Busting Sugar- May and onward...2011
Sugar busters, low glycemic, etc....if you watch your sugar intake, and try to eat low glycemic, you have found like minded here....
Good morning! Happy May Day! Its beautiful here. Sun is shining and the weather is just a tad cool...perfect! Heading out to church in a few, but had a minute to check in. |
I'm with you. What do you think about artificial sweeteners?
Have you seen this? It's rather long, the scary thing is that sugar and fructose sticks to the insides of your arteries and causes blockage that may lead to heart attacks. "The Bitter Truth About Sugar" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBnniua6-oM |
Hi Kit! I have read a very long scientific article on the problems with sugar...I often slip up some, and use sugar, and it gets worse and worse...then something snaps me back again and I get back on track. The article I read really has helped me to stay on the wagon and keep sugar out of my diet.
On artificial sweeteners....I don't use them. I am diabetic and everything I have read says they can and do cause an insulin response to your taste of sweetness. I have lost more weight since giving them up entirely then I ever did while using them. I just try to eat as natural as possible now, using organics for the foods they recommend organics on, and other organics as I can afford them. Are you following a certain diet? I tend towards Sugar Busters because I have done it for so long, but recently I ate vegan for about 6-9 months. I am thinking of going back to it because it did help my blood sugar levels...except I really love chicken, fish and cheese! :) |
Woo Hoo
Happy May ya'll!!!!!!!!!!! I ate the wrong foods again yesterday so I guess I'll spend the next three days trying to get back on track. I have got to stop all the negative eating on the weekends. It is not about the weight but about being healthy.
I picked some greens and squash this morning so no excuses not to eat well this afternoon. :) Kit..I don't like artificial sweeteners. I went through detox when I went off of Splenda and that only confirmed to me that it wasn't good for me. I use a little sugar in my morning coffee. I also use honey and agave. Ellen..thanks so much for the new thread. This is a new month and the start of a GREAT Spring. :) Toni, Solly and Mercee...Happy Monday ya'll! God bless, Crystle |
Posted before I realized there was a new thread so copying it over here.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi ladies. Sorry I have been MIA. I have not felt good, had a MRI and ultra sound on my legs. Ultrasound was fine (which I knew it would be) but have not heard on the MRI on my back yet. My BP dropped to 71/56 on Thursay when I went to get a shot in my back. I felt horrible. It came up some after the shot but I was wiped out. Yesterday on the way to church I started feeling sick again. Had a shower to go to after church and just sitting there I could tell my BP was low again. I got a drink of tea and a bite to eat and felt some better but not a lot. Just felt wiped out. Got another vertigo treatment this morning and it made my sicker and now I have the big "D" again. Just want to lay down awhile. I could sleep but as always afraid I won't sleep tonight. Just don't feel like doing anything. Mercee, getting those 3 months free should be so easy for you as much as you work out. Good luck, I know you can do it. Toni, WTG being in the 180's. I am there too. Tried to start over today even though I will be eating "stuff" all week and weekend with Derby parties, but it is not going that way,. So Monday it is back on track for sure. Crystle, WOW being that thin is wonderful. Just don't lose too much. Is that ever possible? Great job. Ellen, Glad you enjoy WA. I wish the rain would stop long enough to warm up the pools. It is raining here again today and tomorrow. It is really ruining Derby week. Off to check my email. Have a great day. Should be on here tomorrow unless I go to the track with the office. Have to wait and see how I feel. |
Oh dear did bad yesterday with my eating. Back on plan this morning and am doing fine. I hope it doesn't affect my weigh in on Wed. Its rained all day today and is chilly and damp. Went to Lowe's yesterday and had a great shopping trip. Got a beautiful flower for my deck and a couple of beautiful tomato plants. For the pots outside. We ate the first time at Pandera Breads. I didn't know what to order so ended up with a cup of onion soup and 1/2 of a roast turkey sandwich.
