having fun with the grandson! Mine turns five today...we are planning to get together for dinner somewhere...and pushover me just got stuck with picking the place. Argh! BETH: Where are ya, girl? Been looking for the emailed journals.... |
Monday on a Tuesday...
Thanks for the encouragement everyone.
This weekend was rough - 6 months since my baby boy went to Heaven - and seeing all the back to school ads and such just reminds me that he will never see his first day of High School next Monday... and it just sucks. I've been doing fairly well with my eating. A couple of egg rolls was the worst I ate. I even made my own wgww spinach lasagna from scratch, I'm so PROUD! Anyway according to my scale I'm down 5 pounds but it's really quite schizo - it will weigh you two different weights one right after the other in the same spot one right after the next... and I mean like 4 pounds different. Anyway - I hope I really am down some. That would mean only 11 more to go before the 29th! YAY! I bought some capri's on clearance that are the next size down from what I'm wearing now (I got them for $5!!) and my mini goal is to wear them to that appointment. I can button them right now but it's not pretty! I definitely know the MUFFIN MAN! HA!!! I'm still chugging along, though... the very rare diet soda - mostly water... meat, veggies, fruits and if I have grain it's WGWW and only ONE serving, like this morning it was one slice of bread with 1tbsp peanut butter on my way out the door. I'm trying... I just hope it pays off! |
Hello all. Had horrible computer problems today but for some reason its working fine tonight. So will take advantage of it and post. Eating is going good. 2 boiled eggs and a yogurt and some prunes for breakfast. Then some turkey veggie soup for lunch along with a good sliced tomato. And a taco salad for dinner made with ground turkey breast. Also 3 cups of green tea along with lots of water. I hope I have as good a day tomorrow. We're supposed to have lovely weather starting tomorrow in the 80's for a couple days. Can't wait.
Beth- I am so sorry you're having a hard time. Its six months since my son has passed. Even though he was 40 my heart is still broken. My prayers and thoughts are with you. Good going on the 5 lbs. I'm finally back to eating right. It feels good when you are with it. Ellen- Wish I'd find a good deal on some chicken breasts. I eat allot of chicken. But the white meat is my favorite. Crystle- Hope you had a good day and made something yummy.... Solly- How you doing? |
Do we need to start a new thread? Just wondering...
Went to Kani House and sat at the hibachi grill for K's birthday dinner last night. He loved the show...the fire and the chef at the end did a volcano with onion rings. Really neat. Then they gave him a Japanese umbrella, sang a song for him and took his picture and gave it to him in a card. All in all, a fun time. The food was good too, and I ate a little brown rice with dinner. (and my blood sugar was way up this morning! ) I am guessing there was sugar in some of the sauces they used. Today I have to bake cakes for church. Its the church's 175 birthday tomorrow and they are having a celebration on Sunday...I am making the birthday cake. I did not sleep that great last night. I guess my cpap mask was leaking and it woke Tom up..not me..and he then woke ME up to get it to stop. I just took it off, I was too out of it to deal with it. Not sure what was making it leak. I think when I sleep on my back the pressure goes up a lot, and that is what causes it to leak. Trying to get back on the straight and narrow this morning. Yesterday I had tilapia with veggies, and a bit of brown rice at the restaurant, and a small serving of vanilla ice cream. For lunch I had rotisserie chicken, sauteed spinach and watermelon. For breakfast I had some lean breakfast sausage. Today, I plan on sausage for breakfast, rotisserie chicken for lunch and I am not sure what I will fix for dinner. We usually go to potluck, but decided we need a night off tonight so will stay home. Too bad...I like not having to cook! ;) Off to find some breakfast! |
Yum I took a sliced apple and sprinkled truvia and cinnamon on it and microwaved it for 3 min. It was so good. Filled that void of applely cinnamony I was after. Also had a boiled egg and a yogurt with prunes to round out my breakfast. I'm trying to eat more but the right things. Its working good. Have my veggie turkey soup for lunch and leftover taco salad for tonight. Have done little jobs in the kitchen today like make bird food, boil eggs etc. So have kept myself busy. Think I might kick back and nap a bit in my chair.
Ellen- What a great idea for a birthday. You did good for your GS. You must be busy today making a birthday cake for the church. What flavor did you make? Hope you have a good evening off from doing so much. You've just been flying in high gear. I'm losing weight but won't count it till next Wed. cause I just started Monday. Now off to my little nap. Have a good afternoon all. |
Oh Ellen a new thread would be nice.

Tom came home tonight from a chiropractic appointment with some bad news. She told him he has a sensitivity to corn, as well as wheat and needs to avoid it. Don't know if you have looked lately, but corn is in just about everything! Its going to be hard....no cornstarch, no dextrose, no corn oil, etc. I had already about given it up to stick to the Paleo diet, but now I can't fudge a bit and have regular fried okra. (I use cornmeal...)
So I need to get even more creative to avoid corn, wheat and eggs. And I am not supposed to have legumes...which includes peanuts, and string beans. Seriously, I am glad I found the Paleo diet. I am seeing the truth in their claims it is the best diet to follow for health reasons! Tom has to go in at 5 for a release in the morning. I have a friend coming over at 8. I hope I wake up! Sometimes when Tom is not up and about because he went in early, I sleep until 9! Dinner tonight was good...grilled chicken and collards out of the freezer from our garden with some avocado slices. Unfortunately the grill caught on fire and had to burn off all the grease etc. for a few minutes before I could grill...and it seems to have warped the grill enough that the lid won't close. I would love a new grill..... |
