hi everyone! i am starting this diet today-- i've had success with calorie counting but i needed a change and i agree-- this diet seems quite easy to follow. however, i am making some concessions-- i am going to have saturdays be my "off day" and count calories instead of following the 17 day.

today is my first day on and it's been good so far. i'm hoping this will be the thing that kickstarts me to goal!

Eat veggies, a couple servings of fruit, and lots of lean proteins. Seems to be something about a power cookie (addiitonal charge).

There are 4 17 day cycles after which you're ready to go out onto your own.

I think I am in agreement with you. Doesn't seem like much of a diet, other than eating minimal, but a healthy minimal. Sure hope people aren't paying for this. I didn't go into depth yet, but will look up more info and report back what I find.

This isn't true. The only "charge" is the cost of the book (which cost me £10 including delivery from Amazon). There's no diet foods to buy from them even if you wanted to. There is a recipe for a breakfast cookie you can make.. but that's optional and just an alternative to other breakfasts. It's just a recipe. I don't know why people have focussed on that :?:

It's just a healthy eating plan with a lot of water basically.. I personally think you can take the probitoic thing with a pinch of salt and eating fruit after 2pm is not going to damage your weight loss.. however people do tend to binge (if they do binge) and break their diets later in the day and eating high sugar things can cause you to binge so the two combined I could see could cause a problem I suppose so maybe there is a tiny bit of logic there..
But those reservations aside if it works and is easy to follow then I don't think it's a bad diet. There's certainly nothing damaging about it, it's not expensive to follow and it focusses pretty much entirely on fresh lean foods. I did enter a couple days worth of food on plan into a calorie counter and it comes out to between 1100 and 1200 each day with less than 100g of carbs.. but you're only supposed to follow that first phase for 17 days after all..

I don't feel hungry at all. My boyfriend even went to dairy queen and ordered a chocolate milkshake and I wasn't crying to have one so I think the diet is working for me. I have to find new recipes though.

PaintedButterfly 05-03-2012 09:16 AM

Looks yummy Sophie :D. Well done on your loss too.

Eep I kinda fell completely off track with this eek.. so much so I am considering just waiting till the 11th like I orginally planned to properly start this.

SophieCormier 05-03-2012 11:54 AM

Thanks PaintedButterfly! :) Just get back on that horse! Find new recipes you enjoy. I just googled 17 Day Diet Recipes and brought me to "The Doctors" forum with TONS of recipes. I printed a lot of em. I'm trying some Chicken Fajitas tonight for dinner and I'm going to prepare some turkey meatballs for my lunches. The more recipes I find the better. Also, something that's been helping me is keeping a food journal. I'm not counting calories but I'm writting everything I eat, drink & the amount of exercise I'm doing. I find it helps me to look back on what I'm doing.

SophieCormier 05-04-2012 09:02 AM

Well, I did the chicken fajitas, they were DELICIOUS! My boyfriend ate it too, same way as me and he really loved it too. I had some leftover for my lunch so I'll be doing the turkey meatballs tonight for dinner. I also might try doing a coleslaw to eat with that.

Breakfast
2 eggs
Strawberries
Green Tea
Tims Coffee (Sm DD)

Snack
Green Apple
Greek Yogurt

Lunch
Chicken Fajitas
Green Tea

Snack
Greek Yogurt

Now, tomorrow is my best friends birthday party. I'm going to allow a cheat day since I'll be drinking liquor and eating bbq. I'll get right back on track on Sunday though! I hope it doesn't affect my weigh in on Tuesday too much...

SophieCormier 05-07-2012 02:15 PM

Had my cheat day on Saturday (afternoon). Went right back on track the next day and still going strong today :) I love how good I feel these days. I suppose it's because I'm eating more fruits & vegetables and less sugar. I also love trying the new recipes. My boyfriend eats what I eat during dinner. He enjoys my cooking hehe!

Breakfast
2 eggs
1 orange
1 green tea
1 coffee (M DD)

Snack
1 green apple
1 greek yogurt

Lunch
Chicken fajitas
1 greek yogurt

Snack
1 green tea

Dinner
Chicken & veggies (not sure what I'm doing yet)

Tomorrow morning is my 1 week weigh in. I hope I'm not too disapointed. I've been struggling at losing weight lately for some reason. I guess all my yo-yo dieting has finally taken a toll on me. We'll see how tomorrow goes! Wish me luck!

SophieCormier 05-08-2012 07:15 AM

Weighed in this morning, I'm down 3.2! I now weigh 175.4. I'm pretty happy with that considering I had a cheat day on Saturday and a few drinks Friday night.

Snack
1 green apple
1 greek yogurt

Lunch

1 salad

Snack
1 greek yogurt

Dinner

Today is day 8, 9 more days and I'll be in cycle 2. I can't wait to have different foods added on. I remember having Apple/Oatmeal/Cinnamon/Vanilla Yogurt, that was YUMMY! I can't wait to have that again. :)

How are you doing PaintedButterfly? You still following 17DD?

PaintedButterfly 05-08-2012 10:21 AM

Thanks for keeping on posting Sophie! Congrats with your weight loss! That's fantastic. It's helpful to read. I think you can have the apple/cottage cheese/cinammon thing on cycle 1 can't you? Just combine one fruit portion with a probiotic.

Tbh.. no.. not at all.. I'm am going to start it within the next week though so I'll let you know when!

SophieCormier 05-08-2012 10:26 AM

Thanks! :)
As for the Apple/Cottage Cheese/Cinnamon, I'm not crazy about cottage cheese but I guess I could substitute with yogurt. I think it would be just as good but probably not as filling as it is with the oatmeal.

SophieCormier 05-09-2012 08:37 AM

Day 9 today! Getting bored of my Orange and Eggs in the morning. I wish I had time to try the Mock French Toast. It has eggs, cinnamon, apples and I'm not sure what else. Seems pretty easy to do though. I might try tomorrow morning, I'll let you know how that turns out ;)

Breakfast
2 eggs
1 orange
(no green tea! forgot!)

1 coffee (sm DD)
1 green apple

Something with chicken breasts and veggies
1 green tea

Snack
1 greek yogurt

i never heard about it. however, it does sound interesting... i wana give a try since i totally clueless in how to reduce my weight now >.< (but how to start??)

SophieCormier 05-09-2012 11:43 AM

The diet is simple. The only tool you'll need is the book. I bought mine on amazon for really cheap!

This is the book you'll need: http://www.amazon.ca/17-Day-Diet-Mik...6578108&sr=8-1

You can google the foods they tell you to eat during each cycle but I found that reading the book is a lot better. You get more answers to your questions. Hope this helped ;)