Ellen- Thanks for starting us a new post. Its so fresh and clean. Spring like. Love the reminder about Sugar Busters. Kit- Welcome to our board. Thanks for the you tube about sugar. Crystle- I seem to have a bad time on Sundays with eating the wrong stuff. You can just keep trying. Solly- So sorry you're having a bad time of it. Maybe a little nap would be good for you. Off I go. Need to fix me a late lunch. |
Evening! I have been on the run almost all day. I unloaded the kiln yesterday and I meant to take pictures and list pieces on my etsy site, but I never got around to it. I went to Sweet Tomatoes (salad bar place) after water aerobics with a friend, then to walmart. I came home and watched a couple episodes of Glee. I am totally hooked on that show now!
Tonight Tom planted most of the garden. He was two weeks later than he wanted to be, but it seems like life gets so chaotic and its hard to get stuff done. After he finished planting he came in and found a tick on his back. Not sure where it came from....but most likely the shrubs back by the garden. Argh! Not sure how to get rid of ticks, but the most disturbing is why was it there? They are usually carried by something, and this looked like a deer tick. There are deer around....but they can't get into our yard. Oh well, I don't want to worry about it. I will just not be very eager to trample around out there now! :) Time for bed! Good night! |
Good morning ladies. Did nothing but lay on the couch and watch all my recorded stuff on the Royal Wedding. I still have it taped on 3 more channels. I was so engrossed by it. Some better today but still having trouble walking and my leg hurts again so the shot didn't last long. The office is going to the track today but I am not going. The boss is taking them and staying with them and they can only stay for 4 hours. Plus our sales consultant is going and he is the biggest bore ever. The girls don't even want to go so I am not going. Plus is it only going to be 49 here today and rain, rain, rain. It poured down all night long and it is still coming. Schools are delayed and so many roads are closed from the floods. I think we are expecting another 1" or 2" more. Then sprinkles Thursay thru the weekend.
Crystle, your squash is so big. They don't have them that big at the grocery. WTG on the 27 minutes run. You are awesome. Toni, I don't think you ate very badly. Probably not on plan but not bad. When I eat off plan I go hog wild and eat all the bad stuff. I don't t hink it will affect your weigh in unless it contained a lot of sodium. Ellen, I think there is something you can spray for ticks and fleas in your yard. That is creepy. Not much else going on so I will check in tomorrow. Have a great day. |
Well, I just got back from taking my 18 year old cat to the vet. He has some kind of abscess or infection in his mouth, and the vet thinks it could even be a tumor. They can not sedate him, as he is too old, too sick and dehydrated. They gave him a shot, some fluids, and told me to bring him back Thursday to see if it helps. He is Tom's cat...so it doesn't matter what they say Thursday. I just kind of feel like its about the end, and that will have to be Tom's job. :(
So I got all hooked on Glee, then I found out it will cost me about $20 to watch the second season. Its not out on DVD yet...and Netflix only has the first season. Bummer...at Amazon it is .99 cents an episode. There are 22. I am going to go over and cook dinner with a young friend of ours wife. She wants to learn Indian cooking...it ought to be a lot of fun. I should be thinking of what I need to carry to their house ....she is allergic to cats so there is no chance of them coming here. Guess I will go rustle up some lunch. |
Hi Ladies:
Sorry I was MIA. I had a very busy weekend and I am still going to the gym almost every day. I am really ejoying this challenge. I trying to get ahead in my workouts becauce we will be out of town a week before the challenge is over. Solly- I hope you feel better soon. Please try and relax adn slow down a bit. Ellen- That is so sweet of you teaching the lady to cook indian. I have found a lot of women in their 30's only know how to make packaged food. I found this out at our ladies fellowship at church. Toni- I'm sure you will be alright just get back to it girl you are rocking. Crystle- You ae certainly becoming an athlete. Keep up the good work. Kit- Welcome!! Well ladies I have to go have a great day!!! You ladies ROCK!!! |
Yay I lost a lb. today. I can tell my clothes are getting a little baggy. Went grocery shopping yesterday. It took forever and I sure was tired when we got home. But glad to have some different things to eat. Its going to be cool here today and I'm feeling it this morning.
