Is it bad to have a meal consisting entirely of vegetables? As long as I get wheat, dairy, fruit, and meat sometime else during the day? I still managed to finish off the day under 1400 calories, but would I have been fine with just the vegetables?
Over and over again on here, I see people come to the realization that weight loss is not an all or nothing thing. Every meal does not need to be perfectly balanced - you will make yourself crazy! There is nothing wrong with eating a pile of veggies for lunch - that is awesome! If you want a big pile of veggies - eat the veggies. If you want the hamburger - eat the hamburger. As long as you are getting a balance over a period of time, then there is nothing to worry about.

I keep reading about the food habits of two year olds (My son turned 2 in Jan.) and I keep reading over and over again about how they tend to have days where they hardly eat at all and days when they are like bottomless pits. There are days when my son wants nothing but dairy - yogurt, cheese, etc. And then there are days when he is a total fruit monster. Everything I have read says that if I look at what he eats over a few days or a week, I can see that he gets a balance - just not all in one day.

Who's to say we can't eat like that? I mean - eat when we are hungry? Back off when we aren't? Eat fruit today? Protein tomorrow? I think this is all about finding balance. Finding what works best. If you want to eat veggies now and protein later. Plenty of people don't perfectly balance their ratio of proteins/fats/carbs and are perfectly healthy.

oh god... I am rambling. Sorry.

Why is it that people think they must have meat with every meal. As a vegetarian I am not opposed to person other than me eating meat and I am more troubled by the fact that people think we need to have it every meal. The plate of vegetables that you had less the oil, which you said looked minimal, is great. We need more fruits and vegetables in our diet. It is good for your body, good for the planet, and good for the animals. Do not fuss over such a little thing, be more concerned if you had a plate full of meat.