Mercee- Woo Hoo you're doing good. Keep it up lady!!!:carrot: Ellen- Hope Tom's cat gets better. Wow I wish I could watch you two ladies at work I could learn so much. You're such a good person to teach your friend to cook Indian food. Solly- sorry the shot didn't help that much. I know what you mean about getting off plan and going nuts with the food then. Sunday's are getting to be a cheat day for me and I've got to stop that. Well having yummy hot coffee. Think I'll finish on here. |
Hey everyone! I just got back from taking Tom to lunch at my fav Indian place. He has gone there for dinner, but this is the first day he was off during the week that I could take him to the luncheon buffet. He agreed that it is the best we have had. They had a eggplant dish on the buffet today that I am going to start trying to find the recipe for. It was divine! Not at all spicy, but the yogurt sauce totally complimented the flavor of the eggplants. They used the Indian eggplants that are small globes. I have some of them planted in the garden this year!
I forgot to weigh. I weighed yesterday and was down three. I won't count it until I weigh in the morning. After a big Indian dinner, and now a big Indian lunch, it will serve me right if that loss disappears! SOLLY: I am praying for you to feel better. ((hugs)) TONI: You are doing great! I hope you have to go buy new clothes soon! :) MERCEE: I know what you mean! We did the Apples of Gold mentoring program at church, and there were a few ladies who had NO idea how to cook. The program is a cooking class combined with a Bible study. At first I thought that odd, but as we got into it, I realized it is brilliant! :) COUNTRY: Tom finished the main garden...now on to bush beans and he is going to plant me an herb garden at the foot of the stairs from the deck. Yay! I LOVE cooking with fresh herbs. We went for a walk today, and discussed barefoot running. I told him you have inspired me to work harder at getting in shape to run... :) Thanks! Off to get something useful done. I really just want to go take a nap. I admit, I ate too much at the buffet! :( |
Howdy...
Well I'm still alive - contrary to my wishes some days but things are okay for the time being... I'm trying to learn to put one foot in front of the other and move forward, but it's just not easy. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers over the last 3 months for me and my oldest son at times they have been the only thing holding us together I'm sure. This will be my first Mother's Day without a silly homemade card and a goofy smile from my sweet Drew and I hope the day isn't as hard as I'm bracing for. Thirteen years was nowhere near long enough with that precious child...
So - on the two month anniversary of Drew's death, Corey - my 19 year old - falls and breaks his ankle. After 2 weeks in a cast the break was WORSE and he had surgery last Monday to get a plate and 5 screws put in. He had a recheck yesterday and they'll take out his 11 staples and recast it on Monday next week. We are looking at another 6-8 weeks before he can walk without anything but a shoe again. THEN - the Tornados in North Alabama were about 4 miles from my house. My community is in total distress, people I know and care about have lost everything they own and it's just such a horrific time for all of our community. I'm stressed the HECK out so obviously - my eating is crap. I either go days without eating or I gorge on junk. There is no rhyme or reason to it either... I don't eat on sad days or starve on sad days... I just either feel like eating or I don't. I haven't been back to the gym either. I just went back to work about a week and a half ago and I'm just trying to do one thing at a time. I got on the scale yesterday and it said 226... I'm not even sure what my ticker is at but I do know in January I was at 242 so I'm not above my all time high. I'm trying to get motivated to lose some weight and feel better... I know that if I start eating better I'll feel better physically which may help emotionally as well especially since I'll feel better about myself. I'm planning to start back to the gym next week... but yanno, I either will or I won't. At this point I'm just taking one day at a time and doing what I feel I can manage. The only thing I do regularly is work (now) and Grief Support Group on Thursday nites, and I'm just gonna be okay with that. The one thing that I can and will begin to control better is my eating and food choices. Beginning today... because so far today I actually haven't had anything but coffee with splenda and water. I know I should eat but this is one of those I just don't really feel like it days. On the flip side at least I haven't eaten anything off plan yet...LOL. Anyway - I just wanted to touch base and let you all know I'm still around. I'll be trying to keep in touch more on here I know several of you have been contacting me on Facebook and I appreciate it. Hope everyone is doing well... I'll check in again soon, hopefully with positive things to report! |
Good afternoon
Howdy ya'll. The scales were up a bit this morning but I'm not doing anything different so I guess I'll just be okay with it. :) I told my hubby I have too or it is going to drive me crazy worrying about all the fluctuations.
I planted some mustard and swiss chard today. It is a little later than normal but I'm hoping it is not too late. I just noticed this afternoon that the green beans are getting really close. Maybe I'll be able to eat some this weekend. Toni..woo hoo on losing another pound!!! You are doing so good. Solly...sorry your leg is still bothering you but glad you are starting to feel better. Ellen..so sorry that your kitty isn't doing well. Too cool about the running. I hope you like it. I told my daughter my on my last run I actually like it for the first time. At least until I got near the end. Mercee...good to see you back at the board. We've missed you. Beth....good to see you lady.:hug: You are doing a great job with all that you have going on. So glad you weren't hurt by the storms. My daughter just got her lights on the other day. I'm not sure if her school is open yet or not. She is in the Ft. Payne area. ((Everybody)) Love and hugs, Crystle |
I remembered to weigh this morning...and despite two big Indian meals I held on to my three pound loss.
I accidentally picked up the wrong bag of rice at the store. I meant to get a 10 pound bag of brown basmati, but I did not realize until I opened it that it was white basmati. It is honestly the best basmati I have ever had. But in an attempt to use it up I made Indian Rice Pudding for potluck at church last night. There was a small crowd, and as potlucks go sometimes, there were a lot of desserts. I have a lot left over. So, rice pudding is what is for breakfast.... I have women's circle meeting at church this morning. I will go walk after it. My walking buddy is going with me to circle. I hope she likes it. BETH: I am delighted to see you back here. Been praying for you and Corey. I was very relieved that the tornadoes were a ways away from you. And I am very glad you have power back. I am going to be praying for you on Mother's Day. |
Blah...
Blew it last night. Ate peanut butter on white bread for dinner, followed by some potato chips and a handful of cheez-it's for dessert. YUCK.
I know that if I would actually EAT my meals it would help keep me from going all day without eating and then gorging at night. Maybe it's just subconscious stress from being in the house and nothing to think about but Drew? I don't know. I say that a lot lately - "I don't know"... it seems to just describe my mental state about life in general most of the time. Anyway... I did have a bacon/egg/cheese biscuit this morning. Not the best choice but since I haven't cleaned out the fridge from 6 days without power it was what was handy and I have work till 5 and then my Support Group for Parents who have lost children from 5:30 to 7:30 so I didn't want to go all day on an empty stomach and end up making things worse later. I did walk a little yesterday. Nothing major but put my feet on the ground for a bit which is better than nothing! Every day is a new beginning I guess... Hope you're all doing well... check in again soon :) |
Good morning
WTG Ellen..three pounds is GREAT! I haven't had the brown bastmati but I do enjoy the white. I've found I need to use a little less water than other white rices to get the texture we prefer. It tends to get to soft.
Beth..At least the peanut butter was protein. :) Way to go getting in a little walk. A little is more than none. ((Everybody)) God bless, Crystle |
Good afternoon. Just had a really late breakfast. I just can't get going in the morning. Lots to do today. Starting with dishes. Its beautiful and sunny out today, hope it stays that way. I'm also struggling with Mothers Day. I can't believe its been 3 months since I lost Teddy.
Beth- Its so good to see you back. Its so hard to get started again after you've been off eating right. My prayers and love are with you still... Ellen- wow three lbs. is wonderful. Keep up the good work. Crystle- Sounds like you've been busy in the garden. A little slip up isn't bad... Just hop right on back eating right. |
I switched cpap masks two nights ago and have slept MUCH better for two nights in a row. Nice! I am dressed and planning on heading out to walk in a minute. Would it look funny if I walked with a cup of espresso? :)
I spent a good bit of time last night planning menus. I am very proud of myself for doing that. I hate when I waste stuff...and I cleaned out the produce drawer in the fridge last night and was very convicted of my waste. There was a LOT of produce that went bad. If I stick to my planned menu, there should not be much waste. AND, I can use up canned goods, and other ingredients and whittle down the stuff in the cabinets. I think I am addicted to grocery shopping. And when I see an interesting new product, I buy it. Often with no firm plan of how to use it. I am determined not to let the marketing people win here. ;) It sure is chilly this morning! Its kind of nice, but unusual for early May! At this rate, we will never get the pool open! I hope everyone has a great day...and a wonderful weekend. My daughter and grandson are coming Sunday for dinner. Her husband has to work, so it will be nice to hang out together. My other daughter has to work, so she will not be able to join us. Still plotting what I am going to make Tom fix for us! :) Be back later! |
Its been a beautiful sunny day. I haven't got much done. But enjoyed the weather anyway. We get that stinkin' rain back tonight. I'll be praying for it in July and August. Eating has been good. Banana and a yogurt for breakfast and a big salmon salad for lunch. I'll have a chicken breast with broccoli and cauliflower for dinner. I got a beautiful vase of 2 dozen roses from my step daughter yesterday for Mother's Day. I just love them.
Ellen- I've never made my menu's ahead of time but what a good idea. Then grocery shop and get what you need. Less waste and you know what you're having each night ahead of time. Sounds like you have a wonderful Sunday planned. Enjoy.... |
TONI: And even if you don't stick to the menu exactly, you at least know you have the stuff for fourteen meals...and can switch it. I did tonight. I felt more like fixing tilapia than tacos so I did! :) I have a form I made on the computer that I print out. When I use a meal, I put an x on it so I know its no longer available. Works nicely!
I walked this morning, then walked and walked and walked around stores we shopped at. Had Japanese for lunch...teriyaki chicken, a California roll, ginger salad and miso soup. So yummy! I picked at the fried rice...had eggs in it so I did not eat much. I picked out a cute little organizer/purse on a long strap to carry instead of my huge one I have given up carrying. I usually just carry my license and cards in my pocket. This little purse will allow me to carry my meds too so I will quit forgetting them! :) Tom wrapped it up to give to me on Mother's Day. :( No surprises for me! Off to finish the grocery shopping....going to be helping at church tomorrow, so I won't be able to do it then. |
Thunderstorms woke me up this morning. But it was such a good rain I went back to sleep. Getting ready to make a late breakfast. Think I'll make shish ka bobs for dinner tonight. Steve can grill them. Wonder if we're going to do anything tomorrow?
Ellen- The purse sounds cute. Thats neat Tom wrapped it. LOL... Sounds like you had a great walking day. Along with a yummy lunch. Hope everyone has a wonderful Mother's Day.... |
Couldn't believe my DH he woke me up for Mother's Day. We got dressed and drove out of town. I had no idea where we were going. Ended up at a Mexican Restarant for a lovely early lunch. Then on to the wine country where we tasted wine and visited serveral wineries. He bought me a couple of cute t shirts and some lovely bottles of wine. Came back through a town with a subway and got a couple of sandwiches so I wouldn't have to cook dinner. What a lovely day I had. He knew it would be hard for me to stay home so planned a wonderful day for us. Got home to a nice call from my youngest son and step daughter. I was tired and enjoyed the day. I'm so lucky Steve's so thoughtful. Now back to eating right. LOL..... Slept like a rock.
Sorry this was so long. |
Good evening
Toni, I had Subway yesterday also. It was SO good. They had fresh spinach for their veggies sandwiches...yum.
Ellen...yum Sounds so tasty. ((Everybody)) Love, Crystle |
Good morning everyone. Not much going on here. Getting hungry and need to go cook. Think I'll make egg burritos. Hope you all have a good day.
Crystle- I had the fresh spinach on mine too. Next time I won't have it toasted it dried my whole wheat roll out. |
Hi ladies, Sorru I have been MIA. My dd'S computer has been in the shop all week. It seems very slow again. Hope she doesn't have to take it back.
Had another treatment this morning. I seem more dizzy today. She said it was in my center (not left or right) so if feels like I am on a slow roller coaster all day. I have to sleep sitting up for 2 days so guess I am in the chair tonight. I was so sick all day yesterday. I could not get far from the bathroom. I had my GS all day too so he had to run to the bathroom all day with me. Today I am so weak. I have no energy. I am so tired of feeling like this. Ellen, great job on the 3 lbs. Glad to see you got the pool open. My SIL hasnt yet. He has to stain his deck first. Toni, love hearing your clothes are getting baggy. Isn't that a wonderful feeling? I am glad you made it through Mother' Day. I know it was hard but hopefully you had good memories to keep you company. I started over on the 17 DD yesterday. I had gained 12 lbs in a month of bad eating. Goes to show you what happen when you go haywire. I hope I have learned something here. I didn't eat much yesterday sice I felt bad but the choices were at least good ones. Crystle, I don't think you need to worry about wt fluctuations at your wt. Just let it go. I would use a 5 lb gain for measure. Your garden sounds wonderful. My SIL said he was going to plant a garden when they build so I am excited about that. Mercee, glad you are doing great. Sounds like you have a good plan. Beth, You have been on my mind so much. Glad you are doing good on some days, I can't even imagine going thru what you have. Just take one day at a time and I step at a time. I hope you had a decent Mother's day if nothing else for Corey. I just read at the doctor's office this morning that a trainer told this girl not to look at exercise as a chore but as a prayer to God. Ask for His help and guidance and you will make it thru. Thoughts and prayers for you and your family. Getting tired just typing. My arms are so weak so I am going to sit down awhile. When DH gets home he is taking me to the store to get some lettuce for taco salads. Should be on here tomrrow. |
Hey everyone! Sorry I have been MIA. I am waiting for Tom to get home so we can get the cat in the carrier and take him to the vet. I am not hopeful...he won't eat, and has been VERY lethargic. He has hardly had any water either. I wanted Tom to go along in case they said there was nothing to do to help him, and we had to make a big decision. I would rather not do that alone, or have to bring him home, and then go back. You know?
Its 90 here today. Tom opened the pool on Sunday, so I could go get in the pool, except its REALLY cold still. I had a chiropractor appointment today...I feel pretty good now. Then I took a friend to lunch unexpectedly. Her birthday was Saturday...and we had to do it spur of the moment. They had some water damage and she is having to arrange things around contractor's coming to fix stuff. We went to my favorite Indian place. I am going there tomorrow too. (burb!) :) I LOVE it. Skipping dinner tonight for sure.... Off to find someway to cool off.... |
Ok, I did it. I got in the pool for about 10 minutes to cool off. It was really cold, but actually, I have been in it when it was colder...
|
Hi Ladies:
Sorry I have been MIA. Happy Mother's Day to all of you. We had a great time at church for Mother's Day we had Hat Sunday. It was wonderful seeing all the different types of hats. I also had a great time with my hubby and family we had a nice dinner as well. I am pleased I am down 2 lbs today. Finally. The one thing I am glad about is the fact that now the weight stays off and I didn't gain weigt in the winter and was able t continue losing during that time. Just not as much. I have been so sore lately, I use to use the weight machines and now I am starting to use the free weights. They are suppose to be better because you use you own weight to support yourself. LOL This is the first time in my LIFE I am enjoying working out and I am consistent. You ladies are a great support group. Toni- It was hot here as well yesterday it was 88 degrees. Solly- I hope you and your grandson are feeling better today. Did you watch Biggest Loser last night. Toni- I had subway yesterday as well. I usually have it on Tuesday's. LOL Crsytle- Your garden sounds great. I have a co-worker who does a big garden every year and I get to reap the benefits as we. She loads me down with all types of veggies. Beth- Great to hear from you. We've missed you here. Well I have to go now. Have a great day everyone. |
Hello everyone. Just had a breakfast burrito left from yesterday I made so I could eat it on plan. Stayed the same on the scale. After a rough week I was pleased with that. Hopefully this week will be lots better. Going to make chicken breasts for dinner.
Mercee- Woo Hoo 2 lbs. is great. Congratulations on the good loss. Glad you're having such a good work out time. Ellen- Whats happened to Tom's cat? I hope you didn't have to put it down. Its hard to lose an animal. Solly- Sorry you're having such a hard time with the darn dizziness. Hopefully today you're better. I'm sure you're going to do better with the weight. I'm sure struggling right now. Guess I'll finish my green tea and then take my medicine. Have a good day.... |
Heard from the vet this morning. The cat has advanced kidney failure. They were surprised he was still alive. He is too old to justify spending over $1000 to treat him, so we are letting nature take its course. He is not in pain...just tired and maybe nauseated.
So, I am kind of down today. |
Good evening
Howdy ya'll. I have been busy picking and cleaning veggies still. I just love this time of the year. I made some very pungent mustard greens today. Both the boys cover their noses when they walk in the kitchen. LOL They were both like, what is that horrible smell. The greens taste GREAT!
Stayed the same this week. I'm still working out and have added some strength training. I'm hoping to get my eating lined back out and lose seven more pounds. If I don't it will be okay but I really would like to. Oh Ellen, I am so sorry about your kitty. Mercee..contrats on losing two more pounds...woo hoo! :carrot: Solly...So sorry you are feeling poorly. Toni..You are doing so good. Since you stayed the same this week I bet you have a big loss next week. ((Everybody)) God bless, Crystle |
Hi ladies, just feel goo enough to get on yesterday. I have no energy and just feel horrible. I just don't know if it is the vertigo or something else but it has been over 3 weeks so I think it is the vertigo. Got th enews from my MRI last week and it was not good. The plate is not holding and I have another herniated disc and the area they cleaned out is closed up again. He said I would need rods and screws to help. I told him I was waiting until after summer as I had vacations, etc planned and I may get another opinion. My pain dr (who is a friend) wants me to go to Mayo Clinic or Cleveland Clinic. I just don't know what to do but the leg pain is so bad.
Ellen,s orry to hear about your cat. I sure hope he doesn't suffer. I know how hard that is. My SIL opened their pool yesterday but it is so cold. Guess they will use the solar cover for awhile. Toni, This is a new week and you will do better. I gained 12 lbs in a month and lost 8 so far today. I am sorry to report my eating has not been on plan. Not too bad just not on plan. I just don't feel like eating. Mercee, glad you had a nice Mother's day. Hat Sunday sounds like so much fun. I love hats but look goofy in them. Both my girls look adorable in them. It is a good feeling to know you did not gain wt during the winter. Gives you a little boost. Crystle, I love kale greens, are they the same as mustard greens? I know they smell horrible but taste good. My mom always cooked here in bacon grease. Guess that is what made them so good. Do you really need to lose 7 more lbs? Will that be alright for your frame? Beth, thinking of you. Hope you are having a ok day. Got to run, DH is on his way home for lunch and I am still in my pj's. Guess I will sit in the sun and read my book. I have read 9 books since I have gotten my Kindle. I love it. Have a great day |
Cat is very lethargic and I do not know how he managed, but he went down the deck steps and is laying like a meatloaf on the concrete patio. I am guessing the cool concrete feels better than the wood deck. I hope he does not linger. I tried to give him water, you can tell he is thirsty, but he will not drink. I even put it in a very low saucer and he still won't. :(
I slept all night on my left side and now my left ear is stopped up. Its driving me crazy. Sometimes when this happens, it spontaneously clears up in an hour or so, but it is not doing so today. SOLLY: I am so sorry things are not improving for you and now the disc problems need to be addressed again. ((hugs)) Praying for you...wish I could do more. COUNTRY: I am still waiting on my Indian Eggplant to come up....getting worried! The gungura (a type of spinach) and okra is up...and the tomatoes are growing. Tom just planted the bean and basil....still have to plant the bottle gourd and cukes. He is so overwhelmed, I am not holding my breath! :( |
Another warm day today. Green beans are starting to come up. Lots of blooms on the tomatoes. Slept good last night and just had a yogurt with some flax seed in it. Need to have a fruit.
Solly- Girl I can't imagine what a bad time you are having. I wish they would sure find out whats wrong with you. You have my love, thoughts, and prayers. Yea on losing the 8 lbs. Ellen- So sorry your cat is not doing good. Having a dear pet for 18 years is a long time. They become such a part of the family and your life. Crystle- Yea for you picking in the garden. I've never had mustard greens. Wonder if I would like them? Mercee- Hope you're having a good day. Off to drink my green tea then get busy. |
Hello...
Good Afternoon everyone!
Well... I managed to get my bootie back to DanceTrance Monday, but I haven't been back since because honestly Tuesday I couldn't walk and didn't want to overdo it, yesterday my oldest had a doctor's appointment and today I have my Bereaved Parents group at the same time... BUT - after group I'm gonna hit up the gym and do a little elliptical! I even packed my gym clothes with me. And :::drumroll::: today I have been OP ALL DAY! It's the FIRST day since Drew's funeral that I can say that on a day that I've actually eaten...LOL! Of course dinner has yet to be determined but I WILL STAY OP DARNIT! Ellen - I'm so sorry about your cat. I have a 15 year old Min Pin who is not doing well. We always joked about him being our "middle child" because we got him before Drew was born and now I sit and think about the fact that my dog lived a longer life than my child. It's so sad... and I honestly don't know how I'll react when he goes. I guess for me it will be kind of bittersweet since I know he will be a young pup and keeping Drew company :) Solly - so sorry about your disc problems! I hope you get better soon!!! Crystle - I'm SO envious of your "veggie tales" LOL! I wish I had a green thumb and the space to grow some veggies! Mercee - Congrats on the 2lbs! I found them, so if you want them back just let me know ;) Toni - I hope you see a huge loss on the scale this week!!! I'm hoping for one myself! Hope everyone is having a good week. I'm just -okay- this week. Nothing fabulous... but holding it together. My oldest son got his 11 staples out from his ankle surgery but still no weight bearing for 2 weeks. I'm just ready for some PEACE in my world!!! I don't get on from home because all I have is my cell phone right now and I can't get on the boards, that's why you only hear from me on work days during work hours ... but I'm not disappearing again, Promise! :) Talk to you all soon! |
Beth- Good going girl and getting started again. Hope we both have a good week next week. Its great you're back.

Guess everyone is busy today. Went to the little grocery store in town and got me some bell pepper plants and jalapeno plants and one basil plant. I hope to grow them all in pots on the porch. I just hope to make jalapeno jelly this year. And I love bell peppers. Hope to get them planted soon. Eating has been okay. We're going to grill steaks tonight. Hope you all have a good week end.

I just got in from picking strawberries with my daughters and grandkids. We had a good time and I got two gallons of strawberries. They sure are yummy!
I came home to find my cat died while I was gone. When Tom gets home we will bury him in his favorite sleeping spot in the back yard. Then I hope I can talk Tom into going out to dinner. I just don't feel like cooking. |
Awww Ellen I'm so sorry. Thats so awfully sad. Hugs to you.....
